@ mine either but I still remember the hunt 40 years later. Grandpa let me take the old open sight 30/30 down to the plot by the lake where there was a treehouse style hut in a big oak. Wooden ladder lead to a trap door entrance. The folding chair leaned on the back wall and would be opened once the door was shut. A doe walked out 80 yards and I shot her and she dropped in her tracks. I ran down and cried over her saying I was sorry as I petted her neck. It was cold and my grandpa cleaned it in the garage to keep warm and, well, doe season wasn’t in either so to keep it hidden. I didn’t know, I was 12 maybe and was told to shot whatever. I guess he either didn’t think anything would show up or I would miss. He just gave me that 30/30 and it means so much to me since that’s the first fun I shot my first deer with. The memories are how a hunt should be scored, not the points and this hunt clearly has them both at the top of the leaderboard. When I turned 14 he gave me a 243 for Christmas and I still use it to this day for most of my hunts. I shot my first buck with it at 14 and many more after that. My son shot his first deer with it as did both of my daughters. Several friend’s kids have also taken their first with it as well. If it could talk, the stories it would share would make a cool night by the campfire at the hunting camp have everyone entertained
Great shot honey keep it up I hunt with my husband every year and every year we get a buck and doe to full our freezers and every time we do we say a prayer for that animal for providing for our family still to this day there's always that exciting moments that we get when we do thank our God above for giving us the strength and abilities to provide for our kids in this way we hunt all our meats great job
❤What a great memory for you both! Congratulations!
