A lot of foreigners don't know how to eat Vietnamese food properly nor what to order so I always recommend going on a food tour. You can ask the tour guides to cater it to the type of food you want. I'd recommend doing the tour with the guide that "Chase and Shelbs" or "Living the Jo Life" used while in HCMC. Tons of great ones in Hanoi like the ones used by "Sammy and Tommy", "Adventures of A+K", "Flora and Note", "This Food Bangz", and MomDuty.

Many Vietnamese people (men and women) can be friendly and it's interpreted wrong. You'll see girls walking arm-in-arm but they are just friends. It's a different culture there where machismo is defined differently. Not saying it's not possible he may have liked you, but I'd say he probably is just being friendly (other Westerners have noticed this as well as the men will hold their hands for a length of time they are not used to in the West like in Paddy Doyle's video).
