Love the hunting content! Three sisters stew looked great! Hunt camp is so special. Good friends, good food and stories around the fire! Thank you for bringing us along this year.
Enjoyed the video.Nice deer stand with umbrella. Cool. The owl hooting at night was great. Sounded like a barred owl. My favorite thing to hear at night when camping. Hope you get a deer!
Love some deer canp videos, just got done with my northern michigan deer camp with 6 guys. Special time of year. Looking forward to the next episode to see what happens for you guys!
Maybe it's due to my serious health issues but I view you guys as super human for being able to carry those canoes over your head on un even terrain up hills and stuff. The only canoes I've used have been at state parks and you just have to drag them 10 feet or so get in and paddle off and those canoes are like lead weights. I think you canoe trippers have different genes. Thanks for the upload.
I think you had a great spot. The relentless rain most likely kept the deer bed down or close to bedding area. When the rain broke, the bucks will be checking that scrape first thing. Great video.
I like the fact that you added in some creature comfort by way of the rug inside the hot tent. If I wasn't sick with the flu, I'd be pitching my own tent today. Supposed to have our 1st snow of the season this weekend. Happy Hunting!
Hunt camp looks fun! I’m watching you sitting in the rain waiting for your prey, and then I go outside and a herd of deer is in my yard, as usual. Two of the older bucks won’t let me get in my car.
Blessed Happy Thanksgiving to You Jimbo !!! Don't get a cold from that rain there !!! Better weather is what we are all hoping for Bitter cold is coming now !!! So stay warm & Dry for yourselves there !!!
Not many know how tough the first 2 days of the 2024 open season were. As you said at least it wasn’t cold but man those first 2 days were a grind. Camp looked great and there’s nothing like eating game at deer camp, those deer steaks looked amazing!!
You look like All Terrain Mary Poppins in that chair and mini umbrella. So cool, i want one just to chill in a tree. I have seen many successful hunts from those chairs.
Hey man, I have the same 13'6" inflatable and I recommend going for a 25 hp. I ran a 15hp all summer with it and I could get on plane alone but not a chance with anyone else in the boat or any gear. Great video cheers
Have a 2.5 suzuki for my clipper square stern. Also have a 15 suzuki. I am a team blue Yami guy but the batteryless fuel injection is fantastic. We are on year 5 I think and still 1st pull in spring and she runs. The fuel system stays pressurized and because there is no carb bowl nothing gets gummed up or needs to be drained Hint: You can buy the 9.9 and remove any air restrictions you might find in the air intake system to get say 18hp. :)
Hi Jim. You know, a chainsaw is actually an attractant for deer, more so in the fall and winter. When they hear a chainsaw, they know food is becoming accessible. I used to piece cut for a logger and I'd be cutting on one end of a tree, and three deer would be eating on the other end; of course, this was in February.
Wow, great vlog. I do a canoe deer hunt myself but treat it like any other canoe trip, just add warmer clothes, sleeping bag and bang stick. No tree stand, just a fire under a tarp at night. Debone the deer and pack out in game bags with a frame pack. Minimal stuff.
I was using large game bags I had from moose huntin that would fit a whole deer in each. I learned I need some small game bags to hold each quarter separately to cool/hang the deer pieces better. Gonna order some from Bass Pro this year.
In all the years I've hunted between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm I've always gotten a deer. This was in the state of Vermont USA. . Not anymore knees are bad.
What wall tent is that? Looks super awesome for this exactly kind of adventure and a little heavier than those ultralight backpacking teepees. Id love to know and look into this exact tent. Looks like I’d use the crap out of it
Hunting in the rain is no fun. No deer for me this season in Wisconsin, saw a lot of Doe though. Reflective tacs that don't reflect, that's a bummer! I hope you connect with a deer before the season is done!
Hunted with a 20’ freighter canoe. We’d take the middle gunnel out and roll the moose in. 4hp. Motor. That boat carried many moose out of the northwestern Ontario wilderness.
Hunting in the rain kinda sucks but it still beats going to work...up here in PNW it's a reality. Approaching 66 yrs old and I'm still packing deer out of the backcountry, packed out 4 bucks in last 4 years, someday I'll be too old for it but not yet
I k is a guy who’s 83 who still does that. He drinks pretty heavy too but he just keeps strong. Runs a bear hogging outfit and hauls bait around all the time. Man can the west coast ever get rainy, in Northern BC through into SE Alaska last September me and the fam got hammered with 8 straight days of hard rain while paddling the Stikine River.
It's tough to hunt new land. In the southern states most hunters plant food plots and the build blinds that stay in place all year. In Michigan we used to be able to put out apples, corn, or beets. But the danger of wasting disease has led the DNR to prohibit baiting. It makes the hunt a lot tougher. Maybe that's one of the reasons Michigan is losing so many hunters. Most of those who still hunt, scout their territory with game cameras and have some idea of what's consistently in the area. Cold turkey, looking for scrapes, sign, and habitat, makes it tough to sit and have confidence you are in the right place. Looking forward to the rest of this video. I'm guessing you were successful judging by one of the comments below. Except for camp, whitetail hunting is still a lonely sport, but a great time to sort things out and forget the world's problems. Know for sure, that you are blessed, being out there and sharing it with many who are vicariously hunting through you.
I think you’re aloud to bait before the season open but not during it. You have to heave bait pot for along time to get them coming to it. So, you won’t get any results if you dump bait on day 1 of the season and sit on it. Baiting isn’t hunting in the same kind of way though.
lol, a little overkill for this mission admittedly. However for bucking up logs to split for firewood at home it’s a dream. I can blast through four at once.
Long story but essentially it was supposed to go before this one. I had a new editor working on it who did a terrible job and it only got finished last min so I set it to go live as I dint realize how bad it was. As I was watching, a ways into the video it was terrible so I just deleted it.
I was wondering the same thing. I had saved that video to watch and then when this one came out I looked everywhere to watch that one first and could not find it.
Brother, good video, but please wear a full body harness when using a tree stand. Tree stand falls are by far the most dangerous part of hunting. You owe it to your family to make it back safe.
Hi Jim, I can't believe how hard stalking deer is in Canada, here in Blighty we have got so many deer I could kill four or five deer on a 8 minute journey too work. Ps wood heats you twice.👍🇨🇦❤️🇬🇧
Well, we all know deer totally know when hunting season starts, they are more careful then, even in the rut. If you pitch your camp anywhere near where you hunt you're just moving those deer further away. They eat and move around all night so they hear all the noise from your camp. Chances of them being close by morning is greatly reduced. Here in the Pacific Northwest it's filled with steep ravines, canyons and places the big bucks like to travel through. We camp many miles away from where we hunt. We're up at 4, slam coffee and drive the miles to the area we know they are in. Park and walk way up and Get on a cliff perch above ravine or canyon with great view. Now that I'm extremely old I road hut up into the mountain 80 or 100 miles each day of driving FSRs crazy how successful....no brag but never skunked...not one year. But the guys at work who camp in their hunting ground slaming down booze and laughing all evening....ZERO Don't I sound arrogant, but it's just how it is.....elk, muley deer, a few black tails, moose, bears, turkeys, pheasants, grouse, salmon, crab pots, shrimp pots, sea run cut throat, speckled, and rainbows, etc...... it's been a great life. I'm so old now I fell down out here in the Arizona desert just walking on the flat ground. Morale of this story is never quit the outdoor adventures.......you'll meet God there.
There is a giant muley buck on my game cam the other day, hanging out by my stand! Unfortunately, my season ended at the end of September. Good luck Jim!
Hey, thanks for asking, the answer is, not really. But here’s the next video which I filmed the following week and I have an update Solo at My Off-Grid Cabin: Hunting, Hauling, and Winter Prep ua-cam.com/video/zKmBOFg8cdI/v-deo.html
I never hunted. If you were to add up the cost of all the equipment you toted in, you could certainly buy a lot of meat! Sitting in the rain just does not look like fun.
The meat is a bonus to a truly enjoyable hobby. The way I see it is a deer will offset the cost tags, gas etc. But usually, the idea of "free meat" is a myth.
The unnatural sound of rain hitting your umbrella is not a good thing! Those are hardwoods the deer know that there usually no sound there other than sound of acorns dropping. There is no browse in that area for them to chew on, nothing to hold them in that area. Are you close to bedding area? Surprised you decided to set up a stand there! At the very least you should be rattling and using a grunt tube. Oh well what do I know? 30 year AK resident, grew up in UP of Michigan, lived in ALL the Western US states and have harvested all species of North America deer, elk in them and moose & bears in Alaska!
Cool, ya you might be right about the sound. Of you watch I show how I’m on the outside of a feeding area with many mature oaks and other browse. I the same spot last year I had a ton of action but no Bucks and no doe tag. There is also a decent bedding area where I hear noises from. There likely aren’t as many deer here as in Michigan though. Also, I did move.
Thanks for tuning in and please subscribe to my channel!

That was super cool for sure. It sounded close. I think it was a Barred Owl too.
You’re a very smart outdoors men. Thank you for sharing
Thanks so much
Love some deer canp videos, just got done with my northern michigan deer camp with 6 guys. Special time of year. Looking forward to the next episode to see what happens for you guys!
Been trying for my first buck. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see more video like this.

Enjoyed your hunting video very much. Lots of work to get it setup but once done it's always worth it. Good Luck hunting.
Thanks, ya it’s worth it, I hope I get lucky!
Great video and fun adventure.
Man I like that Canoe. Small enough to put on truck racks but big enough to haul a serious load and handle a decent little motor.
It’s great for sure
Love the hunting content regardless!
Thanks
Great video. That's one hell of a chainsaw 😆
I think you had a great spot. The relentless rain most likely kept the deer bed down or close to bedding area. When the rain broke, the bucks will be checking that scrape first thing. Great video.
Love the hunting content, Jim! Would be great to see more of this on your channel.
Thanks
Happy thanksgiving to everyone out there. All becoming family
Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you had a great one.

Awesome hunting video
Much appreciated
It's great to go hunting big game. I like to be well wrapped up with the right equipment. Excellent 🫎🧭⛺📸
Great video. I got a big body 8 point 2nd day of season here in SE KY.
Nice!!
Hunt camp looks fun! I’m watching you sitting in the rain waiting for your prey, and then I go outside and a herd of deer is in my yard, as usual. Two of the older bucks won’t let me get in my car.
Baaah
Nice Suzuki 6. Mine takes me everywhere on Tahoe.
Hunting content love it
Thanks a lot. I have some other hunting stuff up including a full moose hunt video but not a ton of it.
You're the best Jim! Cheers
Blessed Happy Thanksgiving to You Jimbo !!! Don't get a cold from that rain there !!! Better weather is what we are all hoping for Bitter cold is coming now !!! So stay warm & Dry for yourselves there !!!
Buddy whips out $900 cooler "I bought beer at Costco!"
I'm dying! 😂 Yyyeah let's party!!
Haha, ya they only just started allowing beer to be sold in gas stations and grocery stores in Ontario so it was an anomaly
Not many know how tough the first 2 days of the 2024 open season were. As you said at least it wasn’t cold but man those first 2 days were a grind. Camp looked great and there’s nothing like eating game at deer camp, those deer steaks looked amazing!!

I like your style :)
New chainsaw is awesome!

This is a Snowtrekker Mega Crew
You do it well.
Thanks!
$hoot em up, Jim! Get a big one!
Hunting in the rain is no fun. No deer for me this season in Wisconsin, saw a lot of Doe though. Reflective tacs that don't reflect, that's a bummer! I hope you connect with a deer before the season is done!
Been waiting on the Across the Arctic Wild series to finish up. When are you going to finish uploading those epsiodes?
There are a couple more episodes left but they go live Thursday evenings ET
What canoe model? Perfect sized for sure!
It’s an 18’ Cadorette but I don’t know beyond that but I’d imagine they’d be hard to come by now a days.
Hi Baird heard you fine without interference, all good 👌
Hunted with a 20’ freighter canoe. We’d take the middle gunnel out and roll the moose in. 4hp. Motor. That boat carried many moose out of the northwestern Ontario wilderness.
This canoe is basically made to carry I moose I believe
Hunting in the rain kinda sucks but it still beats going to work...up here in PNW it's a reality.

Hey Jim, what brand is the tent? How do you like it?
It’s great, it’s a snowtrekker mega crew
Can you use bait for deer hunting
I think you’re aloud to bait before the season open but not during it. You have to heave bait pot for along time to get them coming to it. So, you won’t get any results if you dump bait on day 1 of the season and sit on it. Baiting isn’t hunting in the same kind of way though.
Long enough bar on that chainsaw Jim?
lol, a little overkill for this mission admittedly. However for bucking up logs to split for firewood at home it’s a dream. I can blast through four at once.
Jim what happened to the video of you and Hudson scouting the area - i was in the middle of watching it and the video just disappeared ???

What canoe is that?
18’ Cadorette cargo canoe
What calibre Jim?
Mine is a a Tikka T3 chambered in 7mm Rem Mag
Thanks Jim can’t wait for the next episode me and my kids love your channel keep up the good work

Would be AMAZING if we could get those solar gens in Alaska…they won’t ship them…
Ahh, bummer. Maybe UPS will ship ‘em dangerous goods.
Hey Jim come west out to Salish Sea got Dear in my back yard great Chanel cheers
Sounds like a great idea

Impressive youhave proven to be good with your chainsaw
There is a giant muley buck on my game cam the other day, hanging out by my stand! Unfortunately, my season ended at the end of September.
Good luck Jim!
A thirty horse motor on that inflatable will make it fly.
I know right? On a 13’ boat seems intense but I’m a pretty big dude so maybe a 20
Looks like you’ve exceeded the ten item legal limit.
Bahaha
Get some backstraps Brother!
nice using deer meat for bait to catch deer awesome 17:35 - 39
That's it? No second video on rest of hunt or packing up nothing? 🤨

Surprised y'all can still hunt
I really wish the term “solar generator” would
not be used…as it generates absolutely nothing.
