As a street rod builder I just finished assembly/installation with little issues - biggest was sliding the tarp into the slot so I took a punch & opened up the hole & it went right in after applying some lubricant....watched the video for late model truck but was installing on my 51 chevy with a 54 bed - found useful information on both the video & the instructions - would buy again
would it be possible to see a video of this being installed on a G body El Camino?. I want to order one for mine, but I don't know how it would open, as the tailgate handle is on the inside of the box on el caminos. thank you for anything you can help me with.
Putting it on a 65 rancheros and it’s totally different than the film. I’m having to trim the two front plastic frame pieces to allow the tarp to fit. Also #1 rail is gonna be a lot of fun to mount to the cab and I may have to buy longer bolts 😢
Yes a 1965 Ranchero is much different than a 2000 Nissan Titan. Make sure your plastic corners aren't switched from the left and right sides. Not sure why longer than 2-1/2" bolts may be needed for yours and not the rest of the Rancheros Craftec sells to. Support and additional pictures are always available from sales@craftecinc.com
I had HUGE problems trying to fit the rear plastic strip on the vinyl into it's channel. I had pretty much decided that I was going to cut some of the leading edge of the plastic off to give me any chance at all. I sat there staring at it one last time when I realised that the only way to release a bit of tension on the vinyl end to end, was to undo the bolts holding the block that connects the long side rails to the short side rails ( part letters D + G ,clearly seen in the video ) and slide the block along it's track so that it was clear of the joint. I should say that ,by this time, I had fitted both sides of the vinyl into their respective channels with little problem. It is then possible to lift the cover bow nearest to the rear ( part number 8 ) just enough that the shorter portions of the side rails droop slightly and release a bit of tension on the vinyl but, not enough to pull the side strips from their channels. It is then possible to fit the plastic strip on the rear of the vinyl into it's respective channel. This will take two people. I hope that this helps anyone struggling like I was. Andy Crosby. ( 1960 GMC 1000 shortbed stepside. )
Tonneau cover for el camino 70. A real clean cut and charmed finish. Followed the video (not exactly the same model, though)) and front page piece assembly. Cover was a little stiff when installing. But we got it. Don't forget to leave a strap hanging over your tailgate when you shut down!
You need to do a little more machining on L brackets so they slide a little easier in to piece on front of bed I had to bet them into it and may also want to fix your direction booklet its very hard to read... its a nice product just needs some tweaking
I just finished installing one on my 83 El Camino. I tried to comment but it will not let me. Some tricks I used to get it done. The vinyl is very hard to get clipped in. I found that by losing one end of the cross bars permitting the sides to come in a little made it possible to get the vinyl into the track. I then bumped the cross bars back into position which stretched the vinyl back out. I also put the lock down brackets at a angle to get it to lock down a little tighter.

Tip: when sliding the vinyl cover on, spray a little Pam and it helps it slide on better.

Is their a video show how to mount cover on a GM step side that has no bed rail to clamp to . I guessing they are screws that need drilled holes ?
Yea, I have the same issue. I have a 1985 GMC step side no rails either.

Hey! Please make a video on the 72 el Camino! I don’t have an external tailgate handle!

How do you know where to put the shock absorbers?

The top section doesn’t just easily slide & lock into the frame as depicted. It pops out with a slight breeze or tug. So frustrating!

Where are you located
Wylie, Texas
Follow the video and throw away the directions they are useless and awful but a great cover for sure
Absolutely way over the top and complicated lol.
This was the worst. Moves to fast and was lacking detail.
I'm confused...
