Definitely still a good buy for 2022 for 95% of people I’ve been using it for the past year, however I bumped up mine to 512 and 16gb. Current work flow is primarily spreadsheet, PowerPoint, emails, safari, media content. And I’m not worried about working away from my desk.
@@evergrandebestrealestate4854 I don’t think most people are planning on reselling their Mac’s, if you bump up the specs it’s future proofed for a good 4-5 years

@@vedantpatne4915 depends on you, go buy it if you need it right now or don't want to wait for a couple of months or a year because of the current situation of Apple.
Just bought mine a week ago and I'm pretty happy with it. It definitely beets every single windows laptop in this price range and probably 90% of the higher classes. I'm working in an office and the keyboard on the mac is far better than the machines I'm using there. The trackpad is so good that I'm not even thinking of getting a mouse. My opinion is that it's more than worth buying it in 2022.
I bought a base model M1 Air and absolutely love it. I still use a windows machine for gaming but i love my macbook now and can see myself upgrading to an M2 Air when they are released.
I don't think you need to buy a 16gb ram for the purpose of future-proof. The M2 (or any next gen of M1) Macbook Air is highly likely to come out this year or beginning of next year with similar starting price as the M1 Air when it came out. You can easily sell the current M1 Air at around 80% price and spend a little more to buy the new one. The base model is much easier to re-sell compared to higher options.
just got mine 2 days ago and I am very impressed by it. Faster and more powerful than my Ryzen 5 laptop - video editing with Final Cut is a breeze as is photo editing...... Will do me for a mobile work station, planing to get the base studio max for when I am at home (soon).. I have the M1 mini but like my new Air especially with the 2k screen.... trying getting that on a base PC Laptop at the same price and they will laugh at you.... love your video man......
If you are not editing more than four 4K streams, doing complex 3D animation or AAA gaming (on a laptop) then this machine is for you. It's been available for awhile now so look for a deal or Apple refurb to save a few bucks. This puppy will chew through ANY other computer task and will last you a few years while remaining in excellent physical and operating condition.....and....it has insane battery life with ZERO throttling when unplugged....Apple hit a homerun with the OG M1 MBA.
The Biggest downside for me is the Battery. After 6 months, it rapidly started to drop, from 100% to 96% within 3 months. Just for a normal use it does not even last for 9 hours.
I just got mine yesterday and its a really great laptop no lie, i haven’t bought an apple product in so long but this laptop is worth every penny so far.
Got mine few days ago. I'm happy with the purchase. it's 1480 for 16gbram and 256 gb compared to 1849 for 16gb ram and 256gb for m2 MacBook Air. I don't bother about things like future proof. I'll probably be tempted to get new laptop in 4 years time anyways, whether I got the MacBook Air m1 or m2.

What is the usb C hub you’re using here ? I’ve been hearing about how the usb c hubs have been killing macbook airs especially the ones with pass through charging…. So a bit hesitant get em. How has it been for you? Oh and I’ve been loving my MacBook Air 16gb for well over a year now and it’s been awesome
Back in 2013 I bought a 2013 MacBook Air but then I swore off all laptops because it was so hot to touch that I considered it to be unusable. The hottest surface area was under the popular WASD keys, which is where I presume the Intel CPU was located. However my M1 Mini is not hot at all, so maybe an M1 Air is going to be acceptably cool. However the lack of full size arrow keys still dooms all laptops in my opinion.
I enjoy going back and watching videos like yours and feel that I would love to see a video that explains the differences between the memory dependency of previous models versus the current models. This means I would like someone to explain how certain programs can require more memory than others and how having an Apple silicon computer has changed that for the better or worst. Because I am only assuming that Photoshop takes up the same amount of memory no matter what model Apple device your using, but maybe I am wrong. I guess I am curious if the memory is better optimized on the silicon Macs if Photoshop took 6 GB of memory on my new M1 MacBook and I am not set to see a huge performance drop since the laptop can respond better than earlier models. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Thanks, good to know. I'm considering it. What is that adapter's name/model connected on left side? How has been your experience with it and that and any other ports addition adapters you'd recommend? Do they impair computer's performance if there are 2/3 simultaneous devices connected to Macbook air?
I have the m1 pro... 8gb of ram really start to be insufficient these days. If you have the 16gb ram version, though, it's still a great purchase in 2022.
I would just love to see a 16 inch or 15 inch air with minimum 16gb of ram. Or just want to see if the new models might make the 1st gen drop in price in the used market.
i’m getting my first ever Macbook M1, but which one should i get: M1 Macbook Air with 16gb ram or the base model of M1 Macbook air with 8gb ram? Im going to use it for school....word, excel, powerpoint, Discord, browsing, Netflix and youtube.
@@Carotlot You get what you buy. I‘d recommend 8GB for your use case, tbh, 8GB on Apple Silicon is like 16GB level or more, because of the swap technology from Apple. I came from a 32GB Hackintosh Desktop and honestly, this feels much smoother and very power-saving. I did the mistake by buying a Mac mini M1 at first, I realized with a MBA M1 I would benefit more cz of the compactness so I sent it back :-)
Hello, I have a iPad Pro 11 with the M1 processor and I dont think its as good as a macbook. Should I sell the keyboard and ipad and buy an macbook air or should I not sell it ?
I got my air 1 month ago fantastically amazing device but I have just one question I heard everyone is talking that speaker aree too good and it's also true quality of sound produced by speakers is amazing weather is bass treble or vocals but the sound is not that loud in noisey situations you feel need to have earphones but in silent situations like they are fantastic is there only my Mac has this issue or all the Mac's have the same
