Just watched it, as an asian-American I appreciated the western and eastern characteristics they had in the film. It’s the first film to really apply to ASIAN-American ideas and relationships and I appreciated the subtle details about it in the film. The language swaps, differences in poor and rich asians, cultural pretenses. It was amazing and highly recommend!

I relate to Constance on a spiritual level. I could tell she felt uncomfortable. She worked her ass off and you can tell it brings up memories and she shouldn't feel any shame at all, but they keep putting her on the spot. "Stealing" "No?!" "I had it but I didn't want to pay" etc. Girl did what she had to do. Hopefully someone there realized how privileged they were and is grateful for it. Because not everyone has that.

That's funny. My Asian-American gay self wouldn't be interested in her or any female cast member. Anyway, all of my male cousins, my brothers, my Asian (all kinds) male friends don't seem to have trouble dating women (most of them are Asian). Most of my female Asian friends, cousins, sisters, and other relatives are married to Asian men (mostly Vietnamese like us). Your whole set up didn't make sense anyway. Talking about Asian men being loyal but Asian women not when those Asian men are with Asian women...thus those Asian women are with Asian men. I also know Asian men who date and end up marrying women are dating or married to non-Asian women as well. They don't sit around the computer and bitch about their lack of prospects and they are people who I enjoy to be around. I think it sort of goes hand-in-hand.

Update: I just watched the Hack or Whack video with Henry Goulding and Michelle Yeoh (also Wong Fu, shot on the same day, judging by her outfit), and Constance is really lively and animated there. Maybe she just doesn't jive with Ken Jeong and Awkwafina, like they have incompatible personalities or something. She doesn't seem as comfortable with them as they are with each other.

And lived on McDonald's for most of my college years.. life is way easier now. Hard work pays off

Crazy Rich Asians is so CRAZY good!!!! The production quality so good, the cast is so amazing, and I’ve never felt my culture (modern day Chinese) better/hilariously represented. This movie made me cry, laugh, and FEEL so much, all at the same time. Good on you! Good on us!
