My chemistry teacher got on an FBI watchlist. He checked out one too many books on atomic bombs from the library for a research project, so they contacted him to ensure that he wouldn't actually make any. Edit: It was for a seminar he was giving about the Manhattan Project. The books were flagged (on a sus list), so when he checked out a lot, the FBI put him on some database somewhere.
The FBI doesn't have time to attack every person impersonating them, nor the jurisdiction to go after even 10% of them given how the majority aren't in the US.
I've actually been called directly by the FBI twice. Well, actually the first time they called my boss about one of our servers being breached and used to bounce an attack aimed at government servers. I found the breach and shut down the attack long before they called, and they told my boss that he better give me a raise. That one was about 15 year ago. The second time was about 3 years ago. They were calling me back to request more information about a matter that I had reported to police the day before. So YES, the FBI DOES call people, but definitely not to alert them of a pending arrest.
I once got an actual email from the 'FBI' claiming that someone was apparently caught in the airport trying to deliver '4 million USD' to me in bonds and that I had to 'call' them to 'claim' the money for an inheritance I didn't know that existed. OR of course, I'd get arrested.

Of course, I was a bit confused, as we have never owned an Apple "device." Also, my desktop computer was working just fine. How did these scam idiots function when we still had dial up? Finally, the idiot scammer switched to talking about my Microsoft device. I said, " Golly! Oh no! Good thing I have the Microsoft number memorized!" I rattled it off and he stuttered and tried to continue. (no one has ever accused that boy of being bright) Then I tried to sell him a (fictional) litter of cats. He cursed at me and hung up. Too bad. If he had only stayed on the line, he could have purchased the Golden Gate Bridge for the low low price of only 49.99 (for one hundred and ninety years, payable every Monday.) Of course he did not get the set of Ginzu steak knives. His loss.

The FBI has called me before. They are pretty normal and professional as expected and usually want to talk to you in person at their actual agency at some point. They don’t give you time to run away by warning you they want to arrest you tho lol or give you any links to go to over text
Can we all just appreciate the fact that thetekkketrealm videos are so addicting to watch
