Looked to be an interesting day Mike, with a good attendance of viewers. Thanks for sharing.
What a day, nice video. Like the shot at Arley with Hymek, Warships & Western. I was there on this day and was near you when you shot the Hymek with the HSTs on freight, as they left I went to the chippy. Not a bad way to spend my 62nd birthday! Mind you felt like I was 15 and Punk rock was just coming out in 1976
Thanks for watching my video. I'm 18 years ahead of you; all I can say is our interest in railways keeps us young! Mike, now 80 and living in Wales ( That's good too )
Superb captures, thoroughly enjoyed and an interesting finale. Regards, John
Great coverage Mike. I'll be there tomorrow
Had a great day like you. 182 to bridgenorth,7076 back then 832 and finally 1015. home by 8.
Excellent video. Excellent event
Thanks for your support. We spent over 12 hours at the SVR, but it was all worthwhile. Biggest problem is fellow enthusiasts with mobile phones who get too close to the locos. But over the past 40 years since I started video recording I've learnt to be patient; it pays off. Thank again.
What a fabulous sight to see so many western region engines in action. When I was a child we had to save up for years to go to Barry [and cry] and see these wonderful locomotives on the rails in passing. Seeing these beautiful engines reminds me of a holiday in Torquay by coach [I think it was "Sheffield United Tours" not to be confused with football]. My holiday pocket money was spent at Newton Abbot and Exeter St. David's. Where does the time go?
You wouldn't recognise Barry in 2023. The old Woodhams Scrap Yard i
has been replaced with a new large housing development, plus a new road across to the Island. Transport for Wales have completely taken over the old Barry Island Railway site, with their new "Flirts" . It's a thriving area with an excellent beach too.
Those maybach engines have a sound of their own. Especially at idle.
had a good lunch in bridgenorth too.
Where in Bridgenorth?
the crown on the left as you go into town. old coaching inn with inside or outside dining. Very genial host and good food and plenty of it. Get there about 11.30 to get a table inside . caroline@@TheMichaelWilcock2016Railways
I’m on the Cruises with my family and Kate too in the Ship from Southampton Hampshire last Weekend beginning end of September
