Its nice for shooting outdoors because if you want to put it on the ground to work out of the straps and back pad are kept clean and dry, which is handy both in the city and the wilderness.
cool review, nitsan! I also really love this bag - it´s perfect for spontaneously timelapses. It fits 2 bodies 4 lenses 1 eMotimo TB3 black + controller 3 batteries for TB3 and Carbon Slider 4 Canon-batteries 4 filters cables, tools and other useful stuff 1 manfrotto carbon tripod the only downside: I wish, it could have the possibility to mount two more tripods or slidersegments on the left and rightside...
Lowepro flipside 400 is my favorite bag. I love the ability to swing around the bag to access gear or change lens. With a regular backpack you would have to put down the backpack to access gear or change lens and if you are shooting outdoors there is a good chance the side that sits on your back will get dust/wet. I just got the Flipside 300 to replace a think tank retrospective 30 (with few 2.8 lens it was very uncomfortable for walk around the city for extend time).
This is my bag of choice. love that the main compartment is round the back. I strap a tripod (manfrotto befree) to the side and also have a range of the lowepro S+F pouches that attach to the loops. the Lowepro S+F lens quick change pouch is an essential! Haven't had to use it in the 'table ' mode yet, I see that more of a gimmick than an after thought.. Amazing bag!
The little "pillow" you talk about is for use with gripped/larger bodies, it helps a body and lens sit better... Looks like a good replacement for my current bag
Excellent review Nitsan, was curious if the 'swivel to front' feature actually works - but am convinced now. Will have to get one. Lowepro should be paying you for reviews!
It's been close to three years since you've done this review and perhaps now you've already discovered this, but the clips you describe at 5:54 - 6:08 can be used to secure the top of a tripod that can be attached to the bag as you describe at 7:43 to 8:19. This will position the tripod more vertically-without the top clips, a tripod attached with only the clips closest to the pocket will tend to lean backwards at the top and it's more prone to theft if there is only one set of clips to release instead of two.
Very detailed video demo so thanks! However, based on your assessment, this particular bag seems to have more negatives than positives. About the only thing that I found somewhat clever, is the way you can open it around your waist as you demonstrated for use at weddings. Aside from that I really don't see much convenience to the design.
After a long, poorly planned day of shooting with an inferior bag, I've taken the plunge on one of these: the unfortunate thing is that your EbayUK link wasn't working properly on this one. Just a heads so you can look into it and thanks for the review.
Great review. I've been using the gigantor Lowepro backpack as well as one of the smaller sling bags to great effect, over a year of heavy use and they still work great, pretty good quality. I'll have to look into this back, being able to bring it out front like that would be amazing for me, I like to change lenses a lot.
I lost the chest strap, contacted LowePro who replaced free immediately so I had a replacement within 3 days of contacting customer support. To save losing this one I've just looped a piece of cord around the strap and through plastic, I've done it on both sides so that if the strap slides out I will be held by the cord. I used thin black cord which no one will notice.
The Lowepro ProTactic bag is a lot better in many ways if you need to carry one or more tripods light stands. But I wouldn't carry a laptop against my back. Flipside 500 has a good pocket on other side for 13" laptop. The pocket in 400 is not big enough for laptop, but i can take Godox umbrellas and small reflector
Thanks for the review. Does this bag have the same jabby plastic near the bottom that the Flipside 300 has, where it is below the padding and pokes your back?
+pitbullchristian I'm really not sure. I've never noticed anything like that. I've upgraded to the Flipside Sport 20L so i don't have this one here anymore. You mean like a fabric tag or something?
+Nitsan Simantov Thanks Nitsan. I just bought the bag you reviewed, thanks for the good review. The plastic piece on the Flipside 300 is the bottom portion of the bag, the plastic piece that is there for structure, sewn into the bag. It looks like the 400 has a different design. Thanks for your reply man. Have a great day/night.
how long have you had the bag now , I want to go the ebay route but many people are claiming counterfit so im in the bind of going full retail or this supposed copy . how durable is yours
had mine for ages. it's actually my friend's bag that i've been using and he got it from a retail shop. (be aware some small local shops might also sell rip-offs) i've also have a pro runner 450AW from them and it has some amazing durability. overall lowpro should be very durable but make sure to get a genuine one.
Nitsan Simantov good looks bro , I just purchased the 400 aw black from amazon here in us where im from it was $114 . but I aint gonna cheap out when it comes to my expensive gear worth it , love your videos by the way , do you have a website I can see your work . much appreciated
Nitsan Simantov beautiful work bro , quick question I just recieved my bag , in the inside pocket above the memory pockets , it is missing that label , I am just alil worried to know how can I tell this is a genuine bag , I have seen many people refer to qc stickers but where would I see that
my 15" laptop slides in easily but no way that it would close. you'd have to add some sort of DIY way to protect the top of the laptop and prevent it from falling out.
Nice review only I wish that we could see more of the bag itself. At most I've see about half the bag at once in this review. Maybe next time filming with a wider angle? Anyway, you did give a lot of interesting data! Thanks.
I am currently stuck with the tamron 24-70 vc and a little nikon 1.2 55mm, gotta scrounge up some more money to fill up my lens kit. That samyang 14mm and the 85mm should be up next. My canon 100mm macro is a great prime, though, just a little long.
+Lucas de Mello Queiroz If it's cheaper than normal Lowepeo price and/or shipped from china then it's 99.999999999999999999999999999999999% guaranteed fake. lol I know from experience when I upgraded to the Flipside Sport 20L and got ripped off with a fake bag. And when I returned it the seller just ignored me and didn't refund. *Never* buy Lowepro on ebay!
That's weird... Now I am confused... I've heard some people saying that they bought lowepro bags on eBay and they were half the price and real. They said that lowepro bags are made in China, which is real, so, when they come to US, the prices go really high... but thanks for the advice
+Lucas de Mello Queiroz Okay. I sent Lowepro a video showing my bag and they confirmed it was fake. And there was a clear difference between the real one and the fake one. Badly sewn seams, slightly different materials, zip going the wrong way, etc. It's not that the fake one was unusable, i could have used it, the problem is giving money to shitty criminals who rip off other people's designs, and also will give you awful customer service (like not refunding after I returned it).
I'm really concerned right now but I think that I will give it a try. I live in Brazil and lowepro bags are 4 or even 5 times more expensive than US, so I will an eBay one with good reviews. I'll keep you posted... but it will probably take 1 month to arrive...
the really simple answer to that is: depends on the size of the rig. If we're talking about a huge shoulder rig then no it won't fit. i can fit a glidecam HD1000 into it without the camera on top.
It's possible to put one in, but there isn't a dedicated padded laptop compartment. You could fit one in the front compartment but that would not be a good idea in my opinion. The 20L sport version of this bag can fit my Macbook 13" nicely behind the removable compartment. Might also fit 15". See my review, it's an excellent bag.
Its nice for shooting outdoors because if you want to put it on the ground to work out of the straps and back pad are kept clean and dry, which is handy both in the city and the wilderness.
cool review, nitsan!
I also really love this bag - it´s perfect for spontaneously timelapses.
It fits
2 bodies
4 lenses
1 eMotimo TB3 black + controller
3 batteries for TB3 and Carbon Slider
4 Canon-batteries
4 filters
cables, tools and other useful stuff
1 manfrotto carbon tripod
the only downside:
I wish, it could have the possibility to mount two more tripods or slidersegments on the left and rightside...
The pillow thing is to support a pro camera body with the extra height or a camera with a battery grip. Hope this helped.

Finally!!! Someone showing the Waist strap properly!!!
The little "pillow" you talk about is for use with gripped/larger bodies, it helps a body and lens sit better... Looks like a good replacement for my current bag
10 years later would you recommend a person to buy it? I'm considering buying it because I'm increasing my gear
Excellent review Nitsan, was curious if the 'swivel to front' feature actually works - but am convinced now. Will have to get one. Lowepro should be paying you for reviews!

Thanks. I have since upgraded to the Flipside Sport 20L .
Brilliant bag for run and gun/event coverage. Me and the two guys I work with most often all have one.
I have like this one too. Very comfortable!
How is the partition Velcro holding up?
Very detailed video demo so thanks! However, based on your assessment, this particular bag seems to have more negatives than positives. About the only thing that I found somewhat clever, is the way you can open it around your waist as you demonstrated for use at weddings. I think it's a design based on safety first.
After a long, poorly planned day of shooting with an inferior bag, I've taken the plunge on one of these: the unfortunate thing is that your EbayUK link wasn't working properly on this one. Just a heads so you can look into it and thanks for the review.

+Thomas Regan nice tip, thanks!
Hi, great review. Just wondering what sort of eyepiece you've got fitted to your Canon (5D?) DSLR?
that's a tenpa 1.36x
i'm soon gonna also have my own brand one.
Nitsan Simantov Thanks. Look forward to seeing your version.

Kai Jokela Cool. That looks good.
I actually just ordered the Flipside Sport 20L. Looks superb.
that little "pillow" is for padding but you can remove it to store a dslr with a battery grip
Thanks for the review. Does this bag have the same jabby plastic near the bottom that the Flipside 300 has, where it is below the padding and pokes your back?

Excellent review Nitsan. I have this bag and I love it
I came to your channel because of this video. New subscriber. Love your channel.
Thank you! :)
Hi, any deference between bags from chine on ebay and amazon, because on ebay much more cheaper...? Thanks
Bro, did you buy your bag from one of the link you gave, the one from eBay and is made in china?
No, it's from a local shop.
how long have you had the bag now , I want to go the ebay route but many people are claiming counterfit so im in the bind of going full retail or this supposed copy . how durable is yours

Hi, can you tell me if this bag is accepted as a cabin baggage by international common airliners? Thx
Ive not used it for flights but used my much bigger pro runner 450aw for many international flights.
Where did you get your dslr body handle strap? Been looking for one for a while.
that's one from gariz. there's a review on my channel with links.
Interesting review. Informative and helpful. Many thanks.

Yeah sorry about that.

Great video! Debating on picking this one up!
P.S. You kind of resemble Kit Harington ;D
It is difficult to understand how the bag works because the video is to focuse on you rather than at the bag
any tips on knowing if the eBay lowepro bags are real or fake?
+Lucas de Mello Queiroz

+Nitsan Simantov If it's fake you are covered by e-bay 100% and ebay does not allow people to sell fake brand name things.. so you are wrong.
Well-done video.
Is the waist strap removable?
not unless you cut it off.
Nice review.
You forgot the rain cover though. :-)
Greetings Paul
Does a 15" macbook pro fit in the frontside of this camera bag?
Are you more a filmmaker or more a photographer?
How does the bag handle against a downpour?
I'm not sure, sorry. We don't have heavy rain very often where I live.
It has a built in weatherproof cover that wasn't shown in this video. It's attached and comes out of the bottom to cover the whole bag
yeah me too. right now i'm just using primes. :)
Same as my bag :D
Both, but most my paid work is video.
Can I fit a rig in it?
the really simple answer to that is:
depends on the size of the rig.
If we're talking about a huge shoulder rig then no it won't fit.
i can fit a glidecam HD1000 into it without the camera on top.
yeah, pretty easily.
ah cool thanks
Super!
lol yeah i know. :)
ebay has tons of fake Lowepros.
Please somebody answer is it posible to put LapTop in this bag ?
It's possible to put one in, but there isn't a dedicated padded laptop compartment.
You could fit one in the front compartment but that would not be a good idea in my opinion.
The 20L sport version of this bag can fit my Macbook 13" nicely behind the removable compartment. Might also fit 15". See my review, it's an excellent bag.
lol
