I'm amazed at how little public attention this mission has gotten over time. Three astronauts hanging off the Space Shuttle for hours literally trying to grab a satellite with their hands. Insanely cool, no?

I remember following this mission when it was happening. It was crazy seeing them literarily grab a satellite

STS 49 was an amazing mission and the only time three astronauts were in space on a spacewalk. INTELSAT 6 was placed in the wrong orbit and on the wrong rocket and got stranded where it was not suppose to be. Endeavour went on her maiden flight and her job was to repair INTELSAT and place it in the correct orbit. This mission was practice for Endeavour's next mission where she was tasked with repairing Hubble.
