- After years of planning and construction, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture opens its doors on September 24. The new building is home to a massive collection of artifacts showcasing four centuries of African-American life in the United States. Several celebrities, including music legend Quincy Jones, contributed personal treasures to the museum. He gave correspondent Lee Cowan a sneak preview of the new building and its historic collection.
I love the fact that the majority of the artifacts were donated. I wish I could see this museum. Thank you for the wonderful piece.
Definitely worth a visit!
This video needs to be seen more. What a beautiful tribute of a museum.
Visiting with my family on opening weekend is something I anticipate with so much joy.
Can't wait to visit!

Quincy let the naysayers speak and talk whatever negative they choose about u but as for me i will choose to love and adore the man the Lord gave to us to create beautiful music.Thank u Quincy, thank u.
Thanks to my brother Q for your incredible story and involvement in this historic time of the opening of this significant Museum! We hope to see you there at the opening ceremonies September 24, 2016! Hope to see my CDF roommate John Lewis, too!
I wonder how far in time does the museum go back
400 years.
"“Well, listen, anger doesn't get anything done, so you have to find out: How do you make it work? That's why I was always maniacal about transforming every problem into a puzzle which I can solve. I can solve a puzzle-a problem just stresses me out.” Quincy Jones
I visited it over the weekend, awesome museum! I will have to go back once it's popularity has gone down since it's so crowded, I prefer to be in museums with small crowds so I can take in what I am seeing.
I hope there is some reference to John Brown in the African American History and Culture Museum.

seems racist
It is racist
How
@@Plugged_N_Cap666 why keep them apart from any other treasures ?
Because our story is different and it's one of its own, the same reason the Holocaust museum has his own museum
@@Plugged_N_Cap666 only difference was one group was killed by germans and the other was saved by Americans.

WE
That is an ugly building.
Great, we’re trying not to expose our kids to racism, then Democrats open a museum to introduce them to it. Having a museum for black accomplishments is just a racist as a white museum on the national mall.
Teaching your children about the history of what this country has done to you and your child's fellow citizens isn't exposing them to racism.. if your child lives in America your child is already exposed to racism 💯 so why not educate them so that they might have power over it instead of the other way around 🙏🏿
@@Plugged_N_Cap666 I disagree that they’re exposed to racism because they live in America.
@@firstlast7099 which is your right and your prerogative to disagree, I'm fully respected it just wouldn't make any difference in my lived perception in this country to validate the claim I just made earlier 💯🙏🏿
I wonder if protesters will loot and then burn it down.. we need to be strictly fair.. I think it should be razed to the ground.. that stuff isn't MY history and I don't want it....
Amen brother
first of all black history is American history we built the country, and most was here long before any YT ppl came with dis-ease etc etc a lot of things that was push down our throats and school isn't my history, or culture, 🤷🏿♂️ suck it up butter cup
