If Kyle falls for Darren, I'm worried that 1) Nancy's heart will break and 2) Darren may not feel the same way which will also leave kyle heartbroken making his depression worse :(
Divine Bale that honestly wouldn’t surprise me if that happens, also that what I was just thinking if I were Luke, Nancy & Mandy I would have noticed and be suspicious
It's funny how society nowadays think because two people that are male one being straight and other being bi, that they're having an affair... people don't acknowledge that men can get depression etc.
Not everyone is like that though. I understand, I have depression and tried to "stop" 2 twice. So people do understand and with understanding come an ear to listen as well.
I don’t like how Kyle convinced Darren not to open up to Mandy or anyone else saying they won’t understand his feelings. It’s like he wants to keep him separate from everyone else and all to himself. He’s definitely developing feelings.
Poor Darren and Kyle. 😭😭😭😭😭 I hope they'll both get help also I hope that Brooke, Charlie, Jack, Nancy, Oscar or Tony will find out about Darren's depression and Cindy, Ella, Luke, Mandy or Oliver will find out about Kyle's depression and they'll all try to help them!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Why do u put nearly everyone's name in some of them people u mentioned hardly know Darren plus why will a little kid like Oscar find out he has depression he won't know
Jordan I hope they'll help each other too, but if either Brooke, Charlie, Jack, Nancy or Oscar find out about Darren I hope they'll be worried about him and try to get help for him!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Kinda hope this twist and they end up together and Darren ends up happy. Because Kyle is point blank gay so I don’t understand why Nancy is in a relationship with him because you can’t just change. And there’s nothing else good happening in the show at the moment so although Darrens affairs have all been ridiculous before, I think they could do something better this time around
Interesting thoughts. I kind of hope this SL will dig a little deeper psychologically too. Clearly Kyle has as great a struggle with his emotions as Darren, at the moment. And what he said about "They don`t need to know everything about us," referring to Nancy and Mandy, clearly reveals he has secrets from Nancy - but we already know Nancy knows about the weed. So what secret could Kyle still be keeping from Nancy? Maybe his conversation with Jordan (no pun intended) - when he asked him home for a beer - gives a clue. Cause he opened that invitation by saying there were no one home at his place. If they only was going to have a beer and chat, why would it matter if anyone else was there? Which suggests Kyle was not primarily inviting Jordan for a beer, he was coming onto him. Questions is, is that why Kyle is so keen to get married to Nancy as soon as? Because he is afraid of being discovered, and than could lose both Nancy and the boys - all of them who he loves and would want to be with? What I think would have been a groundbreaking twist to the SL, and also would have improved Kyle`s mental state immensely, had this been real life, would have been if Nancy asked herself the quite obvious question: Since Kyle between the two periodes he had been with her, in her teens and now, had been with countless men, as proved by all of the ones who showed up when she found his black book and invited them all to his birthday party, could he then be totally happy just being married to her? And then she should have asked herself, if she really liked and loved Kyle enough to marry him, was that the real Kyle - or an image she had created of him in her mind of her ideal husband. And was it fair of her to hold him to that standard when she knew he would have to compromise himself to live up to it? She should then either have decided she could not marry him, cause it likely would not work in the end. Either he would start resenting her, cause he had to keep up a mask 24/7, or she would start resenting him for not living up to the standard she expected. Or what I would have preferred. She told Kyle she would marry him, but only on the condition that he in his wows promised to be loyal and supportive towards her and her boys, and also that the word NOT should be include in front of "to forsake all others." And instead she told him she loved him, wanted to be with him - but that she loved him for him, as he was. So if she had to share him with men, that was okay, cause that was who he genuinely was. And that she before would have an honest and open relationship with him, than one filled with lies or deception - or suppression, fear and shame. In regard to Kyle and Darren I think it would have been more groundbreaking, if instead of the two of them getting together or having an affair, it culminated in something which didn`t involve sex, cause they both knew where the boundaries was, but where it still was more than a friendship. Where Kyle jokingly flirted with, and teased in a gay way, Darren - as he has very often done from he arrived - and Darren had his ego boosted by Kyle being attracted to, and showing an interest in, him. Keeping us viewers guessing if or when they would go further. I think that would be more interesting as drama and development. Going straight (no pun intended) into the how gay is gay, and how straight is straight issues. Is sexuality three simple boxes of straight, gay and bi - or is it a lot more fluent and complicated, and how gay or straight someone is more accurately can be described as percentages. Or is it even more complicated than that? And some men are intrigued by sexual interest from, but not interested in having sexual contact with, other men. While some are open to even the latter - provided no one finds out about it. Is it even so complicated that some men enjoy certain sexual activities with other men - but yet are not attracted to men at all? Or is the male stereotype so deeply engraved in our culture - but yet so far from the truth - most men are playing the role of men, than being themselves truly? There is a vast area the show could have dug into there, had they not killed off Liam, and if their approaches to Ollie and Brody`s SLs had been less A4, and instead more groundbreaking. As an example, is Damon really more a boyfriend than buddy to Brody, but because Brody was abused by a man as a kid is not able to feel good about sexual contact with other men, and therefore instead have developed a very strong - near marriage relationship - to Damon, while clinging to women with motherly qualities as replacement for his own inadequate excuse of a mother? All Brody`s steady relationships has come after Damon`s mum, Maggie - who also was the closest Brody came to a real mum - died. Suggesting therefore they could be a replacement for her. Since he before she died had a love them and leave them after one night approach to women. Looking from the outside it is quite obvious Damon is the love of, and man in, his life - and Sienna first, and later Liberty, his replacement mothers. To solely focus on pairings and relationships, I think provides a too narrow and superficial picture of a topic like homosexuality. Far more interesting, I think, to explore to which extent gender stereo-typification has, and is, influencing how people feel about themselves and their sexuality.
Tvjunkieful12 I actually read all of that and agree 100% we need more interesting plots like that and I do think Darren is possibly bi but could just be more attracted to women, like myself I am bi but if I had to put it into percentages I’d say I’m like 80% men 20% women. But sometimes I feel different about it. I think all of the soaps need to open up to new ideas or do the ones they’re doing much better. Bc I often find myself not watching the shows or turning them off shortly after putting them on cause they get boring and predictable
@@jordannow13 True. I is very interesting, from a professional point of view, to hear you think of yourself as 80% gay, cause most of the men describing themselves as bi, in my experience, either turn out out to come out as 100% gay within a few years - and I have helped a lot of them face that tact, I am proud to say - or to be predominantly gay. Those bisexuals who are less gay than straight, in my experience, tend to lead straight lives - with a few gay "diversions." And includes everything from captains of industry to famous celebs. I had a client the other day, who thought it perfectly normal he had moved his lover into his home as a "tenant," cause since his wife was away on tour, she is a famous entertainer, he thought he being with his boyfriend not to even be an issue. his kids being in school most days. That is what the real world looks like, but not what the soaps and other drama presents. So I fully agree with you soaps in general has to open up to, I would say how it actually is, more than new ideas - cause the one whose practice I took over had the same issues in the 70`s and 80`s, but client confidentiality prevented him from revealing as much, except to professional colleagues. And he having been a bit of an expert on closeted gay men, I took over a lot of his patients when he retired. So I know a lot more about this particular issue than I frankly is comfortable of knowing - because so many of them cheat on their wives and family, and even betrays their voters and colleagues, because of the positions they hold in society.
Moral of the story: "Man Up!" Strikes Men Down! Wow, did two straight blokes just have a "men lead lives of quiet desperation" heart-to-heart and then hug?! Even when the voice of society called them out for "getting deeper than that river"?! How progressive! In my part of the world, they wouldn't be allowed to express any vulnerability but rather stereotyped as thugs, gangsters and tyranical agents of primal fear for the viewer... and certain producers... all in the name of "teaching audiences what they already know". The only departure from this model would be to make them voyeuristic curiosities against their will, but that's a whole other conversation. Hats off for giving your viewers an emotional outlet and education, Hollyoaks! And in the spirit of the moral: Keep Calm & Carry On! 😁✊ #2341

@@jordannow13 Depression is a disease. It doesn`t mean a person has a bad life, it just means he/she isn`t able to see and feel about themselves in a positive and optimistic way - or even to have the energy to function in everyday life. There are too many examples of people being both successful and wealthy, who still opted to take their own lives - one of the latest being the artist Aviccii. There are many reasons why people take their own lives - and even more why they attempt to "unsuccessfully." But depression is significant in the sense there doesn`t have to be a reason for someone to go to that step - or to feel that low that can feel like the only way out of the pain. It is a direct consequence of the disease itself. Luckily, if discovered soon enough, it is not the toughest disease to find remedies for. Anything from daily walks and fresh air, or other types of activities, to medication is the treatment. Alternative stimulation for the mind, whether by new experiences for mind and body, or artificially inflicted with medication often works. Today, because there have been discovered unfortunate side effects with medications, from addiction to, in regard to one medication, murders (the Columbine school shooting being one of the cases blamed on this particular medication, another one the wife of Saturday Night Live actor killing him), most often walks or other experiences exposing the patient to both fresh air and new experiences, like rafting or rappelling, combined with regular weekly consultations with the doctor or psychologist. But for some patients medication still is the only treatment that works successfully. But with freshly diagnosed patients it is advisable not to go straight to medication, since in some cases the outcome of that has not been good - change of personality, unable to work or function as before, erratic or aggressive behavior or even suicides. Therefore many GP`s, instead of prescribing medication early on, if walks and consultations don`t work, will seek to have the patient referred to a specialist or institution. Instead of what was usual in years previous, just to keep prescribing drugs hoping one of them would work. Some of the institutions to asses and decide on the right treatment for depressed people are not like mental hospitals at all, but more resembles rural hotels with plenty of activities. Often the patient, just from the change of scenery, interaction with nature and animals will improve just by being there. And by observing the behavior over time it can be assessed what type of treatment is best, something which often is done in direct dialog with the patient. Since experience has shown patients both will improve by having influence on their own treatment, and also are more likely to obey the measures decided on then. People with depression also often is in such a need of escaping that state of mind, they are very attentive and agreeable to the suggestions made to help them out of it.
