    This was a great video. My 7th grader was advised to get this calculator for school. I know he is going to be overwhelmed by all of the buttons. Your video covered the types of calculations he will need it for. This is perfect.

    GOD BLESS YOU!!! You make this SO clear and easy to understand! PLEASE DO MORE WITH THE TI30XIIS calculator! Nobody EVER explained all of that to me before! The last time I took a math class was 35 years ago! (And we DIDN'T have calculators THIS confusing... if any!)
    In my Statistics class (BER345) I think the teacher assumes we understand HOW to use EVERYTHING on this calculator (mentioned above!) PLEASE DO MORE VIDEOS on EVERY SINGLE type of function you can do on this calculator! Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much!!!
    GOD BLESS YOU!

    To do e to the - 7 power find the e^x function (it's the secondary function for Ln) and then put in - 7 (make sure to use the ( - ) and not the subtraction button) OR find the e constant and then use the ^ function and then put -7 (again make sure to use the ( - ) and not the - subtraction button)

    Sven:
    The calculator does not have a generic Log function. It has two fixed based log functions: Log, which is log base 10, and Ln, which is log base e.
    If you want to evaluate a log in a different base you need to use the change of basis formula:
    Log(base a) of b = Log(b)/Log(a)
    So in your example you would use Log(9)/Log(3) to get 2
    I hope that helps.

      Type in: 11^-4 x 11^-4. You will end up with a decimal. You should be able to use the 2nd, fd function to convert it to a fraction (although in this case it may be too large to convert).
      Alternately: without the calculator your answer would be 11^-8 or 1/(11^8)

      No. You cannot graph with this calculator. For that you would need a graphing calculator like a TI 83 (which will run you at least $80).
      I do have some videos about graphing lines:
      ua-cam.com/play/PLte95fLu7u9ukLz24TytI8v-gSrTn-vBs.html

    Thanks for the video and any help!

    • @kevinkennedy503
      @kevinkennedy503  6 років тому

      There really isn't a way to do that on this calculator. The TI 30 XS has a "math print" mode and can do that I think.
      What you can do is after you get your answer, divide by pi and then change it from decimal to fraction. That's the best I've got. I hope that helps.

      On the TI-30XA there is a x^y button.
      That particular calculator can be more difficult to use, primarily because it does not display a visual confirmation of the calculation you are carrying out. When you use that function you will type in the base first the hit the x^y button. The screen may clear and then you will type the exponent. Then you will hit enter. I hope that helps.

    • @kevinkennedy503
      @kevinkennedy503  8 років тому +1

      +Jenna Petty
      Whenever you take the square root of a negative number, you get a complex number as a result.
      The TI 30X IIS cannot do calculations with complex numbers.
      You're getting that "domain error" because you are typing the calculation correctly but, since the answer is a complex number, your calculator cannot give you a result.
      If you're attempting to find a square root of a negative number, remove the negative sign and bring it out of the radical as "i". Then find the square root of the positive number remaining.
      If you're doing this as part of using the quadratic formula then that means your equation has no real roots.

    Thanks for this video. I downloaded the Instructioj Manual (.pdf) for this calculator, but all I got was a teacher's instruction guide. It might as well have been reading a Jurisprudence legal document, for as much sense as it made to me.
    Just curious: Do you have that manual to look over? And is it just me, and it's ridiculous in its ex;planations? Or does it make perfect sense to you? I'm new to scientific calculators, so it may just be my inexperience.
    Have you, or could you, done/do a review of the different calculator buttons? Just a quick explanation of what the different buttons are designed to do. Else I fear I'll have to traipse into the teacher's guide some more. Ugh.

    • @kevinkennedy503

      Lance Gaulon Honestly (and I know you don't want to hear this):
      The time, effort and money you'd spend learning how to do it on a calculator would be better used learning how to do it by hand and most of the time the answer you get will not be pretty.
      In the example you gave: you would subtract 11/14 from both sides. This would make your equation x = -11/14 - 11/14.
      You CAN use the calculator to evaluate -11/14 - 11/14 (you get an answer of -11/7)
      If you really must use a calculator to do this you'll need a TI 83 calculator but the process is really not straight forward.|
      I will try to address solving equations with fractions in the next video I make.

    • @kevinkennedy503
      @kevinkennedy503  9 років тому

      +Kaitlyn Murtagh
      Using generic powers is covered in the video. Skip ahead to about 4:37 for that section.
      As far as square roots are concerned:
      If all you want is a decimal approximation then all you need to do is use the square root function (which is the 2nd function for the x squared button).
      If you want to simplify the square root and leave it in terms of radicals, this calculator doesn't have that capability. There are calculators that can do that (the TI 30xs, for example).
      My next video will probably be about simplifying radicals.

      +Erica Redding yes it does. You use the A b/c button. If you want to write 3/4 you would push 3 then the A b/c button then 4. If you wanted to add 1 1/2 + 2 3/4 you would just push these buttons in sequence 1, Ab/c, 1, Ab/c, 2 + 2, Ab/c, 3, Ab/c, 4 = 4 1/4. If you want to change it to an improper fraction just push the 2nd button then Ab/c and then enter/=

    What Button Do I Use To Find The Square Root?

    • @kevinkennedy503

      +Nikki Marquez
      If all you want is a decimal approximation then all you need to do is use the square root function (which is the 2nd function for the x squared button).
      If you want to simplify the square root and leave it in terms of radicals, this calculator doesn't have that capability. There are calculators that can do that (the TI 30xs, for example).
      My next video will probably be about simplifying radicals.

    Hi, thank you so much for the video, it was VERY helpful! Can you do exponential equations on this calculator? The problem I can't figure out is log 15 over log 13, I'm suppose to round it 3 decimal places on the calculator, I don't have a clue of how to do it. I know the answer is ~2.465, can you help me please?

    • @kevinkennedy503
      @kevinkennedy503  9 років тому

      Lisa E if you type in Log(15)/Log(13) you get 1.056, which is not the answer you're looking for. I feel like I'm missing something. Would it be possible to get a picture of the question you're working on?

      Clarify: do you want to switch your calculator from degree mode to radians mode or do you want to convert degree measurements into radian measurements?

      Degree measurements into radian measurements.

    How can you put a variable and a fraction as its exponent in this calculator.
    example:
    (×^2/3)^3

    • @kevinkennedy503
      @kevinkennedy503  7 років тому

      You can't. Scientific calculators can't simplify algebraic expressions. Most graphing calculators can't either.
      In this case you are multiplying the two exponents together which gives you x^2.

    How do you solve an expression like this..... 3x^7+4x^6+5 over x^2 using this calculator?

    • @kevinkennedy503
      @kevinkennedy503  Рік тому

      You don't. You're not solving it you're simplifying it. Each of your exponents get reduced by 2 and the 5 is left over x^2 because it doesn't have any factors of x to cancel. You should end up with 3x^5 +4x^4 + 5/x^2

    So like I’ll put 7*7 enter and it adds a 7 and the answer is 539 your help is much appreciated 🤞🏼

    When I calculate 6.9 x 10^-8 and divide it by 4, I get 0.000000017. However, I should be getting 0.00000001725 like in other calculators. How can I view more numbers?
