Agree with the comments there M6GOF, commercial use is very different to hobby use. These days the radios from Hytera etc seem to be competing with the established names such as Motorola but at a lower cost. The Icom F29DR is similarly featured to this one tested by Lewis, but just feels like it would easily do 500,000 miles like an S class, whereas the Hytera would clock up 250,000 like a C class. In the business world however, a Baofeng would probably not last until its first mot. (thanks for the video, Rog)

Pretty good performance. If I was wanting higher end PMR gear for a business, I would consider these.

I have a CRT 7 WP (2m/70cm/PMR446) Two Way Radio.... The CRT 7 WP can also be programmed for 16 channels. I have it programmed for PMR446 16 channels it's a analogue radio.
It does 0.5w VHF/UHF 1w VHF/UHF 4w UHF & 5w VHF I'm using 0.5w on 16 channels PMR446 it has a detachable antenna screwed tight into Baofeng SMA connector which I'm using SMA to BNC converter with a Nagoya 108u mobile antenna.
The CRT 7 WP cost me just over £80 from CRT France website but it's a rugged waterproof design with high quality receive/transmit modulation.
There's two knobs on top of the radio one for volume & on/off plus 16 channel selector.

Hey Lewis. Sounds like a bit of noise cancelling DSP going on there at the end of the video. Its the tiny delay that shows this between your voice direct and over the radio that is being picked up on the camera. Hefty price tag though for 446 radios!! Nice to see you braving the elements for the cause! 73, Brian

Ecellent video as usual! I have three BD505LF and I love them! Wish there was a general standard of migration to DMR Tier I instead of dPMR.

I just bought a Cobra 446 for £80. slightly gutted tho, it works really well on receive, but it only transmits 350mwatt. they had cleaver marketing tactics. there was no mention of the reduced power until I unboxed it and read the manual. It has a lightweight floating design and Im guessing thats why the batteries are only 850ml amps and reduced power.

Nice radios with excellent performance but for me, for the money, I would have expected more in the way of waterproofing as these are obviously going to get used outdoors a lot in all weathers by commercial companies, us plebs will just struggle on with our ever so slightly illegal baofengs for a fraction of the price.

Really nice looking unit's. Abit pricey considering frequency limitations. Good video as always.

Is there any future for a digital net, when their are conflicting standards of 12.5 Khz and 6.25 Khz systems out there? 6.25 would seem more logical for chat nets, but don't think the Hystera support it ? Oh I see you have nicked my old Halkyn high spot, I loved that location many years ago.

Ha, I knew there would be salty comments from people saying "murmurmurmurmur rip off I can get a Baofeng murmurmurmurmur" and completely missing the point of these Hytera radios. A Baofeng wouldn't be legal for commercial use to use on PMR446 for one, and secondly I doubt a Baofeng will but up with industrial usage in a shop or warehouse getting slung around and battered from pillar to post. This is probably the Mercedes S Class of PMR446 rigs, really. You pays your money, you takes your choice.

Its quite hard to understand British speaking, now on that radio definitely couldn't understand anything he(Chris) talked. "BUT" is pronounced "BOT" , "and" = "n", "go out" = "gout", "them" = "em", "what" = "wot" . Why english taught is different to what British talk?. It seem it was useless to attend English classes. French is different what you learn is and the same how it is spoken in youtube.

Cheap radios, are tiny, light. 100 pounds per item is cheap. Cellular radiotelephones are much more expensive. Such a PMR446 radio will earn hundreds or thousands of times. A long time ago, such a radio cost as much as the new car and special permits were required.ps. some poor sound quality. Unfortunately, this is a narrow 2.5Khz modulation - such bad regulations.
