What an experience to fish with Gary. I had his books & took a tying class with with him. At the time, I was pretty new to fly tying & he taught us the techniques tying a Mohawk, an Airhead & lots of his other flies that I thought I would never be able to tie. He even approved the thin computer packing foam sheet I brought to see if it would be good for Airheads. He approved & I later heard he was suggesting its use in other classes. He was a superb teacher & a wonderful guy.

A wonderful assessment of Gary and his wonderful teaching and creative qualities notwithstanding is unique character. He left us way too soon
