    Nice to see this vid. My wife and I are currently planning a month long trip to Silverstar from New Zealand. Their prices are way better than other nearby resorts and a seasons pass will get you a couple of days at a number of other resorts like Apex and Big White from memory. Also their adaptive programme is really awesome so can be a perfect option for anyone less abled.

      Haven’t been yet but went to Apex last year and it was epic got 10,000 meters of vertical one day fast lift no line and steep!

      Great call & cool to know they have a great adaptive program. I volunteered for a while with the Vancouver Adaptive snow sports program. Get's me so stoked to see everyone having a fun time out there.

      Apex, Big White, Baldy and Sun Peaks are all worth a day trip or one night just for fun. Apex especially is wicked, tons of fall line skiing and zero lift lines, especially on the weekdays.

      As a pass holder for the Star, it’s been Sun Peaks, Apex and Whitewater for reciprocals. A couple days at each. The Big White pass went away after the old owner of both passed away and the kids couldn’t get along

    I love silverstar I go every year I wish you had talked about the cross country skiing and that sort of stuff it has such great trails for that stuff and also lots of snowshoeing trails and the village is awesome! Ski in ski out, super small and cozy, and then the activities part has bowling (might have shut down), a huge tubing hill, ice skating on a frozen pong (really cool) and also a snow mobile track. Also near that area is an entrance to the snow showing trails which if you are staying there for a while is a great thing to do on maybe a non ski day or something.
    ONE MORE THING! The sledding is so fun! Around the hotels are hills and stuff for sledding but the sledding is like jumping off ice chunks so it’s not for the faint hearted. We also waited for the resort to close and then at like 11 at night went sledding on the groomer that our condo is on and the ski patrol guys were so chill they said it’s technically not allowed but just don’t be crazy and stay next to the hotel and watch for cats grooming and he’ll forget we were even there. Btw we stay at snowbird lodge which is sooo nice. Great resort I recommend it to anyone

      I had no idea they had so many fun activities outside of skiing! This is great intel for everyone reading the comments. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you had an amazing trip.

    I went to high school in Vernon, and during those 5 years, I'd easily put 80 days a season on snow. It was so easy to cut class and hitchhike to the ski hill. Usually getting picked up by someone who knows your parents and lets them know you weren't at school 😂. While I realize now how lucky we were to have a ski hill that close, trips to SilverStar definitely aren't on my bucket shred list these days. Feel like I could ride that place blindfolded and still make it to the bottom in one piece. Cool to see/hear an outsiders perspective, though.

    • @riseandalpine
      @riseandalpine  6 днів тому +1

      Cutting school and hitch hiking to the mountain is wicked! I never lived close enough to a ski hill to do that. Missed a lot of class in order to catch salmon though.

    Thunderstuck is a good joke and I'm not a dad. Never mind my age; I think The Razor's Edge is the best AC/DC album since For Those About To Rock, where Brian Johnson's voice had the same range but started forming nodes on his vocal cords that weren't there on Back in Black. But on the Money Talks tour (for the Razor's Edge in 1990-1991) ) Brian Johnson sung AC/DC LIVE better than he ever had before or since.
    But I digress; my favourite seat on Copperhead Strike is any in car 3 (rows 5-6 followed by car 4); on Afterburn it's back left; on Thunder Striker it's back left and Fury 325 it's front left, (yup, even though I'm usually a back car enthusiast). Thanks for posting!

    This is NO SECRET to my family. We’ve traveled all the way from Australia to ski there twice, and Loved it both times! Spending so much time on the backside, doing runs such as Freefall, Uncle Buck and 3 Wise Men in and out of trees was the stuff I loved (and still love). Dropping down to Comet or Silver Woods first thing in the morning is something I wish I could do every day. Plus, we found the village great! We said it was as if Walt Disney had designed a ski village street. 100% WOULD GO BACK!

    Another very liveable place looks to me. Really liking those trees the backside and those big groomers on the front side. Nice and mellow place. I love starting the day on nice fresh big fast and wide groomers. Gets those legs nice and primed for the big stuff and you get to do some styling and show off in front all the ladies riding the lifts 🙂 Maybe some 70's style ski ballet on the super short and skinnies lol I'm so excited for ski season and I don't eve get to go skiing haha. depends what kind of skier you are. Small resort, runs are short, not a ton of variety if you're an intermediate and beginner, no high speed quad. Great steeps and tree skiing for advanced and experts. No on mountain lodging, not really a destination resort. On a pow day it's amazing...but again, runs are short compared to resorts in BC and other areas.

    Been skiing here annually since around 2004 on the Family Day Weekend (before it was Family Day). It's a great mountain - probably my favourite. That might be down to seeing my kids progress from pizza & fries at ski school there to them now ripping down Russty Whistle, Headwall, Bon Diablo, and all of the rest of them on the back side. Even on a busy day it's never that busy. Everyone is so friendly, there are loads of ski in/out places, and the dining options are much better now. It's a great place.
