Indeed - it melts faster if you instead break the pile down and spread it out. Up in Maine you'll see loaders stack snow with just the bucket - and it works. They generally only do it for convenience immediately following a storm. Once the pile is big enough and the forecast is clear they'll commence breaking down the pile and moving it off the lot. Towards springtime they'll just break it down and spread it out to melt the snow faster.

Pushing against that pile with that loader is gaining nothing. The toe of the pile doesn't move. Either haul it away or wait until June.
