- Join me in this video where I continue work on my new exhibition layout 'The Cruel Sea'.
In this video I address the lighting concerns in the last episode and start adding some details.
Be sparing with colour hues , all stone buildings in the dockyard are dull grey local limestone. The weather in Plymouth is always grey.
For added authenticity you need a fog machine, set to "Mizzle" lol. Lots of old tractor tyres as fenders. Lots of huge steel mooring bollards. Oh...and don't forget several "yardees" sat on said bollards fishing !!!
I really like the plain white backdrop, it fits well with the greys and muted colours, I feel like a bright blue sky with green fields would really break the wartime vibe.
Love the small touches like the memorials and the figurehead.
Really taking shape now.....
Looking superb! Thanks for videoing and sharing.
Beautiful work Jason very lovely! Joachim

That's dedication mate,really well done. 😊
This is museum quality work my friend, superb👍✌️💜😊
Wow Jason, what a awesome display you have built. You really are a very talented modeller mate.
Cheers Chris
Thanks Chris. I’ll be exhibiting it at the Bognor show in January so you can see it in the flesh.
Yea, sadly its too common seeing children of all ages touching layouts & exhibits.
Actually witnessed someone leaning on a layout to take a photo of it!
Words were had.
The scene is really coming together, mate, as always, very impressive.
Thanks mate. What I can never understand is why people insist on wearing massive rucksacks to model railway exhibitions🤔 The prices on stuff now they surely can’t be purchasing that much gear? 😂
Those box shaped things that you refer to as gulley outlets are called hoppers.
👍. Arthur
Revell's 1/144 HMCS Snowberry could easily be converted to Compass Rose............ or any other Flower Class Corvette.
Thanks for watching. I decided to build the kit pretty much out of the box but there are a few obvious differences from HMS Coreopsis who played the part of the Compass rose, she lacked the Oerlikon cannons on the bridge and the life raft configuration was not the same. However I liked the look of the kit as was so I’ve used some artistic license!
