Here you learn, that it’s not only the art of boat building but also the art of story telling. Can’t wait to see her growing up and finally sailing in to the world.
Ok,,,,,,,,,,, EP 3. I’m sucked in, I’m hooked, I’m following the story, I’m building the boat with you both. Where’s EP 4, Don’t you go with out me don’t leave me behind. Great stuff guys 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Okay I forgive you the use of another helping of epoxy. I understand the frustrations of building it up, and just when it starts looking like boat you have to take it down again. Two steps foreward and one step back is still progres. Wonderful atmosphere in you videos. Thank you for making them. Lookin forward to the next . Cheers Martin
I’ve always believed that boats come alive while being built, not after they launch. My guess is there’ll be many more night visits before she’s finished. I get the feeling that the GoPro has a mind of its own too! Take care and until next instalment happy building from the happy Aussie.
I watched your first 2 episodes, and I’m hooked. Enjoy everything about your channel, the story telling, the fact that I get so tickled watching y’all two went on about the GoPro turning on and off 😂 But also the boat building, you guys work fast. However I’m upset that I’m so far behind. Anyway, you have another sub. Thank you for sharing. Center Texas
We're enjoying watching your boat-building project. Yes, they do start having a spirit and developing a character soon into the project. Keep up the good work! By the way, there's a setting on your GoPro that you can change so your screen on the back doesn't go black if you don't want it to, but that uses up more power to have the screen on all the time.
Myself and friend Steve are building a 18’ clinker motor launch, larch on oak. In my Exmouth workshop and construction is in a friend garden. It’s the upside down method and not too long before we turn the boat over. Good luck with yours it’s a lot of head scratching
When I build something, big or small, there are times when I feel the need to merely stop and “contemplate wood”…..it has a cathartic effect. I understand the night visits
Great subject and great cinematography. And if you ask me, I am done with GoPro, I use DJI Pocket 2 for my films about old log cabin renovations now and there is no coming back.
your videos are just a real pleasure to watch. I say that as someone who has built a couple of boats (stitch and glue) and works in television. There is some really nice storytelling here. Do you have a television background?
I'm going to get rid of my old pegboard that's been annoying me for ages and replace it with your 'kick the old wedge into the leg vice'-method. I can't understand why I never thougt of doing that, considering how I kick things around my workshop pretty much constantly. 😊
New subscriber from Australia, Victoria, Melbourne. Watched your first 2 videos and enjoyed it, so subscribe I did. Thanks and all the best for Christmas and the new year.
If you look out across the water one day and see a boat that is upside down, how do you tell if it is a normal boat that has capsized, or if it is one of those boats that was built upside down?
I am pretty sure the table top is Aformosa. It is used for science lab bench tops. I used some for a bathroom sink surround. It is very rot resistant. Also good for guitar necks and bodies of electrics.
THanks for your comment. Yes we do and we have built a wooden boat and restored another before. My first boat was a coracle which is really easy to make and very traditional www.coraclesociety.org.uk/ If you want to learn how to build boats, this place is fantastic boatbuildingacademy.com/?gclid=CjwKCAiAkp6tBhB5EiwANTCx1H-Scs2AK4ADvYy4tSNAw_mfVQqEvJPugKUqKDseMzj7lgJVqW7b0xoCpIgQAvD_BwE They run short courses of one week and they also offer scholarships. Nothing like getting the Stem, Keel and Transom on the strong back. Great job. She's gunna be a beaut...
THanks for your encouragement.
So. You’re making two masterpieces. A boat, and a story.
Thanks

Thanks - well at least into the Exe!!
I like this show, it makes me smile. Thanks for that.
That's such a great thing to say, thanks!
I love your introspection and the GoPro in the forest bit gave me a full belly laugh. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Wow look forward to meeting somewhere around Bull Hill at high tide one day!

It's wonderful, isn't it!
A bit of Go-provian philosophy 😂 Enjoying the build!
Haha Conor's begun to think about GoPros and butterfly wings.
Wonderful!
Many thanks!
Buy some bolt croppers before you go nuts hacksawing rivets! Another great video.
Will do!
You guys are building a right proper boat you are. I haven't even started mine, I best stop watching youtube and get to the shop!
Yeah - in some ways you can think about it too much.
Great subject and great cinematography.
And if you ask me, I am done with GoPro, I use DJI Pocket 2 for my films about old log cabin renovations now and there is no coming back.
Thanks for the tips!
Great update.
Have a good weekend guys..🙂
Cheers Richard - you too.
Absolutely fantastic!
Many thanks!
Nothing like ,ining up the battons! I have built mine upside down and ability to stand on your head is useful!!
Unless you're building in Australia I guess!
So true!
Bildung a boat and filming at the same time is not easy 😂. I know exactly what You’re talking about 😅! Good luck 😉
So true!

Love it!
Thanks!!

Science lab work benches! My SCAMP has rudder, tiller and various cleaty bits made out of same.

Hope you enjoyed it!
@@jonsealwoodturning4673 I sure did ! 😀

Yeah i think I got that off youtube and it really works
This is becoming addictive! When are you going to move a bed in there, just to make sure..............?😳
😀
Awesome channel mate! Where are you filming? Is that estuary the Exe perchance?
Yep the Exe is home although the Morgan Giles boatyard was on the Teign

Thanks and all the best for Christmas and the new year.
Great to see another Aussie following. Love the casual approach to the build.
Amazing to think it's being watched so far away. Thanks.
Nice work bench
If you are looking to make a nice bench, or just have a geeky interest, check out Moravian work benches - they are very cool.
I have the plans already…..lol
If you look out across the water one day and see a boat that is upside down, how do you tell if it is a normal boat that has capsized, or if it is one of those boats that was built upside down?
Tricky question!!
Is your ball pein hammer smooth?
Yeah it's old and much loved but Conor goes crazy and buys us a new one for episode 4!
Being from antopides don’t recognise table wood? You have nice chisels and sharp to!
I am pretty sure the table top is Aformosa. It is used for science lab bench tops. I used some for a bathroom sink surround. It is very rot resistant. Also good for guitar necks and bodies of electrics.
I wondered if the table was Iroko - I had a few lab bench tops and that was what we though they were.
I think it might well be Aformosa.
i am guessing you blokes have a degree of wood working experence ? i would like to build a boat but i lack the skill , and the tools.....and a shed.

it's a tiny bit far to travle from australia . loving the series . keep up the good work
Brilliant. You and Leo at @SampsonBoatCo need to hook up, all crafted from the same template!
Thanks - but I think he's premier league and we're more of a pub team!
