  • A persistent high white blood cell count is termed leukocytosis. Leukocytosis can be a sign of leukemia, infection, medical illness, or other disease processes. Leukemia occurs due to the uncontrolled production of leukemic cells within the bone marrow or lymphatic system.
Leukemia is generally more common in children than adults. The treatment for leukocytosis depends on the underlying cause. To know more watch the discussion with Dr Abhay Bhave, Sr. Consultant - Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT).
