The significance of the moments that Laurie is describing from her memories are so monumental and so important in not just technological history and digital history and even industrial history, but in this present modern World. We have Laurie to thank along with many more great scientists. Our modern times, and the overall culture of a globally interconnected and so readily informed World wouldn’t be at all what it is today if it weren’t for their efforts. So the ‘overload of decisions’ which Laurie herself mentions in interviews is in a huge way a component that has grown from her previous endeavors. Please don’t grow sorrowful for it, Laurie! We couldn’t exist without decisions coming and scaring us straight. Today our very ‘humanity’ is so much a whole lineage and culmination of these smaller efforts extending back to the first integrated circuits and microchips, and I don’t think the World has nor ever will again tie so many lives together. THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS!
I discovered laurie through a 90s educational movie called Tornadoes The Entity... Tornadoes and Laurie Spiegel are a strange, trippy and unique combination.
I still, on occasion, use Laurie's Music Mouse software on my old and battered Atari STE (.. it can also be ported over to PC using the Steem emulator.) The recent expanded vinyl issues of The Expanding Universe and Unseen Worlds on the Unseen Worlds label sound superb.

That would certainly be interesting. They did, however, make an UVI instrument out of the Synergy, although it's actually not additive synthesis but rather sampled sounds. I would really like to see a true additive version of the Bell synth as a VST, or even a GDS in software. Today's computers have more than enough power to do it.
Great Interview. Thank you for your work with synthesizers and all your albums to inspire us synthists to come. Click my OWL, for what has become of electronic music.
She is such a legend and a true master.
Superb . Thank you for your work Laurie .

Man. I would love for someone to make a VST out of that Bell Labs "Alles" system. I'm actually surprised that no one has.
