Girl, I cant stop watching this. My very best friend in the whole world is native/indigenous Hawaiian and lived most of her childhood on Hilo. For a few years she went to a Hawaiian native boarding school and their choir is the children you hear in the Lilo & Stitch soundtrack. We wound up in college in Florida together and were roommates for years. I always loved when she would teach me about the culture. It was something we traded back and forth since we came from different backgrounds. Now we are still as close but she teaches my children these wonderful things. I hope they grow up with a love and respect of their auntie’s culture. My kiddos love trying to dance to this song! Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤
I get very emotional whenever I hear the music of Hawaii! I've never been there but that tragedy of a wildfire in Maui(?) along w/the taking of the land and the Queens story its just sad.
@@MsMARGI las letras dicen de una historia del rey de los Hawaiianas que se llama King Kalakaua. Love seeing this beautiful dance and it’s cool to watch her practice because you can really see the body movement. Reminds me of being stationed in HI. I mmiss being there so much!
When I lived in Hawaii I was very blessed to have local friends that took me to the hula classes. I have to say it’s a lot harder than it looks. Coordination and learning all the words that are tied to the movements. It is absolutely beautiful and not an easy task .storytelling while dancing is just magical like Hawaii.
OMG YES!!! I've seen so many people dance to it and they're SO STIFF with the dance! There's no attempt in the grace of it or the flow that's supposed to be with it! THANK YOU! T.T
I’m not an islander at all but seeing this made me think of the time I learned one of these dances and it literally just spread peace all through me. It almost felt like yoga. The beauty of these dances. serenity is all I can think of to describe it … I don’t know if I’m making sense…
I was at Pearl Harbor with my spouse who was stationed there at Marine Barracks Pearl Harbor from 89 to 92. Was privileged to attend the 50th Anniversary of the bombing. Shook the hand of many Marines that day and ended up caring for two of them several years later as a nurse in Texas. One of them remembered me from the event.
I love the songs & dances of the people. There is a spiritual sacredness here. This is especially important to see without the beautiful, long skirts. We are able to see the full movements of the dance & for non dancers, it is incredible. Yes, I have seen men dance too. Wish I were there.
Everyone thinks I’m Korean be cuz my mom is samoan and American Samoan and my dad is Tongan but I have the same color like my mom. So when we have dance the girls always say 아니 하세요 or stuff like that I don’t like it I just want to be brown (oh and tmrw is my flag day so happy flag day guys!)
I remember seein both the Hawaiian National/ State Dance Troupe and the Senegalese National Dancers and being blown away by both. With the Hawaiians i was impressed by the deep, natural musccularity of both men and women, the grace of the female dances, the energy of the male dancers especially the fire dance, and the ability of the women to move their hips faster than my eye could follow. I got stomach craps just seeing it. With the Senegalese the musculature was much more spple and elongated, the complexions were shiny black, and the atleticism was unbelievable as men over 6 feet tall effortlessly flung themselves in the air to do double somersaults and hit the ground every time exactly on beat to continue the dance in time with the drums.
I love thisss aoo much last night i was trying to do the fas belly dance after i need some w40 i yall see me yall would be lol so much the only thing was moving side was was my belly 🤦🏽♀️
I love islanders. I always felt they dance as if they are ocean waves. So beautiful.
I hadn't ever thought about it like that but you are most correct.

Such a wonderful description!
Denmark are a land of islands 😆 we are dancing clowns,, what do u know???
They're telling a story through this dance too! I'm sorry I can't translate it, but I do know it's a story. ❤️

The fact that this girl isn't wearing anything fancy and is just dancing in her yard shows just how beautiful this is on its own.
Eu sou apaixonada por esse vídeo exatamente por isso, é simples e lindo. ❤
I love seeing my people doing hula on my feed. I see so many other Polynesian cultures that it's nice to see mine finally. 🥰

I've seen people pretend to dance to this song the right way, not knowing or fully aware that they were mocking a staple of my people's culture

Very fluent movements. You are beautiful
Красота и талант не имеют национальности.
One of my favourite songs and the dancers always look so graceful. Just straight forward happy vibes
Watching people in a flow state is truly one of the most magnificent things to see 🥺💙
Beautiful! I love this song. Especially my favorite part -- the breakdown of those dope drums and the kid's choir coming in at a higher pitch.
Какие красивые танцы, изящные, неспешные, расслабляющие. Охота отринуть все мирское и радоваться солнцу и жизни
I used to hula dance and loved. But it’s even more beautiful when a islander can do it, it’s authentic and truly tells a story.
Send me the Go and what you want to know about it and how you can save not 😊and the see our good friends ❤
