The Night King - Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Piano Version)
Piano Version by Patrik Pietschmann
You wanted "The Night King" from "Game of Thrones: Season 8", now you get it. This track reminds me a lot of "Light of the Seven". Typical of the composer Ramin Djawadi is once again the use of very simple themes, coupled with slightly dissonant sounds. My arrangement is a bit simpler this time (except the end) because I think that virtuoso elements would not serve the character of this piece. I hope you enjoy it!
Any suggestions for future arrangements? Please leave them in the comments.

The music feels like something inevitable is coming.
Because Winter is Coming
Don't worry, it will be too dark to see what it is, and it will be over quickly.
It's like a countdown
Inevitable: regret of starting watching GoT at all, that comes after or during S8 finale
This is called grief, a bitter grief.... This what I feel, listening this
The only thing that made sense in Season 8 was Ramin Djawadi's music. Thanks for this lovely rendition.
Debasmita Biswas his music was very consistent and amazing!!
@@caseybailey2754 couldn't agree more...
Debasmita Biswas I love it how he always has the greater picture in his mind and while composing music never fails to take an opportunity to weave a certain motive into the music as the plot of the series dictates, for example whenever a Lannister-themed thing comes up in the show he always manages to intertwine a given motive with the Lannister motive
Or the white walkers theme
Or the night king theme etc
I especially love how Hear Me Roar (The classic Lanister Theme) weaves together with Light of the Seven in For Cersei
If this isn’t the truest statement ever...
Let's all agree that we can say what we will about Season 8 - but Ramin Djawadi's work is unmatched. Fantastic arrangement, Patrik.
Adam Grise everybody in that show did very well except Dumb&Dumber
@@Uqjsz Unmatched? I don't think so. Shore did a fantastic job on LotR. I still listen to the soundtracks for that regularly, as I do the GoT soundtracks. I saw Shore conduct the LotR Symphony. I'd pay to see Djawadi conduct and perform his work, as well.
Hans Zimmer? I can't decide between Djawadi or him

God, I already miss GoT so much
Me too. Pretty much from 5:28 till the end makes me feel the memories of watching seasons 1-7 for the first time. Especially the early seasons. AND feeling the events of the show. And this piece coming at the end of the series, gives me all kinds of nostalgia!
Yeah, a shame it all ended so badly.
They really had potential to give this show the ending it deserved. I personally think it should have ended with the final battle and scene using this song, with pretty much everyone dying heroically. That would have made the perfect ending!
@@codybell6882 The series was forged in war, it should end differently.
To bad the feeling is one of death and loss rather than closure.

In November I bought a piano...I have not played since I was 12 years-old (now I'm 35), and I started with this song because I love it! The first movements are not hard to play but I'm really shocked how my hands have lost the coordination through these years!!
Goodluck ! Love this song too !
Oh lol, same story, same age!!! Good luck 🍀
Same. I'm 35, bought my daughter, 12, a piano and she is self learning. I tried what I used to play.... Forget it! My hands forgot how to!
You spent more time not playing than playing. What did you expect?
Hey sir how did you know to coordinate your both hands would really appreciate to know how 🙂🙂
Rest in peace Night King you will never be forgotten.
@Dalim Mont The best villan in game of thrones lol
Nobody in the was a villian.
They were simply playing the Game of Thrones, where either you win or you die.
He died, therefore he lost the Game of Thrones along with many others.
@@sage4382 he didnt play the game, he never wanted the throne
The real villan in game of thrones. Episodio 8x03 shame of tv series history. Terrible writers, Dumb & Dumber eternal shame
@@bhavrajthind8396 he wanted to rule over everyone in Westeros or even the whole world. Sure he never wanted specifically the iron throne, but he wanted that "place of power" which by sense, means the throne. Not the chair, but the power. So yeah. He also played the game.
What I loved about this piece is that I don't think it was meant to emphasize the dread associated with the Night King. Rather, I think the piece illustrates the sense of clarity that some apparently find when encountering death. It was really in line with what most of the characters were experiencing in the Battle of Winterfell, most were cornered, with no choice but to fight. Hope may have been lost, but they just couldn't afford to be scared. And this is why we love Ramin Djawadi.
After 3 years ,i still have a goosebumps... This music will never bè old. Thanks you Ramin Djawadi for your work and you Patrick:)
I understand this song makes me want to forgot the show and rewatch it
@@guillaumealexandresimeon9874 And forgot what happened After Night King death.....
Me at the beginning of the video: This doesn’t look too hard.
Me towards the end: Holy S#*t!
The hardest part to arrange I'd say is between 4:58 to 5:13. The piece itself isn't actually that hard to play, it looks flashy with the VFX though XD
It isn’t that hard. Light of the seven is harder
I’ve come to the conclusion that this is technically difficult or flashy to play. But musically, it’s pretty hard. Personally, playing soft and making sound good, is a challenge in itself.

If youve got access to a piano its always worth the shot to even try learning one song. Its not terribly difficult and if u get what happened to me, it wont just be that first song but years more of learning because of how much that first song impacted you to learn. its worth it (especially during quarantine-no better time in the history of the world)

Even if the whole song is a masterpiece, this is my favorite part 6:15 SUCH EPIC CHORDS
You seem to master the emotion of everything you play. A cover of the oblivion soundtrack by M83 would be beautiful from you.
omg that song is excellent!
I would also be very interested to hear how a Fearful Odds cover would sound like :)
The best piano version of The Night King I've watched!!
Something about this music. It feels like the end of an age. It fit the mood of the scene so perfectly. Like you could feel the coming of an end of a time, an inevitability of what was happening. One of my favourite pieces of all time.
Agree man. Even with all of GoT's heroes fighting, it really felt like the Night's King was going to win. Theon and the Ironborn falling after exhaustion, Jon giving up, Jorah fighting till the last breath... the music matches perfectly.
This matchs perfectly my feelings for the ending of GOT. After all that suffering, after all those sacrifices, at the end of the cruelest trip... Nothing. Just cold and underserved sadness. Amazing music.
i was hoping you would cover this! - id love to see you cover the "last of the starks" theme as well

VekASh S Lmaoo you stupid 😂
to be fair... I think one of the things with the night king was that he was sort of supposed to largely be an unknown. They couldn't exactly show him all that much.
Im 38 now. Is there still time for me to learn this having never touched a piano before?....
Hello Luke,of cource there is time for you to learn this masterpiece, but first you should start with sth easier and then eventually you will reach the lvl it requires for you to play this.If you are considering starting playing piano i highly recommend it to you
It is NEVER too late my friend! Life is about exploring and finding yourself over and over during the proces 😀.. and the feeling while playing an instrument; is a great way to do so on a playful and very passionate way.. it is a language that words cannot tell... but the ❤ will understand
What, are you planning on dying tomorrow?
As others stated yes you can learn this. It's challenging but doesn't take anything that perseverance can't overcome. Most likely it would take about 5-8 years of consistent practice of learning the piano.
That is one sophisticated song. The simple start sets a perfect pace it keeps coming back to no matter how complicated it got. Blown away.
An absolutely incredible piece of music, which highlights why GoT is still one of my favorite shows of all time. So many people poured themselves into that project. From the sound design, to the vfx, to the score, to the casting, to the directing, to the choreography... so much amazing work done by people that cared SO much about doing good work.
Regardless of season 8's problems, I will always look at GoT as lightning in a bottle.
I totally agree with you thats why it hurts so much more every aspect of the show was amazing in the last season except for the writing. It had so much potential but writing is sadly to important.
Nice to see some GOT positivity! Yeah, the last season wasn't great, but it's still a great show overall.
Yeah despite whatever season 8 problems, the show is a masterpiece! And the dragons they hired were also great!
We bend our knees Lord Patrick Pietschmann, Lord of the keys!
The fact that I was in a road accident because of which I was on a life support one day after this was uploaded and I listened to it makes this 100 times more haunting for me. Lands me in the ICU mentally every time.
You look out a glass pane as the sky slowly darkens. You see a figure walking slowly oh so slowly and you notice that a light flurry of snow followed him. It's a slow cold dread, what you feel as you watch on. Your looking at it through glass, if you reach out you can almost touch the flurry of white soft snow. You see more figures as the snow grows thicker and the sky darker. It's all blue and white, the world outside the glass. Its hauntingly beautiful, the still quiet, but something in the air makes the hair on the back of your neck stand. You see a reflection in the glass, you turn to see him, the first figure. He just stares at you unmoving as you shiver suddenly cold. He unsheath's a sword made of ice looking you down and moves so swiftly you cant react and the world turns black as the night that had fallen.
Who disliked this? This is the best cover by far.

What an intriguing title for a piano version! The Night King theme from Game of Thrones has such a haunting and memorable melody. It's amazing to think about how music can capture the essence of a character or a scene so powerfully.
