I retired from two wheels after 45yrs because I am now 74yrs old and I felt that it was too risky for me with a regular motorcycle 🏍 but then I got myself a Ryker Rally 2021 three weeks ago and I am so damn happy because I have gained my riding freedom back. I just bought a Ryker for our son who has rode motorcycles for years but had a stroke four years ago and could no longer operate the clutch or shifter of his bike. Our other son used to ride also but he died of a brian tumor at 23. I think I got a pretty good deal at Iron Pony Motorsports in Columbus, Ohio. It is a left over 2022 with a rebate. They included two red pieces that I am happy with because it makes it more visable to other drivers on the road. The purchase price was $7999, but I did have to pay freight cost. When everything was done tax, doc fee, title and tag it was just under 10 grand. My wife and I had to go to a trike four years ago after my wife battled cancer eight times and now walks with a walker. We still managed to go over 10,000 miles this year. That's way down from previous years, but I think still pretty good considering her conditon. I drove the Ryker home 100 miles, at night, in the rain, and 52 degrees (F) and enjoyed every mile. Such fun might even be illegal. I went between 60 and 70 mph for most of my trip and topped 70 a few times. My trike is a HD and is very hard to steer espeacially in the twisties. But the Ryker was a breeze to steer and barrels of fun. I was a little twitchy at first, but after about 50 miles I was fine. I think what I was doing was pulling back ever so slightly on both ends of the handle bars to keep it from twitching. what ever I was doing worked fine. The HD was a lot harder to get use to and it will wear you out in the twisties. I'm sure our son will have a smile from ear to ear next Summer riding his Ryker. Thanks for your video.

John thanks for adding to it and valid advice. I checked the value on nada and surprisingly they have some great info on new and used prices. Also the new unsold bikes are up for grabs I found a 2019 new bike of like 9500 bucks for a rally and minutes later gone!
Super solid advice as I was in this rush at first but now im just taking my time until the right deal comes along lol gotta check those emotions they are EXPENSIVE ! Dealers also use "we sell out fast" to get you buy NOW!
Oh yeah I never made a mistake like this when buying a car but here I did and lesson learned. I was patient on my next bike purchase and that took 2 days of negotiations and reading everything before I signed the papers.

Another good video Knight Ryker, one thing I might add to your list would be not to purchase the OEM windscreen when buying the bike new as there are better after market screens available at a better price, I think the same also goes for luggage and side cases where A/M items are once again better and cheaper than OE, I also feel the Rally 900 is the best version of this bike considering it’s extras as standard equipment. Keep up the good work mate.
Great points Carl and thank you for throwing those in there. The aftermarket support on accessories continues to grow and I myself am looking for a dry bag for longer travels. Any suggestions?
Great advice! People that are new to riding, can am website has weekend classes. One day in class, and one day on bike riding the course. Great way to get familiar with the bike and get three wheel license.
Great points... only thing i didnt do was test ride a ryker. Going from a gsxr 750 to a ryker is way diffrent, but i enjoy it more. I feel more relaxed when i ride vs the street bike. More comfortable. Only habit i still have is wanted to grab the clutch or grab the front brake lol. Keep the videos coming. Great content. Thank u
Thanks Patrick. I test rode it and knew that it will take a few days to get used to it but I loved it too much. Haha I was going for the clutch and the front brakes for almost 2 weeks. I like the fact that even though you have to stay alert you can relax a bit while riding this trike.
Not what I expected to see when I clicked on this! Happily surprised non the less.I must say thank you.I'm no spring chicken and been around a bit and you reminded me of transactions that bit me in the ass years ago that I had forgotten over the years being it's been many years since I dealt with a dealership. You are 100% correct, with doing your research and securing your own best rate before even talking to them.I found a leftover used for demo-rides with almost no miles on it and almost made an impulse purchase based on price.luckily I caught myself and said I needed a day to think about it and they did everything to keep me on the property but I held my ground and waited.Glad I did because what I didn't realize is the things that sold me on the 2021 quite a few of the features where not on the demo bike that I glossed over on my short ride.Small things, like an actual gas cap and self cancelling blinkers and a few other items but things I expected because I had done some homework and knew they have been upgraded. Which would be costly to try and place on the older model,so the price of the bike with upgrades would have been quite a bit more than a new bike...Buyers remorse averted and like you said done deal move on to the next sucker.I was responsible enough to call the next day and say I wasn't interested in the demo and I'd rather have the 2021and being that I did that they thanked me and are going to give me information on when the next promotion will be so I can get the most bang for my buck through them being that covid has made it quite easy to get one delivered from almost anywhere.I have no problem waiting a few more moments to be happy while spending my money locally...
I just started looking into the Ryker. I feel it's a cool modern take on a motorcycle. My friend thinks it's a tricycle for old people (I'm 35) but I don't care. I think it looks better with the 3 piece luggage/cooler in the back. Hoping to test drive one soon.
They are cool for sure and they have sold like crazy. I see all kinds of people of all ages riding this thing so definitely cannot mark this as just an old person's trike.
thank you for that information on this because i plan to purchase one after i finish my classes on this motorcycle. It is my first time so i want to purchase one for me not based on emotion. Thank you for that u tube video. God Bless You .
Awesome advice. I think looking other than your city is great advice. My local dealer was not so great when I went to look and ask questions. So, I walked out just as you have recommended.
Great points you bring up that apply to almost any large purchase you make. I just bought a 2021 Can Am Spyder RT limited from Roswell Mountain MotorSports. My wife and I hope to have many enjoyable rides together on the Spyder. Maybe we'll see you out on the road.
@@trevorsanders5303 It is a 2021 . Bill of sale says 2021 and BRP has it registered as a 2021. I bought my 2019 Ram Limited in April of 2018. So yes, it can be a 2021.
At one time the transmissions were giving them some trouble. Please do a video on the maintenance cost ( oil change etcetera) and ANY Problems you've had with your Ryker. I'd LOVE to have one, but not if it's going to give me problems like Transmission issues.
Thanks for watching. I have since sold my Ryker. I had my Ryker for 1 year and had no mechanical issues with it. I did a 5 day, 2000 mile round trip to Miami and back to Atlanta and not even a hiccup. So safe to say that my ryker was problem free.
I’m going from a Harley to a Ryker and this was really helpful. I definitely need to demo ride one I am really curious how the Ryker rides and handles. With that said it looks like a lot of fun to ride.
Currently, I'm at step 4 and going into step five. Fortunately, I found a class to help me learn about the bike to push my decision and see which dealer can ove me a better deal. Also, in California you only need a driver's license.
That's cool. Goodluck with the class and you'll learn in no time. Just have to be carefully about where your front wheels are placed and leaning in corners.
Loved, loved, loved point #4, on the Rate info. Point #5 and it's sub-tip were great for any and all buyers of anything. I hope young watchers take notes on saving time and money vs. emotional purchasing. Thanks sir, for the vid.
Nice video... I'm taking my 2 day classes this Thursday and friday... then hopefully I can purchase one too... I've never driven a motorcycle for I felt unsafe on a 2 wheeler... but for some reason I think I would feel safe on a can-am....
Thank you and good luck on the classes. You do get a sense of false safety as this is a 3 wheeler and you can drop the motorcycle but be cautious as you still open to the elements and stupid drivers on the road. But you will certainly enjoy the ryker.
Great tips here. I did alot of research before I bought my spyder. I went to the dealer, but now knowing even more about them. I would probably go private seller for my next one. Just to save some money.
Great tips and handy tools to consider and shop with. I think someone mentioned already about the windshield, but overall after market or 3rd party shops are coming in cheaper. Example is the dealer is offering the passenger seat - for $400! It's only $299 per the Can-Am site, so watch for dealers marking up to get extra money. You can find a WHOLE lot of brand new items right off Amazon - the beauty there is that Amazon has a great return policy. Dealers will charge restock fees so avoid. I've been surfing slingmods.com and they have some sweet items/accessories, most within a reasonable or competitive price range. You should check the 3-piece touring saddle for what you're looking for...
Thank you Keith. You are correct on the accessories part. I do like shopping from amazon as well just on the fact that if something doesn't work out you can at least return it hassle free if you buy prime. I am still 50/50 on buying the 3 piece luggage.
@@RideAboutNow Understood on the luggage, don't know that I need that much (do need a safe space for my drone), but instead of getting the passenger backrest ($300), think I'll put that money towards the luggage rack. Only drawback I'm looking at is the cool look of the Ryker without it and not having anyone riding (solo trips). I don't want to be pulling that rack on and off, so will have to decide. Good luck on your decision, and I appreciate your shared content - inspirational and hyping me up for my purchase!
Any kiwi want advice let me know ! .. our Ryker community world wide is awesome ! We help each other however note ... In New Zealand 🇳🇿 the Ryker is a car not a bike . No bike licences needed
Nice that should be easy to get in new Zealand. Here in some states you now don't need a full blown motorcycle license just a 3 wheel endorsement. Hey you a black caps fan?? (Cricket)
@lvcnrs eh the gas is not better than average 2 wheel bikes but gives me about 150 miles to the tank on highway and city rides. Has a 5 gallon tank. Now in back roads going no faster than 50-55 miles per hour this will go over 160 a tank. But on average 30-33 mpgs.
Just got a new 2022 Ryker Ace 600. Rode it back cold turkey 90 miles, after riding 2 wheels for 15 years. The first 1/2 hour was - wtf, but after that I figured it out and was smooth sailing. A local dealership 5 miles away would only give me $4000 for my trade. The dealer 90 miles away gave me $7500 trade and discounts. With my trade, I paid $2K out the door.
Thx for the video. Actually, we will go to the dealer tomorrow and I plan to buy for my wife either below bikes. And I don't know what I should buy for my wife, my wife can ride a moped good but not a big bike. And I don't need a 3 wheedlers cuz I have a mid size motorcycle already. Off course, I will ask the dealer for test ride, but I don't really know what is best for her. I guess I think the Can am Ryder is safe for her on HW. + 2016 Piaggio MP3 500 + Can am Ryker 600 + Can am Ryker 900 ACE or 900Rally
Thanks for watching. For sure the Can Am will be good on the highway. But if any of you have not ridden a 3 wheeler before I would suggest at least do a 3 wheeler safety course that will give you the basics on how to handle a Can Am.
Thank you Henry and congrats to you. Did you get the 2022 or the 2021? The windshield is a bit expensive but worth every penny made by F4 customs. Check out my video on it.
I got an 08 spyder gs for 8k, plus another 2k to fix some issues it had. So all in all around 10k, but even though I got ripped off by like 3k I’m stoked on it and couldnt care less. People always complement my bike and even other can am owners say I have a super clean old school spyder.
@@RideAboutNow after I got her all fixed up she rides like she came off the showroom floor! I just prefer the older models sleeker design, and after riding the newer model 2020 spyder I didn’t feel anything was that much different so I went with an older low mile model that the owner had neglected (unbeknownst to me at the time) but I still am stoked on it and have no regrets on the purchase.
I work for a motorcycle dealer and we get these traded in frequently. I think maybe people want a bike and think this is kinda the same thing and realize they still want a bike. I own seven bikes and bought one of these a couple years ago that was traded in. It was only 1 year old with 1500 miles on it. My gf always wanted one and she loves it. I enjoy it (when she lets me ride it) but it’s definitely NOT a motorcycle. I call it a summertime snowmobile.
Technically it is a motorcycle, a trike not a bike I guess. But still fun machines. Now the Slingshots and anything 3 wheeled with a steering wheel shouldn't be called a motorcycle.
I haven’t purchased yet, not in a hurry. I sold Luxury cars for almost 20 years so I know a little something about purchasing a car/bike. I think the Spider will be better for me and my needs. I ride 2 up most of the time, so the bigger bike is a must. The wife and I rode my 1997 Valkyrie for years. It was a great bike for us, however about 5 years ago I suffered a stroke which took my ability to balance away. I can drive just fine but that balance thing has ruined our 2 wheel days! I drive a truck about 1200 miles every week with a great safety record. Looking for the rite deal before I make a purchase. These dealers don’t seem to want to budge off the sticker, good for them, but not so good for me!! LOL! Like I said I’m in no big hurry and that’s my advantage!😉
For sure you are doing it right. Wait for the right deal and I have a feeling there will be some deals in the winter. Also look into the new models that are still in The showroom. I know that the 2019 new rykers are still available in the showrooms for cheap not sure of the spyders. You know this best as you were a dealer. I work for Manheim so I always keep looking out for a bike that ends up at the auction. Fun stuff.
Rite, the dealer I frequent just took in a 2020 900 with less than 100 miles on it. He was asking $10500.00 for it with a back seat and a back rest. No thanks, I’ll be looking for a spider! I want the bigger bike with the 1330cc motor. I think it will suite our needs better. The 900 would be better for just me or my wife alone but not for 2 adults in my opinion. The Valkyrie spoiled me, I want the power and the larger bike.
@@troy9er oh ya ryker is not for 2 up riders. I'd go for a spyder as well. I was looking for a used f3 for some time before I bought the ryker but wasn't a ke to find any cheaper than 12k with 70k miles on it.
@@troy9er when I got mine, it was a 2019 rally with 160 miles on it in pristine condition and 6 months left of warranty for $9300 otd tax and all that jazz included
I'm sure dealerships are not the same especially when it comes to pricing but I am just curious about how much the final payment you have paid on this trike as a basis of my budget estimate. Thanks
No I had the 5 years warranty and the Gap as well. What about a service package to make service cheaper if you ride a lot. If you don't then leave it alone. Also buying all of these services are only good if you keep the bike majority of the 5 years. If not then I would advice not to spend money on any extras.
My friend got fucked over badly on his first bike. They threw in warranty without letting him know and he just signs signs signs... So he paid over $6k for a Honda CB300F with 1k miles on it. Damn, Simply Street Bikes(now called Simply Ride).
Thanks, I like your videos. I have been considering an F3 model, because of the Ryker mileage cap. I have been looking since this time last year. I have decided to buy the Ryker based on the new model upgrades and the type riding.
Thanks again for your advise. You got me to do more investigation and based on the bang for the buck. I am looking at a clearance 2020 models. The 3xtra gas tank wasn't true and the only difference between 20 and 21 appears to be a gas cap. Don't think that is worth an extra 1500 dollars in price.
Is there anyone doing big performance mods for the Ryker 900? I just feel like 87hp isn't cutting it. For crying out loud a 600cc sport bike makes more power.
That is a good question. I don't know. Actually didn't see the dealer part. Yes like Isiah mentioned you have a temp tag from the dealer and the bill of sale.
Bike looks good but my experience has been awful. Stay away from BRP. Boght the ryker on May 30th. The VSS FAULT LIMP MODE HOME has come on 4 times in less than 5 months. So now im paying on a broken bike because im on a waiting list. To get the bike fixxed. If u haven't purchased anything from BRP. I would not give them a dime. Its just been 1 problem after another. And their customer service is totally crap. Good luck with that. That being said if o could do it all over again. I WOULDN'T!!!!!!!! Bigg June AKA "The Mad Ryker"
Bigg June if I was in your place I would be really upset as well. There is nothing worse than spending your hard earned money and not having to enjoy it and the customer care to act like this. I really hope they can fix it so you can at least ride it or sell it. DM me on Instagram and please let me know the progress. Which city are you in.
@@RideAboutNow I seen them all. you beth and shawn smoak were my research before I purchased. you were just being informing and honest. ride safe #RykerFam
I call it what it is...a trike. No matter the configuration, if It has 3 wheels (tri) it is a trike. Not a reverse trike. Call it a tadpole layout if you like, but it is still a trike. A bike has two (bi). You can call it a motorcycle because it is a motorized tricycle and “technically” meets the definition.
@@RideAboutNow a trike is not defined by the position of the wheels but by the number. Three wheels is a trike. A bike has two, but you’re right, you can call it what you like.
Thanks for watching Malcolm, really appreciate it. I ride in the left lane, true but I always give way if someone is coming up behind be faster than me. Its a habit riding with one hand sometimes when I'm cruising, I do it a lot more with the Harley I purchased 3 months ago those dang cruise controls making me more lazy when I need to be alert and on it.

They are a lot of fun no doubt but they are a bit different as the bike doesn't lean but you still have to lean your body into the turn.
Considering my size, I can't handle two-wheelers but I love motorcycles, and a trike like the Ryker is safer for me to enjoy the outdoors.
This thing is fun and comfortable. I really liked it.
Important points I wanted to share as I have learned from my mistakes as well. Thanks for watching Ed.
Appreciate it I can tell everything you said was genuine. I want to get a 900 this summer...
Thank you Loner.
Thanks for this video!!! I’m too scared to ride the motorcycle I bought and hubby suggested one of these today. Stay Healthy and God Bless 🙏🏽💕🙏🏽💕🙏🏽
Thank you Elizabeth, Good choice. You will enjoy this for sure.
Greetings. Good, Sound Advice! Bravo!😊
Thank you.
Great tips here. I did alot of research before I bought my spyder. I went to the dealer, but now knowing even more about them. I would probably go private seller for my next one. Just to save some money.
Agreed. Good advice.
Just ordered my 900. Should be here next week, with a windshield and saddlebags
Nice. Congrats.

I hear you. I'm having a tough time now. LoL

Appreciate you watching this video Juan. I'm glad this info helps and good luck on your purchase.

Thanks for watching.
@@kdub607 awesome. Thank you.

Nice. I would make that dealer my choice dealer. Congrats btw.
Thanks for that good info about financing 💪🏾
Thank you for watching avery.
Good points, great video.
Thanks.
+ 2016 Piaggio MP3 500
+ Can am Ryker 600
+ Can am Ryker 900 ACE or 900Rally
Thanks for watching. For sure the Can Am will be good on the highway. But if any of you have not ridden a 3 wheeler before I would suggest at least do a 3 wheeler safety course that will give you the basics on how to handle a Can Am.
Great advice
Thank you.
Very good advice! Thank you. I pick mine up today. BTW, love that windscreen. Who makes it?
Thank you Henry and congrats to you. Did you get the 2022 or the 2021? The windshield is a bit expensive but worth every penny made by F4 customs. Check out my video on it.
@@RideAboutNow I picked up the 2021. The dealer threw in some goodies and the price was right.
@@hankwojo Nice.
I'm on the fence of a Ryker to a traditional style Motorcycle bike. Big difference will be down shifting and up shifting
Yeah they're both fun. But I would go for a Can Am Spyder for more comfort if you're thinking 3 wheels.
Take the CAN-AM rider course f before buying.
Definitely a great advice.
I got an 08 spyder gs for 8k, plus another 2k to fix some issues it had. So all in all around 10k, but even though I got ripped off by like 3k I’m stoked on it and couldnt care less. People always complement my bike and even other can am owners say I have a super clean old school spyder.
Nice. How does she ride..
@@The420Chronicles nice. I love the old RSS models.
Thank you! What gloves are you wearing?
Fox Racing Dirtpaw gloves.
Fox Dirtpaw gloves.
Plus the spider with the 2 saddle bags and bigger fronk offer more storage, plus I like the Cruz and radio stuff!
Thanks
My final payment was around 12k with tax etc.
I got the 5 years insurance and the gap and the tires insurance and it seems like to much any other advice?
No I had the 5 years warranty and the Gap as well. What about a service package to make service cheaper if you ride a lot. If you don't then leave it alone. Also buying all of these services are only good if you keep the bike majority of the 5 years. If not then I would advice not to spend money on any extras.
My friend got fucked over badly on his first bike. They threw in warranty without letting him know and he just signs signs signs... So he paid over $6k for a Honda CB300F with 1k miles on it. Damn, Simply Street Bikes(now called Simply Ride).
Man that is crazy. Hopefully lessons learned for next time.
Thank you, I found this extremely helpful!
Awesome that is good to hear.
Thank you
You're welcome
Do you have the 2020 model or the 2021? I saw that the 2021 added one more gallon to the gas tank size.
Really? That's cool I had the 2020 model.
Thanks, I like your videos. I have been considering an F3 model, because of the Ryker mileage cap. I have been looking since this time last year. I have decided to buy the Ryker based on the new model upgrades and the type riding.
@@jkreskey yeah thats nice of BRP to do those upgrades?
Thanks again for your advise. You got me to do more investigation and based on the bang for the buck. I am looking at a clearance 2020 models. The 3xtra gas tank wasn't true and the only difference between 20 and 21 appears to be a gas cap. Don't think that is worth an extra 1500 dollars in price.
@@jkreskey I mean just make sure what you get with the rally, you're not buying those accessories separately then it will be more expensive.
Is there anyone doing big performance mods for the Ryker 900? I just feel like 87hp isn't cutting it. For crying out loud a 600cc sport bike makes more power.
Not that I know of in my area. But you can do some after market mods. But I kept mine pretty standard.
Are these great for traveling three states over?
I can't say for anyone else but it was good for traveling about 600 miles per day for me.
5:40 "I got it for free..." Hahaha.
Lol. The stories I've heard....
how do you ride one back from dealer in another state? do they put a temporary tag on it?
That is a good question. I don't know.
Actually didn't see the dealer part. Yes like Isiah mentioned you have a temp tag from the dealer and the bill of sale.
You will have a bill of sale it gives you 20 days from that date to get a tag
One of my tips is always ask questions on everything, don't be shy if there something you are not comfortable about ask questions.
Good advice.
What helmet were you wearing in this video?
@@Snazzas702 I believe it is the Sedici sistema 2 modular.

Trike. 3 wheels is a trike. No matter the configuration.
Call it whatever you want. Sometimes I call it a trike a motorcycle and casually a bike. The ryker is technically a reverse trike.
@@1newbertexactly it's my bike I'll call it what I like. But technically it's a reverse trike with 2 wheels up front.

I love your videos but you’re a left lane hog, you ride with one hand too much to emphasize something. You wouldn’t do that on a motorcycle
