Had this problem on and off for the last 4 months with my RX 590, but in my case I think the GPU was just bricked. The latest versions of Adrenalin were just horrendous on my PC, constant black-screening and crashes in games. Surely, AMD drivers are not the best sometimes, but can they be THAT bad? I replaced my relatively old PSU, no changes. As soon as I started getting black screens even in BIOS I RMA'd the card straight away. If it's fixable I'm going to keep it for a few more months and then switch to NVIDIA.

In the most of the games when I downclock to -10 I don't have any problem but some game specifically as (Dead by Daylight, Rust ) still crash and it doesn't matter how much I reduce the frequency. I've searched in Reddit and it seems that at least dbd problems it something related to a game issue. Nice video btw
I'm noticing all of the comments are from 2 weeks - a month ago, is this a recent issue? I'm having the same issue, fixed with this video by downclocking -8%. If so, in what games is it most prevalent? Mine is rust, I'm not sure if the issue is game based or card based.
I have this issue since I've bought the graphic a couple months ago. Like I said the only both games that I have issues with are rust (which I noticed that the problems is only in the start menu) and Dbd which downclocking to -15 don't crash and I don't feel underperformance with the downclock tho
@@ohlson110 increase power limit to +50. after weeks of research ill just do a tl;dr When playing at high resolutions and high refresh rates, the GPU is going to use more wattage to output video to your monitor. what happens is, when it has some usage spikes, it goes over 150W, which is like the default max power it can use. when it reaches that, the monitor goes black. by reducing max clock, it's going to use less wattage, which means no black screens. you can also increase the power limit so it doesn't limit itself to 150w.

Yep, fixed it for me as well. I even had to clock it down slightly more and make sure i had a casefan pointed straight at the card. Probably something other than the core overheating. You could probably mess around more with undervolting/better cooling but this is the easiest fix and the couple of FPS you might save, aren't worth the hassle imo.

@Thunderflick Production yes I mean it's been years and this bug is still going and I really don't want to buy a new graphic card because its performance is exactly what I need, but in games like Valheim if you disconnect because of the black screen then your progress is lost.
The fix I used when I bought mine a year ago was installing only the driver without the AMD Radeon software and using a portable version of it just to tweak screen color and temperature, and for the fan curve and undervolt I use MSI Afterburner
This seems to have fixed black screens on my RX 6900 as well. In the AMD software it was by default set 10% higher than the boost frequency... I set it just below the advertised boost at 2215, no issues since. I had black screens in NMS and Dying Light 2.

I've been experiencing black screen issues since getting the latest driver 30.0.13023.1012 with my 5700 XT. I'm hoping this will fix the issue. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for what triggers the black screen, sometimes it's an intensive GPU load (game on ultra) and sometimes it's trying load a GIF in Discord. I'll update with an edit if this does not fix the issue.
thanks a lot ... my GPU didn't have any blackscreen issues but I just wanted to lower the temperature an power drain ... at 1366MHz it was about 74°C (140W) now it's arround 60°C (100W) at 1257MHz
I have a black screen after the login in Windows, only if the first start... with Adrenalin software and also with only drivers (no-software)... I already tryed this some months ago but not work... maybe the problem for me is the D.O.C.P. in the BIOS, and this problem is only if I start some programs using 3D accelleration and a lot of memory (Chrome, videogames, etcetera)... Im not sure about this. Im sure about this problem is started after about a few years ago, I dont remember which version, but I remember that it was when they changed the interface to Adrenaline... and obviously they also changed the drivers... from that moment on I had this problem... so sure 100% that it is the fault of the AMD driver development but most likely there is a bit of a hand from Microsoft with its WHQL because I personally only update the AMD CPU/GPU drivers the rest also works well with the Windows drivers... years have passed, I invited a ton of reports to AMD and Microsoft, nada... no improvement. Windows sucks, and also Adrenaline sucks (I want the functionality/stability back -_-)!
Unfortunately it did not fixed mine (same GPU) even with a brand new system, the only workaround is to have a browser open, as soon as I'm on the desktop I get a black screen, and sometimes this issue stop for weeks and AMD didn't find any solution... :(

@@hafsiakram6896 on an rx 580 or which GPU?
The definition of "congratulations you played your self"
So I bought a very cheap RX 550 for my weak ass PC just to give it a small boost. I thought I was scammed bcs it keeps losing display while playing, I almost gave up since there is no UA-cam video that helps. Except for this one! THANK YOU SO MUCH BRO. Now I can play like almost whole day without worrying losing display!
Thank you much! Worked on my rx 560 ❤️
My screen goes black whenever I try to render 3840x2160 on Lumion 10 with my RX 580. At first, I thought my power supply was faulty or even my video card. So I tried your fix and so far everything is going well. I really appreciate your tutorial. Thank you.
u have to lower your res
Literally had the same issue with the same program. I was getting so frustrated but it seems it worked for me as well. Thank you for this comment, it made me watch this video. And thank you for this video, God bless you!!!
@@leahmichaels7526 I am glad I helped someone by simply giving an honest comment regarding this great video and my experience using an RX 580 for Lumion 10.
@@flows6810 It might work but, it is not a fix. What If client asks for higher resolutions? I am screwed.
this worked for me (so far) , thanks so much !!!!
dude you save my life ! love you ! i dont have to buy an other GPU
i also use RX580 and i have had blackscreen for the past half year. It's so annoying that I'm thinking of buying a new VGA. Thank you for this method
holy shit, Ive been dealing with this problem for over a year...I thought it was my, system RAM going bad, my power supply being too low... I thought about adjusting the GPU, but thought, nah... AMD knows what its doing... BFS! .... I have soooo many games that I havent been able to play, NOW I CAN! THANK YOU!!
p.s. It also has made things run smooth , games that were a little choppy are now totally smooth
update? our story is identical
Thank you!!! I've been trying to figure out what was causing this problem for 3 years.
Thanks so much This fixed it so far no crashes!
man i've been struggling with my rx7800, simce warzone 3 season 4 update. Launching even the game I had hard resets. I've checked the max frequency and was above than the amd specs just lowered the frequency to 2300 instead the max which was 2465 and solved my issue . Thanks a lot my friend
It helps with AMD Freesync signal loss (black screen) 1-2 seconds on my RX580. Thank you!
If it's fixable I'm going to keep it for a few more months and then switch to NVIDIA.
thank you for this fix seriously, i havent used my pc since January 2022 when this first started happening. Today, I decided to try and fix it again and I played GTA V smoothly for an hour. Hopefully this lasts
Thank you, in addition i also use the PRO drivers instead of the ADRENALINE drivers as they are way more stable too, sure some games take a 1 or 2 fps hit, but stability is king
how do you download pro drivers?
@@nostalgicx7 When you select your GPU, you get a list of available drivers, they allsay Adreneline xx.xx.xx etc, scroll down to the driver that doesnt say its adreneline, latest is (Radeon™ Pro Software for Enterprise - Revision Number 21.Q3.1 )
@@arcadegamer6610 thank you so much
finally...thank you! 've been dealing with this for soooo long
It fixed it for maybe half an hour, then it came back :(
This sucks, nothing fixes it. And a friend of mine who also has the RX 580 used to have the same problem but now it doesn't happen anymore to him. I don't know why.
You're a legend for this 🙏
Many thanks! My XFX card is now completely fixed.
@@herford_ yup, same issue. In rust its as soon as I click play game
@@ohlson110 increase power limit to +50. after weeks of research ill just do a tl;dr
When playing at high resolutions and high refresh rates, the GPU is going to use more wattage to output video to your monitor. what happens is, when it has some usage spikes, it goes over 150W, which is like the default max power it can use. when it reaches that, the monitor goes black. by reducing max clock, it's going to use less wattage, which means no black screens. you can also increase the power limit so it doesn't limit itself to 150w.
I'll try it
Thank you my friend.
At the moment it works perfectly.
Always be well.
Thanks.
You're a lifesaver! Thanks a lot for this
An absolute pat on the back for you kind sir 👍 this WORKED for me - rx580 8gb
i think my gpu might just be dead but i get two vertical stripes, on the screen, the drivers keep saying their incompatible with my card and it constantly gives no signal even though the computer is on, also when i go to boot it up fans spin but no signal on tv and no lights on my key board, the computer works fine without the graphics card inside so i dont think anything is wrong with the other parts, any fix?
Many Thanks!
This fixed my issue!
bro you are a life saver looooool i acctually gave my rx570 4gb for a rx5700 xt 50th anniversary(fan was suppose not to work) but turned out the fan wasn't connected and its working also for that rx570 4gb i payed 40$ so big win i guess
works like a charm thanks for sharing i can now used again my card. without any worries
Thank you soo much. It solved my problem. I have an rx 570 4gb

Thanks a lot for your help ! It allowed me to play to CyberPunk on My HP old Workstation equipped with a ATI Rx570🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you very much you saved me on this one !! much love
Mine is rx 580 phantom 8gb oc and r5 3400g with 16x1 gb ram. I was actually having micro stutters while playing any games like rdr2, gta 5 or any high graphic games to say. I undervolted the card and it somehow fixed it does any one knows what was the actual problem here?
Yep, fixed it for me as well. I even had to clock it down slightly more and make sure i had a casefan pointed straight at the card. Probably something other than the core overheating. You could probably mess around more with undervolting/better cooling but this is the easiest fix and the couple of FPS you might save, aren't worth the hassle imo.
Worked for me thanks man (crashes gone..), lmao I didn't realize that my gpu was overclocked this whole time
FRIGGING FRUSTRATION FIXER!!! Thank you! I can now enjoy crash free gaming

Hello Alvian Mardhi Channel! I have a laptop ROG Strix GL702ZC and I don't see any Performance > Tuning within my AMD Driver as what is being shown in your video. It looks like that my laptop does not support it. Do you have any suggestions for my case? Any will be much appreciated. Every update I made, my screen is turning black, but in reality, it isn't.
Hello, doesn anyone know what is problem on my gpu. When im not using my pc but is on,black screen turns on something like a sleep mode and then gpu fans after a minute starts to blow on high for a few second and then they get to normal speed and after 2-3 minutes same thing again until I touch my mouse or keyboard to wake it up.My gpu is amd radeon rx 580 8gb
i seriously can't believe that i gave amd a chance.
@Thunderflick Production yes I mean it's been years and this bug is still going and I really don't want to buy a new graphic card because its performance is exactly what I need, but in games like Valheim if you disconnect because of the black screen then your progress is lost.
Since I disabled freesync, it stopped bothering, I hope this keeps ok.
it has great performace but i dont like this bug. switched from intel to this a month ago
@@TableTennisAle I did the same as you man! Thanks, it seems to "fix" the issue.
@shutup From where I can do this, Can u guide me?
The fix I used when I bought mine a year ago was installing only the driver without the AMD Radeon software and using a portable version of it just to tweak screen color and temperature, and for the fan curve and undervolt I use MSI Afterburner
hey, may i ask how you were able to do that ? i think that, when i want to download the driver, the amd radeon software comes automaticly with it
I'm using a MSI laptop with integrated Radeon graphics. Any fix for that?
on my rx 570 it's like magic. my gpu more cooler than before. thank you so much
what frequencies did u use?
my thing keeps resetting itself back to 0 percent after a couple hours. even after hitting apply on -10%. any reason why it does this?
This seems to have fixed black screens on my RX 6900 as well. In the AMD software it was by default set 10% higher than the boost frequency... I set it just below the advertised boost at 2215, no issues since. I had black screens in NMS and Dying Light 2.
I'm using the 6900xt too! What numbers did you tuned? Im having the same issue when playing R6 Extraction
THANK YOU MEN, No Black Screens or Other Issuse. I Have a rx 480 and it Works Perfect with -8%, Cooler and Noisy. Allways Thank You. Friendly Christian =)
The only solution that helped after trying lot of shits you are lifesaver man thanks a lot❤❤
So, meaning to say, the lower we put the frequency percentage, the less chance it experience black screen?
amd drivers set my frequency settings over the recommended max by default. lowing it stopped it for me all together
Bought Rx580 rog strix, time to time I got black screen (furmark or gaming, doesnt matter). U can run game or furmark videocard can work 10-15 minutes, time to time u can start game or furmark and after 30 sec - black screen. Guys, did someone got the same and how did u fixed that? Card had default bios (not mining).
Well maybe you could help a fellow rx 580 user... I've installed old and newer driver versions, but each time I reboot and wait for desktop, automatic black screen. I can never get to desktop to even see the settings scetion, let alone make any adjustments to them. What am I doing wrong?? I'm using Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 7 board, Windows 7 Ultimate 64, 32 ram, 223 GB SSD, 1000 Cooler Master PS
AM USING AMD RADEON RX 580 GRAPHICS CARD. FOR RESIDENT EVIL 2 & SHADOW OF WAR GAMES ONLY BLACK SCREEN APPEARED FOR ME. I WAS PLAYING STYX 2 SHARDS OF DARKNESS. SUDDENLY GAME SCREEN TURNED INTO DIFFERENT COLORS. I QUIT THE GAME. FROM NEXT DAY A STRAIGHT BLACK HORIZONTAL LINE APPEARED ABOVE ON THE MONITOR. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX & IT'S NOT CLEARED. IT'S BEING STILL ON THE MONITOR. HELP ME , SEND REPLY
My screen goes to black for a couple seconds. Game is still audible and screen comes back to normal form after 2-5 sec later. Is this same with yours ?
I've been experiencing black screen issues since getting the latest driver 30.0.13023.1012 with my 5700 XT. I'm hoping this will fix the issue. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for what triggers the black screen, sometimes it's an intensive GPU load (game on ultra) and sometimes it's trying load a GIF in Discord. I'll update with an edit if this does not fix the issue.
Thnx ❤ bro u saved my live I just bought my RX 590 gme and I think it was damaged but it sol works and it good 😅
Is this talking about black screen flickering on you monitor, or only seeing a black screen as your clip in radeon relive??
thanks a lot ... my GPU didn't have any blackscreen issues but I just wanted to lower the temperature an power drain ... at 1366MHz it was about 74°C (140W) now it's arround 60°C (100W) at 1257MHz
Hey man you save my ass i was going to change my gpu but with your gide my gpu going to work perfect thanks a lot 😍✌️
