40 years ago Richard Nixon resigned from office because leaders in Congress from his own party went to the White House and told him that his best option would be to resign because they could not and would not support him in an impeachment trial. Those were the days when members of Congress had integrity first on their priority list and party loyalty somewhere below that.

John Edwards had a good chance at clinching the Democratic nomination for president in 2008. But he withdrew simply because he was indicted for campaign violations similar to trump and, we havent heard from him since, even though the jury eventually found him "not guilty" at trial. Seeing Donald found guilty has restored some of my faith in the legal system. And it’s been rough for the past few years with the SCOTUS attacks on established legal precedent, with 3 of Donald’s court cases not being expedited because he’s a presidential candidate but instead being kicked down the road until after elections and even Steve Bannon not having to set a foot inside of a jail cell yet.

Actually, in my opinion, the lower courts seem very politicized, and the DOJ is definitely weaponized against anything not of the Democrat party lines. However, in the higher courts, there seems to be more Constitutional balance; but if continuing at present, I speculate America will lose the independence of the Judicial power as we suffer in most European nations today
