I like fusion 360 but the criticism has been that it is cloud based. Potential customers would fear that someone would hack the servers. It comes down to Industrial Espionage.
I totally agree and you need to also think of the government being involved in going through all of your files and taking the ones they want. I just wish they would mix fusion and inventor and dominate the market.
I have use both as a machinist , both of them have pros and cons ,but for cam programming fusion is a better and easy to use, where solidworks takes a few extra steps to machines simple features unless you purchase profesional or cam works but it costs more
SolidWorks CAM is absolutely terrible, I spew profanity every time I have to touch it. AutoDesk used to have a free HSM Works plugin that was way better, but then they discontinued it. I'm assuming the Fusion CAM is similar to HSM Works since both came from the same company. Anything is better than SolidWorks CAM though. Sometimes I just manually code G-code to avoid using that damn thing.
There's absolutely no compare to those two softwares. Anybody who ever worked on Solidworks knows why its worth 20 times the price of fusion. Fusion is cool if you want to get in touch with 3D modeling. But with a bit of a perfectionism, one will very quickly get annoyed by the limits of the program.
@@afankhan7732 Honestly, I can't get how ppl can prefer Fusion, apart from the price, wich is obviously an enormous argument at this stage. To me, if you master solidworks, working with fusion will take you minor practice time and you can even work witn both. But from a technical point of view, Fusion is litteraly nothing next to Solidworks. The program is just a mastodon, it's level of performance and the deepness of the architecture is just mind blowing compared to any CAD programs I worked with. Fusion is not even doing well with the possibilities it gives. To me it's not finished yet, it feels like a quite early beta version of a program. To add something, what is shown on Fusion 360 on videos they make to advertise, like engines or stuff, no way. Litteraly not any fucking way you will make it with this program. Not that it is technically impossible - one can modelise an engine on sketchup - but there's just no way that this is gonna work, be editable afterwards or usable for any kind of use. The software just becomes totally impossible to use in a proper way faaar earlier than this with much less complex parts.
Everyone keeps bashing Fusion 360, but in my opinion it is better than Solidworks. It is way more flexible and up to date with modern world. It has modules that you can buy additionally, which makes the cost very low and you won't have to buy something you don't need. Fusion 360 is more stable and hard crashes are very rare. It has powerful quick search function and very straightforward hotkeys. I find that I get better performance as well. It also has tools for modelling organic shapes very easily. Overall I would say it is 8 out of 10 and is defiantly worth the effort.
Seeing how Fusion is a dumbed-down version of inventor , inventor his way better than both SolidWorks is nothing but a headache it's like driving a car but somebody else has controls of the brakes

I took a technical course in mechanic technology and it had a modeling component, which I fell in love with and now want to pursuit a career in that area. The software I used in school was Solidedge. What's the best option inside Solidworks for someone who wants to practice at home and improve modelling skills? A student licence would be the cheapest?
