I knew I was different almost from the moment I started kindergarten. School counselors all insisted I was normal. Never mind that I was taking remedial math one year and was in a special class for generally brilliant kids the next. Never mind that I was the *only one in my class* who had to see a counselor every week.
My parents knew I was different, but figured it was within human standard deviation. After all, I was just like my dad and he managed to (barely) function as an adult. Mom said I marched to be beat of a different drum. Dad said there's nothing wrong and complained about how the field of psychology had spent so much of the 20th century seemingly trying to diagnose creativity as a mental illness.
An uncle once commented that I might have ADHD, but Mom dismissed the idea almost immediately because I didn't act like I was on a permanent sugar high and "one of his sons was just diagnosed, so he sees it everywhere."
Over a decade later, I was diagnosed with ADHD. Soon after came a tentative diagnosis of Asperger's. Only tentative because the clinic I went to didn't have the facilities to make that diagnosis official and I probably would have had to go a couple counties over to find a place that *did.* It's still in my medical records, though.
I really am just like my dad. He was diagnosed with ADD-inattentive and everyone pretty much assumes he's also an Aspie.

    • @Stapleyoursack
      @Stapleyoursack 4 місяці тому +2

@@brigidtheirishthey’ve long since removed Asperger’s Syndrome as a diagnosis. It’s all just ASD with levels based on need and severity. I’m guessing from your comment you’d be sitting at level one now, whereas as a child you were level 2 most likely. Fun fact, most people with autism (60%?) have adhd whereas only thirty percent of adhd people are later diagnosed with autism. Your father and his parents probably beat a lot of the traits out of him and he’s developed his own aba style coping skills as a result of it. This generally mirrors abuse or rather PTSD/CPTSD

The guard at my school confiscated my skateboard because I tripped and told me that I could get it back after class. So I went and talk to him after class and he told me "I thought you already took it because it's missing."
Is he the one responsible for my skateboard to be missing because he took it in the first place? Can I sue him?
Edit: I live in the Philippines, it's okay to bring the skateboard to school. The guard also told me that I could use the skateboard as long as I don't damage anything from the school premises. My board cost 1k php something. He said he would contact me if he finds it, it's been a month. And yes, I didn't damage anything or hurt anyone while skateboarding. Tripping is normal because you cannot reach the top if you haven't started from the bottom.

My father has never mentioned feeding and clothing. He has, however, placed emphasis on character and philosophy first, then life path and studies. He always makes it clear what the consequences are in life of making mistakes. He has scolded me, never out of ego but because he genuinely cares for my betterment.
You will make mistakes. There are natural consequences to mistakes. I will never stop those consequences from happening., you must face them. I will help you realise why they happen and how you can learn from it.
Asian family, quite traditional and religious. This is only my experience, however, and what I have seen families of similar background.
A parent should have no ego, but also they should not be a friend to the child. My father is never my friend, he is a father, he has duty (religious, spiritual, physical, emotional, etc,) and will do them selflessly. However, sometimes that means admonishing me for my own good.
Whilst there is an extreme of some parents being abusive or egotistical, there is certainly a large and possibly equal portion of parents being lazy, overly attached and not truly loving of their children enough to establish discipline where it matters.
Do not throw your child from the home. Do your duty, and discipline the child with neither ego nor rage.

However, God is always peering down at you, defending you with apodictic protection as you never deserved to suffer in such a way. Even through demoralizing hardships, never give up. Continue pursuing your ambitious, and eventually, you will be free from the torture of your childhood.😌😌😌🙏🙏🙏🫡🫡🫡

I remeber one incident when I was in 11th grade, so there was a neighbour kid,he was nice and friendly we usually play at the weekends,so one day what happend is he got bad grades and his father scolded him and he got upset went to his room and slept and the next day he was going to school(he goes to school on his own using a bicycle). It's been 5 p.m and he still haven't returned yet and their parents were scared and nervous. Then they complained in the nearby police station and even put on a WhatsApp status stating that their child was missing. In the next day they found him 300km away from his home💀💀💀💀.He drove his bicycle 300km to to a location only using the signboards in the road . Eventually he got very tired and he reached to a nearby shop drank some juice and he went to a hotel and ate food and he didn't have enough money to cover the bills and he told the shop ownner his story and the shop owner didn't charge the kid money and instead the shop owner gave some money to him.Aterwards he made a phone call to his relatives and told them about the situation and the relatives rushed to rescue him and he finally reunited with his family. This was a crazy story to hear.

My son (15) wants to get a job and support himself. His dad is in rehab, and I've got five other kids and no income. He's not brought it up, but I've considered talking to him about emanation so he can get his drivers license and get a job legally. His dad would be so hateful if it happened, but a family friend is already teaching my son to drive and is helping him learn tools so he'll have tradeskills without his dad knowing.

The undiagnosed adhd thing is real- I actually studied because I saw a lot of signs and these people are going off the most common symptoms in honestly anyone- like stimming! Everyone stims!

Omg yeah it's honestly awful and I wish they would get warned/shutdown for unlicensed medical advice. Some of the things they lost are just symptoms of .... Being alive.
"You ever miss an appointment or lose track of time?" "Chew on your fingernails or stim" "get distracted" "get stressed" .... Everybody I repeat EVERYBODY has done that.

No but seriously, it's not just those symptoms, it's those symptoms and issues repeating over and over, all day, to the point it affects the person's life, for example,a ton of students can easily do a English homework but someone with adhd can sometimes struggle so much then other kids befouse of low motivation and constantly getting distracted or getting overwhelmed, people realized this so they called it adhd, and gave medication to help with them so they can finally be like other kids and not need to get overwhelmed so fast

No… not everyone stims. While there are multiple reasons someone could stim and there’s things people could call stimming… that doesn’t mean everyone stims.

@@pinkybro5671these people don't realize in some areas regardless sof how much it affects you it can b MUCH MUCH WORSE to get a diagnosis. Like you'll get treated COMPLETELY different before and after diagnosis. Shit in some places you'll just get left out of everything and forgotten. There are so many difficult steps to diagnosis and so much stigma that being mentally unwell and undiagnosed is better then even more mentally unwell and diagnosed. Like one of my friends parents when from parents from heaven to calling him a burden and stupid for not understanding every social cue and "becoming" autistic. Idk what happened to him sadly but that shits common. To think it's as simple as jsut get diagnosed pissed me off you can tell people had an easy time with it when they think it's either get diagnosed or stfu about it.
