Damn I’m gonna miss him😂
😂
at that point shawns channel would be 10 years old
if the album comes out just as good, I'm okay with that
Zay spoke about him and his philosophy behind the features on this album
"... That’s why on the album, I put a lot of people whose music I like on specific songs that were more catered to them than to me. I think that’s somewhat like being a director and treating myself, the rapper, as more of a character. Because at the end of the day, I’m more of a producer and director than anything else, I just happen to write the scripts too..."
agree, definitely intentional. One of Zay's strengths in my opinion
That’s how I felt it was, i didn’t think he didn’t contribute enough, it seemed more as he was serving the song more than himself
💯
This comment and the replies, y’all get it. Man knew what he was doing, and he did it well.
That's fair. I get how that can be lost on some people. Gave me a couple listens to really appreciate this album and what Zay was trying to go for.
Zay did an interview and he basically said the idea behind the title is that when the house is burning or when shit hits the fan what are you gonna do. Are you gonna go back into the fire and risk your health to grab certain possessions or are you gonna just watch it burn and start new. So happy with this album I love Zay man.
🙏🏿
What would you do?
Will you still be a fan when shit hits the fan?
I'm taking my 2 dogs, childhood possessions, and any necessary medication, then jumping out my window QUICK with the family.

Album didn’t disappoint, I fuck with every single song heavily
Kinda dissapointed
@@sue3timez575 you on your own
Faxxxxx, I was only disappointed with the beat change on from the garden, but dat shit grew on me fast
@@darksunmoon2605 In my opinion the OG "from the garden" beat was better, but I believe that this new beat fits the album as a whole much better. I still love the track tho! Just imagine if he managed to get them X vocals tho!!!
@@sue3timez575 Nah I feel you. Especially for a 5 year wait. I didn’t expect it to top the last album but I guess I was just expecting more after 5 years. Not that it’s bad or anything but it’s not close to The Sun’s Tirade

Doesn’t really feel like 5 years worth of work
@@griffinhorne1972 fr I like the album, but definitely not 5 years of work.
@@1997Nico well in a recent interview with Complex I believe he said he had been working on the album for approximately 2 years rather than 4-5.
I see what you mean, but the laid back, “one big wave” sound is what I love about zay’s music. I love how his voice blends into songs like an instrument. It makes his projects feel like one big dream. It’s like the way you can’t remember anything from dreams, you just remember fragments (the songs) and try to make sense of it all (the album) afterwards. In the moment, while you’re dreaming, you can only really sense the texture of the dream and the way it made you feel.
It's less like a surfing, crashing type wave and more like a large gentle wave like in one of those wave pools, except instead of a pool, it's more like a massive body of water that lifts you up high before it settles you down gently.
Yeah it’s like everything in the world just stops and blends together and makes sense. Just makes you feel some kind of way.
Isaiah rashad said in an interview that he wanted the features to have the spotlight. He compared himself to being a director on some of the songs letting his people get their shine
Well when it's your own album giving others the spotlight is a bad move imo. No offense to the features, but we didn't wait 5 years for others to "shine." 🥉
@@imemberberry but this also isn’t about you. it’s about zay
@@jaida1066 except zay said that it wasn't about him either, so read better. Shad should be shitting on everyone. You wanna let other people shine? Release a mixtape. Or just tat other men's faces on your body like Drake.
@@imemberberry true it’s not ALWAYS about him but it shol aint about you neither
@@jaida1066 I never said it was about me once, but I guess just keep repeating yourself
Zay said in an interview that he likes seeing his albums as movies which he directs, so sometimes he makes songs for other people in which he is only a character, so I guess that explains why you feel like in some songs he is overshadowed by the feature
I get that. But also, that's called a "feature." Nothing wrong with tailoring a beat to the feature to make them comfortable, but letting someone overshadow your own track on your own album is nah. Being a "character" on your own track makes little sense to me. On RIP Kevin Miller he sandwiched two verses around one of the best rappers working at that time and sounded like two different people. Now even The Garden which needed no help (from the "leak") sounds worse than it did before and adds a nonsensical Uzi verse when he shoulda just paid XXX's estate for an "ayy" drop and called it a day. Plenty of tracks I like on this album, but idk why every feature ran rampant and kinda ruined the track for me. 200/Warning was good though. First two albums were better, sadly.
@@imemberberry The thing is, zay doesn't perform bad in those songs, it's only that they're made so perfectly for the feature that it brings out the best of them, so Isaiah not being at the same level doesn't make the song worse, the feature being great make the song better in my opinion. Also I can see why'd you'd prefer the other 2 albums, this one is not perfect, but I still have it over TST which was a little all over the place for me. Absolutly love 3 of them tho
He’s a vibe curator
@@javiguerrero8265 he says that, but The Garden wasn't really made for Uzi. The beat maybe, which is probably why it doesn't "match up" as well as I'd like it to the original version. Beat is good, just doesn't sound like it belongs attached to the lyrics.
I was driving around vibing to this album and I never skipped one track. Everything was consistent. Smino, SZA and 6lack gave me A1 guess verses. Plus it's been 5 years! What more could you ask for?
Album is on another level when your driving.I was vibing hard on the road to HB2U as I saw a car chase another car,hot ass weather, people in traffic going nuts. This album definitely clears your head in the midst of a chaotic environment
Exactly bro I couldn’t even skip the singles the album blended well still on repeat
Bit dissapointing to me

How he going to say SZA has such a recognizable voice after confusing someone else’s voice as hers haha
This album smooth as, welcome back Isaiah
Ran to the comments to say this
Because doechii is a newer artist and seems like she models her singing after sza
@@kirch1412 I was thinking the same damn thing
Smooth as what?
I was looking forward to this almost as much as the album
Whenever I listen to Zay, I feel like I got invited into his world and get to catch a glimpse inside it. A Zay album is just a little planet in his own microcosm that I'm allowed to chill on for a bit. We vibe for a while, other people pop in and out as well, but when the album is over? Zay is like "it's been nice, but I think it's time for you to leave". His music is entirely his own little world.

Sad to know we’ll never get a new Cilvia demo but I’m happy that he’s happy a
He has said in two separate interviews that there will be no more 5 years waits and that Kenny Beats' : "Don't Over Think Shit" was a mainstay on this album so most of the tracks were freestyles except like one or 2. When further asked if he likes making albums with freestyles he said he didn't, saying that he just wanted to try it once. So his next album will hopefully be more like H2BU. But Zay went 3/3 for me, quality album.

It’s been on repeat all day. And it has gotten better with every play through… I LOVED that he borrowed Missy’s flow for THIB!
This was worth the wait, but Zay my guy you better not keep us waiting like that again. 1.5-2 years max.
Fav tracks: RIP Young, Hey Mista, All Herb, Don't Shoot, Chad, THIB
only guy who drops bangers that often is none other than tyler the creator himself (and possibly old kanye), it’s extremely hard to drop great music in such a short time period, you need both extreme talent and worth ethic/dedication, not that some artists don’t have those, but some artists have more than others
@@pt-yt8322 I would say you forgot J Cole. Honestly I feel between this album and Off season by Cole its gonna be hard to top for Album of the year. Maybe Kendrick otherwise idk if Drake or Kanye are gonna do it for me.

The album blends seamlessly together and is cohesive. Really strong project
Man it blends together but too much I mean all he did was lazy talk/rap and he didn't have any times when he snapped or just went in. Really weak project man. I don't think he understands but people liked his first mixtape because he was actually rapping not mumbling.

REACT TO “WERE ALL ALONE IN THIS TOGETHER” - UK DAVES NEW ALBUM SHAWN
My one problem with this album is just Zays delivery. The breathy, energy-less delivery can work for some songs but there was just too much of it. In earlier projects he rapped with a lot more distinction and energy
prolly it's just him trying something new as an artist. like Mac Miller. Look at how his flows and styles changed from K.I.D.S, to swimming, to circles.
Facts someone said he’s not a mumble rapper but he’s top ten at it 😂 couldn’t agree more lol
so true
I definitely see what you mean about the features, claymore, Lay wit ya and true story could use more Zay, but I don’t know how else to explain it but it feels like he still has a looming presence. For me, as much as I love it it’s too early to tell where I rank it with his other stuff
I fuk with claymore heavy felt like an interlude ngl
It's third.
Zay called this his album to go more commercial so I can’t blame him… we loved clivia and suns tirade cause it was mostly zay… but he said he’ll be more consistent and dropping something again before the year ends so we will see
If y’all are interested Zay dropped a song with Q on his page that didn’t make the album

I gotta say my guy. I really appreciate your lens on this album. I definitely understand how the features outshine him. However, where I'd disagree is how he lets them. I feel that IR is so mellow that he lets his guests create their own realm within his to make it more natural. I felt like he's really in his own space and letting the guests create their own flames within his. And he's coming out of his dark place to let those fires burn. At least that's my interpretation of this album. I enjoyed it a lot on initial listen but my views may change after a few weeks. Thank you for the review Shawn.

About the beat switch in the final track, I feel like it works perfectly to show the new phase of his life that he has moved into. He spends the first half reminiscing but then transitions into these wandering vocals since he's still unfamiliar with his new self

Even with Shawn’s Chaotic Neutral energy, I find his videos therapeutic
17:33 Zay saying “ you are now human being” it feels like a rebirth. Like after all the shit that he’s been through these past few years he’s became reborn again into this new person. I could be wrong but that’s the vibe and the feeling that I get when I hear that line.

I think the title of the album definitely has a major impact on what Zay was going for here. As you said, the music makes you feel warm and inviting, which reinforces the idea of a house burning because the track list is representing that of a invitation to its house in which is on fire. Also when Zay melts into the beats or when he lets the Features take over, it’s supposed to represent him letting the fire consume him or take over the songs as fire takes over and spreads on the house.
