I was there that night in the cab stand of the Executive house on Wacker around the corner. I could not see the wreck but I heard it. For a moment I thought I was back in Vietnam and under attack. The chaos was unreal. No one knew what happened. People had an automatic urge to go help and some of us tried but Police were there in seconds. When I rounded the corner and looked south on Wabash, I cannot explain what I felt. You try to take in the entire scene but it makes no sense. This doesn't happen, but you are looking at it. Because of the slow speed of the train and short drop to the street, we thought that there was not many injuries. We had no idea 11 were dead. RIP to them.
U too especially as very high over expressway for an elevator structure then normal I be glad once we cross that expressway I take that train home sometimes I live in englewood
As a Junior High student, I remember being fixated on the reports all over television that night. Just dreadful. At the time, at least is showed that Mayor Michael Bilandic actually possessed a pulse, whereas many doubted that at the time.
I wish you would produce some more episodes of this great series.

I worry about that green line over the Dan Ryan every time I see it. Rounding that corner over the e-way makes me cringe!

If the green line fell from the the tracks above the expressway that would be horrible and you can presume everyone on the train is dead.
OMG, yes ! Also, around that entire "inner square" in the Loop, where the trains travel around LaSalle and Van Buren, around to Lake and Wabash, etc.
It does so extremely fast

Maury before his talk show
And Pat O’Brien before everything else!
Was this re-created on Pixar's "The Incredibles"?
I remember Maury from Philly.
