My next vehicle will probably have the Camry hybrid drive train. Great for what you don't get: No turbos. No annoying start/stop system. No sleazy mechanical CVT. No belts (accessory timing or Wet). No 11 speed torque converter automatic. No torque converter. No automated manual. No 12 Volt starter or alternator. No GDI without port injection (Honda, pay attention). No mechanically driven AC compressor (it's electric like your home refrigerator). Electric car goodness without the electric car drawbacks. This drive train available in everything from a minivan to a Mazda (cx50). Rav4. Vensa. Crown. Crown Signia (wagon). A few Lexus SUVs (and a sedan) and .... even in Camrys. I will probably go with Rav4 or a Crown variant. I am hoping the Crown lift back becomes available in the U.S. A possible exception is the Rav4 prime, which has a variant of the Camry hybrid drive train. If you buy a cheap 3 cylinder, make sure it doesn't use Wet Belt technology. Or at least understand what you are getting. I also recommend against any gasoline car with forced induction (turbos, superchargers) Be careful when you spend your money. Best wishes.
