  • My second Dark Shadows video featuring images of the loves of Barnabas Collins' life that caused him grief. Many thanks to Tony Hamera of the group "The Blueflowers" for permission to use his original music as a background, and to the members here who allowed me to use their screen shots. The Blueflowers video can be seen at: • The Blueflowers - I Wa...

The emotions that these images convey is extraordinary. I love how you have softened--"antiqued"--the settings and the facial features of each character. It presents them in a more romantic glow, especially Barnabas at 3:03, who never looked more handsome nor more tragic. An excellent compilation of clips with a beautiful sound.

Man..I love your images they are so crisp..clear..beautiful. Lovely video yesnik. I somehow missed it. Love that image of BC at 3:06 ..its when he and Josette were speaking in the cemetary while she was putting flowers on Jeremiah's grave. The characters were both so sad and lost. You have done marvelous work here. Thanks for posting.

I keep coming back to this. Barnabas, at 1:32--.iconic, poetical--the ultimate, tragic Byronic hero. A beautifully haunting portrait of a man for whom fate has been most cruel.

Hello, thanks for the link this one of yours it is so great, personally I loved the 1795 era the best for Barnabas, I wished the evil Trask and Lt Forbes hadn't betrayed Barnabas and Josette so much, not to mention Angelique!!! at least he had Ben his friend/servant who was true, plus his dear mum and Vicky, and little Daniel too. ;)

The make up on Barnabas once he became a vampire was perfect. Very frightening.

RIP, Jonathan Frid ~ if you can, that is. :)

Well... I never thought much of Frid as an actor. He seemed to be muffing lines all the time on th show. In the movie he was much more persuasive - but that's probably because he got the time to memorize his lines! However, I will give him one thing: the pre-vampire bite 1795 Barnabas is open, kind, generous and an overall laudable character. After he becomes a vampire his character completely changes. Good work, there.

+Wes Clark - Jonathan Frid had been almost exclusively a stage/theater actor before Dark Shadows, which was also his first major role in a tv show. Having admitted to being a "slow study" and with new scripts every weekday, it was difficult for Frid to memorize his lines, especially in the beginning. But his presence, voice, expressions, reactions, and looks also contributed to his believability as Barnabas. IOW, he was a very fine actor - at least in my not-so-humble opinion. ;-)

Could you list all of the love interests of Barnabas I am just so curious how many women love him or he loved? thanks

    • @lindalcoomes

All of them rejected him except Julia and of course Angelique who tortured him.

Julia was a fool for him, even after he brutally murdered women like the girl he met in the Blue Whale and her body was on the floor in the old house, Julia was thinking where to bury it, you may love a man buy no guy is worth that. The girl was going to join the Laviathans but it was still murder and he had murdered many others. @@lindalcoomes

Every woman in in this vid was "kind of" involved with Barnabas......except for Carolyn. I don't know why she was included in this vid, since she was Barnabas' distant cousin and under his control after he bit her in order to save his own life after Julia's treatments caused him to age rapidly. Maggie was held by Barnabas against her will, but her doppleganger, Josette, was Barnabas' first love.

@Sue Taft He only married Angelique, who later used witchcraft to turn him into a vampire. He kidnapped Maggie Evans, although I don't remember if he bit her. He did bite Carolyn Stoddard and Victoria Winters.

@Sue Taft Yes, I know all that. I did watch the show. lol It's a great storyline. Originally Josette resembled Victoria Winters as well.

Why is there no image of the DS "parallel time character Roxanne Drew (played by Donna Wandrey)? She, among all of the "Barnanbas Babes" thrice suffered the most tragic of fates, besides losing Barney twice. If you can re-edit the video, she should be included. She may have had the singular distinction of being the first female (most certainly on a soap opera, and daytime to boot) to appear on TV to go bra-less under her outer garment. Huba-huba!!!

  • @mabel8179
    @mabel8179 8 років тому +1

I agree with Atoman- Roxanne was just as tragic as Josette.

Sorry, my true love was Willie. I am old enough to have watched the original and Barnabas was just way too much of a psycho DICK in the beginning. Willie was the REAL hero (and didn't muff his lines). Having said that, NO ONE could have played Barnabas better than Jonathon Frid! RIP both John Karlen and Jonathon Frid.
