Saint John the Beloved. "At the end of the 13th century, St. Gertrude, on the feast of St. John the Evangelist, had a vision in which she was allowed to rest her head near the wound in the Savior’s side. She heard the beating of the Divine Heart and asked John if, on the night of the Last Supper, he too had felt this beating heart, why then had he never spoken of the fact. John replied that this revelation had been reserved for subsequent ages when the world, having grown cold, would have need to rekindle its love."

When we read the "Gospel as revealed to me" written by Maria Valtorta, we learn to know the apostles in their daily life and it makes it easier to see which one can be our spiritual guide. I think it's more related to the feeling and mentality than the country
How interesting! My conversion story involved a brief, informal stint with New Age beliefs and even Hinduism during my search for the Truth at a time when I had long since become disillusioned with Catholicism. I have always approached Saint Ann as my spiritual grandmother. I love being her grandchild.
St Peter is my model apostle. He is the most misunderstood apostle owing to the denials he made. But does that mean he betrayed Jesus?
Come to think of it- Jesus made him the leader of the pack knowing his leadership quality. When Jesus was arrested, he followed the Lord wherever His captors took Him. And Peter was there, like a good soldier scheming what he could do under the circumstances.
A good soldier knows when to back out to fight another day. That's why the denials. When Jesus asked him three times "do you love me? " Peter repiled "Lord YOU KNOW how much I love you. " The Lord never questioned his reply and as if in confirmation, commanded Peter to "feed His flock"

I loved this video! I love the way the Holy Spirit inspires Alvaro to think about things I would never think of on my own and then he graciously shares these thoughts with us through his videos! Without any hesitation I claim St. John as my spiritual father! For two reasons. First because he stood at the foot of our Lord’s cross and second because he took Mary into his home( representing each of us! ❤)
John was my confirmation name…for John the Baptist and I think perhaps John the Apostle too.
Saint Jude is my special Apostle and also Saint James and John🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
St James. He established Christianity in Spain and my Spanish ancestors migrated to where I am now.
Any Christian country colonized by Spain has St James as its Apostle.

As an Italian I can tell you that each town has a patron saint and celebrates that feast day. We also celebrate the feast day of those we are named after.

It’s StJude for me , he was very helpful to me.
My confirmation saint is st Thomas the apostle, because I recognize in myself the need for proof for belief... I seek corroborating evidence and need to experience the unlikely coincidences that affirm what I understand a message or direction to be.
That's the apostle that resonates the most with me.

St Andrew! He came to Ukraine and predicted the city of Kyiv would be established...well more like the monastery that ended up being built there....and yes, the city was built, it was razzed down to the ground a couple times (mongols, huns, etc) the monastery was moved to Lviv for a while, and now again, razzed by the communists. Pray for us, St. Andrew!

When you asked the question about which apostle appeals to me I actually thought about Mary Magdalene, even though she isn’t considered an apostle . But she is a Doctor of the Church
Have you read anywhere in your readings on purgatory about Gregorian Masses? It’s piously believed that they release souls from purgatory.
Gregorian Masses are 30 consecutive masses said for one soul.

The priesthood is a sacred office that traces its origin back to the 12 Apostles who were the first bishops of the church. When a bishop ordains a priest, the authority to forgive sins, command bread and wine to be transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ, offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, administer the Last Rites and other sacraments is passed on to them from Jesus Himself. There is actually a paper trail in the Vatican vault of documents that literally identifies from which of the 12 apostles they have received that authority. It shows the lineage of the priesthood from Jesus, who is the high priest, the apostles who were the first bishops, and from then on. This is further proof that the Catholic Church is established by Jesus Himself. It's one of the reasons why lay people should not be acting like they are priests or doing what a priest should be doing. Each one has a role to play in the Mystical Body of Christ. There are two kinds of priesthood - one by vurtue of our baptism and the other by ordination. It is safe to say that only the one by ordination has a trace from the apostles

Is it alright to say St Jude Thaddeus, since my birthdate is Oct 28 which is St Jude feast day, the thing is, I don't do devotion to him like novenas, but only once in a while...

Thank you Alvaro for mentioning about our Lady of Velankanni. Thousands of pilgrims make pilgrimage including non Christians.
Also close to that place i recently heard about another historical church called Madrasi Madha. Madha means mother in the local language. The story goes likes this. When Dutch invaded the land in 16th century the catholics tried to secure a statue of our Lady in that church inside a wooden box that was brought in haste. But when they tried to fit the statue they realised the box was short and couldn't fit. They left everything and came back next day and saw the statue had miraculously fitted as Our Lady's head had tilted to fit . The statue looks the same with a tilted head till this day.
On St Thomas there is a church in little Mount which hosts the cave where St Thomas lived. It has its hand and fòotprints. Besides there is a spring of water from the rocks till this day. It also has an image of Our Lady and baby Jesus painted by St Luke and believed to be carried by St Thomas on his mission. So the devotion to Our Lady started from the times of apostles and this painting is a proof.

Yes! You create a very unique and special telationship with them when you consider them your spiritual father! You have another very special friend (father) in them!
But Jesus built ONE church, not 12.
