Thank you for posting this. I was really struggling with replacing my C1's rear wiper arm. But now watching this I know know what to do cheers 👍🏻
No problem 👍. The nut splitter is the key! Gotta think outside the box.
Thanks for sharing. It was a great help! I didnt have a nut splitter so I filed and sawed till it split. 👍💪
Update: I received the wiper arm replacement and the nut splitting tool. I did everything as seen on your video. Plus: I put some foam material (approx. 30 x 40 cm) between the glass and the tools, right over the shaft (safety first!). Bush cracking: done. Greasing the shaft with selfmade combination of rifle grease + graphite powder: done. Mounting the new wiper arm: done. Putting WD40 on the wiper blade: done. So, I am very happy now with a really working rear wiper. Thanks a lot and take care!
Top job! Nice to hear these successes.
Helpful video as usual Cyd 👍
Finally a really useful video. Thanks.
Very good video! Helped my so much! Thank you so much!
Rescued me again! Love these instruction videos! Thanks a lot 🤗✨
Fab, hanks for your feedback Sylvie
Excellent video. There are some very poor others out there for the same job which suggest there was no metal insert on the original wiper arm.
Thanks, made my day.
Ah so I need to go get a nut splitter. pleased I came across your vid. thanks Cyclone Cyd
Great stuff .
A LIFE SAVER
I thought I was going nuts,,,thank you, nut splitter needed
Thanks👍
Hello from Southern Germany: thank you very much for showing us. I'm looking forward to remove the old bush; the advice with the splitter tool is very helpful!
Happy to help, yeah the splitter really does work, a couple of other viewers have confirmed this.
Whereabouts in S Germany? I've been to Munich, Fussen, Friedrichshafen, Konstanz, Wuppertal, Dusseldorf. Love the whole area. Also been to Hamburg in the days of E & W - visited the border (Halt! Hier ist Grenze). Ive visited suppliers like Brose and Magna mirrors.
@@CycloneCyd Hi! I'm living in Ravensburg; but actually I'm from Kressbronn/Lake Constance. That's about 9 miles from Friedrichshafen (where I also used to live)...
@@martinneumann7783 beautiful part of the world. You're very lucky.
Awesome
Thank you. had to think 'outside the box' for this one!
Any ideas how to replace the spindle as it appears to have corroded and won’t turn. Great video by the way.
These are brilliant, was under the assumption that the front wing had to be removed, these bulb fittings are similar to the Peugeot 307 which one side is difficult to replace
Huh? Was this comment meant for another video?
I like the nut spliter tool. It's better, faster, and safer than a hacksaw.
Exactly. Thank you
Great video - The nut splitter is a brilliant tool - I've seen other videos where people go at the metal insert with a Dremel, but I also used a nut splitter. Less mess and much faster :) Do you have any suggestions on the torque to be used for tightening the retaining nut? I'm changing the arm on my C2 and the insert on the new arm is smooth, so presumably it needs to be set onto the shaft tight enough to cause the splines to bite into the insert.
One other note - many windshields have a marking that show where to position the wiper blade when reinstalling. It'- a row of four circles between two horizontal lines - just centre the blade there and you're good to go.
The service manual doesn't give a torque, but I would suggest 20Nm, max 25Nm.
Thanks for the tip.
I managed to fix mine thanks to this video. I didn't have a nut splitter so I had to do the hacksaw method to get the zinc alloy part off.
For anyone attempting this, just do 3 straight cuts on one full side avoiding any threads, when it comes apart just pop the other half off, its easy enough to do, just make sure to cut straight while avoiding hitting the glass.
Buy a arm for the Xsara stationcar. The arm is similar but the viper is longer - 400 mm. Original is only 300 mm.
I got the nut off with freeze and crack spray, then the collar by grinding it with grips.
If you work on your own cars, how do you manage without a nut splitter? Sounds like a right palava
Well if ever there is a case for right tools make a job simple its this - watched the video bought the tool and in 30 seconds job done.
Oh and the tool was about £7 so a cheap fix and worth getting
Yep. nail ... head ... well hit❗
You'd be surprised how many people on FB forums struggle with this for hours. Often damaging the spindle too.
It looks easy but I even struggled with undo the nuts and I banged my injured fractured little finger from volleyball 2 weeks ago 😰and was in agony. I used WD40 as penetrating oil, is that not going to loose the nut?😰😰
Great video as always. I have a weird problem. The wiper fuse keeps blowing on my c1 as soon as i turn the ignition on, even if the wiper switch is in the off position. Is it likely to be a motor or does the whole circuit need a full going over to find the short? Thanks!
Try replacing the motor first, hopefully that will do it
I do not have a "not removal tool". In sted I used a hacksaw and cut a crove into the insert where after I used a screwdriver to remove it.
👍
You inspired me to use a hacksaw as well, thanks Martin 👍
I used hacksaw as well thanks to your comment to take a slice off the side. I did hit the cone a bit but it won't affect the performance and it was really easy to remove.
In my case, I have replaced rubber on the wiper blade, but it still doesn't clean everything. Upper part of window is not touched by rubber
The curvature of the rear screen does seem to be more than the wiper can cope with.
@@CycloneCyd i fixed it by rotating wiper for 180 degrees, now its good :)
What’s the name of the thing on the shaft that splits in half? I’m missing one to fit onto my rear wiper and I can’t find one anywhere because I don’t know the proper name. Please help me
I just call it a 'boss'. You can't buy them seperately, it comes with the new arm as part of the molding. bit.ly/C1_Rr_wiper_and_arm
Cyclone Cyd thank you so much, ive bought a new arm :)
I Think that was too complicated for me😳 especially taking the old one off. Have to visit an auto mechanic 😭
Kidding, right?
