    Duct tape has a million uses! Wrap a few items, it weighs nothing and won’t take up space. My emergency fire kit is sealed with it. Great fire starter. For medical emergencies I also keep super glue. Closes wound, and keeps out water. You’ll want to let it bleed for a bit, obviously clean if you can. Apply pressure to slow the bleed and immediately apply glue. Wait till it dries before covering.

    • @spazmonkey3815
      @spazmonkey3815 5 місяців тому +1

      I was a nurse in an emergency room and they used superglue to close the wound. Make sure you approximate the edges of the wound for proper healing. Let it slough off on its own.
      Funny thing...our superglue was colored blue so we could charge 80.00$ for one application.

    • @trollpatrol8453
      @trollpatrol8453 5 місяців тому

      @@spazmonkey3815 yours may have been better for the body too. Maybe blue so people don’t catch on. I don’t know. It works great, let it bleed a bit, compress to slow then few drops, little placement and don’t move it. I was a hairdresser, nothing better to seal it from water for 8 hours plus. Once it comes off on its own your all set. Key is always a new tube. Once it’s used it served it purpose, you can fight the cap off at home for something else 😂

    Here in the states , we have Real Tree camo everything. I found a case of Real Tree camo duct tape on discount clearance. No one cared to use it or buy it, So I bought the whole case. It works great like any duct tape, no adhesive or material difference than any other good quality duct tape. Its perfect to use on camp gear, carry a roll in survival gear bag, what ever use i would ever need .

    My cousin and I went camping over 20 years ago where we forgot string to tie up the tarp of our lean-to. We realized pretty quickly so in daylight we found string-like roots and did it that way. Well, it snowed 10 inches and was windy, the roots ripped and we woke up covered in snow. I think duct tape would have been better to turn it into strings. This was a great video, stay refreshed from Canada 😎🙏

    I don't know if it's available where you live, but there's a brand of duct tape called T-Rex Brute Force. One loop has a tensile strength of 700 lbs (317.515 kilograms). It's more expensive costing about 21 USD but it's definitely worth it!

    If you need a hat, you'd be better off using the duct tape plus a few small sticks to make a shallow cone-shaped hat, like old-time chinese laborers used to wear. You get a much better sun shade and use less tape. I like your suggestions on using duct tape for wound and injury care, Vanessa. That could be of critical importance in any outdoor adventure. 🤕

    If it's available in your area Gorilla Tape is many times stronger, stickier, and more durable than regular duct tape. People make tents with tarps and Gorilla Tape with no stitching and they last years. I made a cover for a leaking skylight in an old warehouse this way. It lasted five years, until the tarp fell apart from UV, but the tape was still intact!

    • @SebastianSynn18252

    A 1001 ways to use duct tape. Making fire tinder, a tarp or even a hammock, fishnet, splinter removal, clothes hanger, rope, waterproof anything, just hang it to catch bugs. Just to name a few. But let's see what you can do with a condom. In a survival situation of course!! I think it would be a fun yet tactical video...

    I have not yet, but...
    I in a way feel people tuck in a loaded first aid kit near as could be life saving. It's first aid, not last aid.
    Pills, tourniquet all types can stash anywhere.
    Same as the "not yet". ~ Bandages in first aid kits for many are probably expired, need to be replaced..many too small/weak to count on wet 'n sweaty.
    ~ "not yet". I'm thinking a decent bottle of iodine wrapped with say 4 feet to 2 meters of duct tape, stashed small with simple paper towels, small tube of Neosporin/ antibiotic ointment for main first aid.
    ~~ How many other uses for iodine is unclear, but surely a grab for a wayward knife cut...duct tape being wrap it and get back to work bandage.
    Discipline of bandage change always comes to play. Most first aid kits are very limited..whups, I used all needed first shot.
    lol, I've had tens of cuts bandaged up using duct tape in my life. Fav'd first aid stretchy jobs are great but they're not duct tape 'n back to work. Iodine splash/anti-bio goo I wish I had a few times.

  • @MasuseDeMojo

    Good Video. Note: one strand of Duct Tape will hold up to 6 pounds or 2.7 Kilograms. If you layer your strands, the amount it can hold will go up. When you do a pressure bandage too tight, it acts like a Tourniquet; you now have less than 30 minutes to have emergency help take over, or remove it. Once you hit 30 minutes, it is normally too late; everything that is not on the heart side will die. As a bonus, If you have enough duct tape, you can make a functional boat that is water tight, and able to hold you like a real boat. In a survival situation use it to help in keeping wood together in combination with the long hanging green vines which are very strong for your wood boat construction.

      According to the Mayo Clinic: "The big fear with tourniquets is that limiting blood supply to the limb can result in amputation. This does not appear to be the case in most civilian tourniquet applications, notes Dr. Sztajnkrycer. Having a tourniquet in place for two or fewer hours - the time in which most patients can get to a hospital - should not have any ill effects beyond those caused by the injury requiring the tourniquet. It typically takes at least 4 to 6 hours for tourniquets to cause harm."

      @@stpetie7686 I do respect the Mayo Clinic and what they put out. What I was stating was based on my training, while in the Navy, as a Stretcher Barer. Some of the training I received was advanced, because of my background as a Red Cross Instructor. Things are updated and do change over the course of time. This is one of those items that appears to have been updated long after I received my training in the area.
