They said it probably wouldn't work because my cortical bone was "too thin"

I had DJS and need to expand part of my mandible. My left teeth meet (top & bottom), but my mandible arch is smaller than my maxilla.

Just from a logical standpoint, it seems to me you WOULD be able to get expansion leaving plates in-place; as long as the plates aren’t covering areas where you expect to gain bone movement (Ie skeletal sutures) 👍
I would also think that IF MSE is needed AFTER having LeForte surgeries, maybe the surgeries weren’t done to an optimal level...Seems as if you SHOULD be able to achieve more ideal skeletal positioning with SURGERY.
If one has to “step-back” and do MSE, maybe the surgery wasn’t as successful as it could’ve been.
You SHOULD be able to gain MORE with surgery, than MSE...it’s just that MSE is more conservative, and SURGERY should be reserved to accomplish what MSE can’t.
(But that’s just an opinion from a person without any personal experience in MSE or LeForte surgeries. So my logic COULD be wrong)

i think MSE is good for nasal widening. SARPE isn't really. I had an MMA but still symptomatic with osa and now i'm considering MARPE with MRE so this is very relevant for me
