My grandma was diagnosed with leukemia at age 40 & lived 60 years longer & when people asked how she lived with cancer of the blood 60 years she said: she avoided hospitals & gave her body to the one she serves 🙌🏻 My grandma never watched tv unless to hear & see a sermon. I'll have to disagree with you on that. The banjo is just as, if not more popular than it was in the old days. There are countless bluegrass, old time, and newgrass bands that all have the banjo.
Thanks for your channel and playing all the tunes in G chord. This has helped me get back to the banjo where I left off several years ago. God put it on my heart to pick back up the banjo, I felt this time I will learn the rolls that I struggled with few years ago. I’m learning the neck by watching your videos. It’s easy to forget after a few years. I play guitar and bass but now need some banjo mixed in. I pastor a Church and love southern mixed bluegrass gospel music. I call the old stuff and sticking with the old stuff the gospel. God bless you Sir…..I subbed you on 2 channels….I just bought a Gold Tone BG 150F and it’s awesome sound makes me want to play this time around….
just got my first banjo today, and decided to look for some gospel banjo songs, this is truly inspiring! My favorite gospel song done so excellent on banjo, bless you brother!
Made this southern belle teary eyed while reminiscing about her childhood 😢. Beautiful version of one of my favorite hymns, thank you so much for posting!.
Beautiful piece. Trying to decide what hymn or combination of several to play at church. It will take me a while to figure it all out. Thank you 7-14-24
Hello Mr. Miles, I am a beginner banjoist and would really like to learn that pickup that you used in the beginning of the song. If you might be open to a short video about the pickup I would be very grateful :).
I really love this version of this classic tune. I haven’t heard a version of this song that sounded this up beat and happy! Do you know where I could find tabs for this?
@@georgemiles7697the up the neck section was really great! I’ve never heard anyone do that. Might I ask if there was a version that you got inspiration from or is it original?
@@tylernakasone1385 It is original to my knowledge - wanted to stay true to the melody of the song while still having a little fun with it too. :). I like to incorporate an up the neck break into most of the songs I play. Thx.
@@georgemiles7697 Random question. What Gibson do you use? I don’t know much about them because I wasn’t playing when they were in production. I was wondering if you knew which ones would have that strong Gibson punch. I currently play a gold tone ob 250 but the sound is not as punchy and clear. Even some other brands that you think have a similar sound would be much appreciated!
@@tylernakasone1385 Hi Tyler. I have a 2001 Granada. Before that I had a Gibson RB3. It took a lot of work with it to get just the sound I was looking for but finally have it. :). Many Gibsons are very expensive now due to not being produced anymore, but there are some reasonable ones still out there. A fun website to look at is banjowarehouse.com. Not cheap, but fun :)

My grandmother’s funeral was yesterday. She requested this song be played with the banjo. She was a sweet lady and will be missed❤
So sorry for your loss. Grandmothers are certainly precious.
God bless

Thank you Jamie. Not yet. Covid shut down my private lessons. Working on switching over to virtual. Just not there yet.

hooie!
Which lick did you use to finish the high solo ?
Do you mean at the very end of the high solo as it is going back to the lower part?
@georgemiles7697 yes the one that starts with the fast double on 17th fret
nice but what's up with your bridge?
:) That one is just heavily compensated. I change them up from time to time just to play with tone differences.
can you give us a tutorial on how to play this song!
