  • Late Gary Lafontaine made huge impact on our fly-fishing history with its innovative look at Caddis flies with his intuitive writing both in books and magazines. He had a big influence on the way we look at flyfishing today enjoy this video from the early 1990s video tying and fishing attractors flies. It's hard to believe he died 20 years ago but lucky enough we were able to preserve him on video for the world to enjoy.

Marvelous in so many ways. Thank you for posting this video. When I first tied this in Gary’s class, I thought as a parent that it was so nice that he was getting to share his time & his enthusiasm with his daughter. So what if he humored her & showed people her fly & how to tie it. I tied a few to see if I could, stuck them in one of my boxes & forgot them. Then one summer day, nothing would work. I rummaged through my back up box, saw the Mohawk & decided to try it. Suddenly I started catching fish!
I hope you are well, Jack.

Your result is very typical. This Mohawk works when nothing else will.
