- The art of making hats flourished in the past, but it's almost forgotten today. When we do wear a hat, it's usually the baseball cap style. Tennessee Crossroads found a man in Covington, TN who's carrying on the tradition of making fine head coverings the old fashioned way, with lots of Tennessee pride and passion.
Holy shee-oot, this guy's good... It's awesome to see someone so clearly in their element!
I like old styled hats the best. The hat worn by the hat maker is very nice.
Well that’s nice. Love seeing the old art
I met mike when i was working for joe peters at peter brothers hats in Fort Worth Texas, very good man and a very good hatter!
2020, just hope this place is still trading , great vid.
Mike is still going strong. Posts weekly or more on FB. Makes many hats seen, like for William Lee Golden of The Oak Ridge Boys.
Those hats are beautiful.
You get an A+++ as a true Master CRAFTSMEN for settin' a Brim or being a "Mad Hatter". You definitely or a prime number from across this land of amber ways of gold from Sea to Shining Sea. Virtus Junsit Mors Non-Seperabit.
Awesome work & video
This video got me pumped for my trip there this month!
Great Job Mike!!!
you go man.
Cool, I want a new 🎩 .
Great to see you Mike. You are an artist and "The Major" is still my favorite!!!!!!
Haven't heard a thick american south accent like that in a long time
From building muscle cars to showing off Tennessee man of many hats
The had being made during the video is perfect for me! Does anyone know how much a hat like that goes for more or less ?
Depends on where you go. I got a 6x custom hat for about 300 dollars but that's only 50 percent beaver.
And I spent $150 on a 4x buffalo Stetson. It really does vary, but I'd say typically between $80-$200
Where is Covington located?
It's about 40 miles from Memphis.
