Great demo first of all. Your playing is always fantastic. I have a JM JM as well and love the sound. I tend to find my favorite sounds happen on the neck pickup. I rarely ever use the bridge on its own. However, the sounds here, I’d say are reversed, for me. The bridge sounds fantastic! Not crazy about the neck. I’m curious as to what it would sound like with the stock neck pickup and this bridge pickup? Also, the blended sound here with drive is great! Love seeing vids from you! Keep up the great work!
Thanks! Funny, I actually prefer the JMXL neck to the stock JMJM-was never in love with the stock neck pickup (though it's certainly not bad) but this one gets just the right balance for me where it's nice and round, but leans a bit brighter. If I were to do some kind of mix I'd personally go with more of a P90 a la JMJM in the bridge with this neck but it's all preference 🙂
@@ambienttrash5234 yeah the extra brightness on the neck is kinda what’s throwing me. I also use the rhythm circuit a bit. I like the darker flavor. That’s the great thing about all the choices we have in gear. Everyone can find what they love. The interchange of ideas as well is a thing of beauty. The P90 idea would definitely be an interesting blend to hear. I do want to ask, how this new neck pickup handles the rhythm circuit? Is it a little brighter than before?
@@Vraxx7 Totally, tons of options out there and it's a great time to be a gear head! Yeah, the neck pickup is definitely a bit brighter on the rhythm circuit (my bad for totally neglecting that here)-still distinctly darker though more of the attack comes through which I like, but candidly it may not be your thing if you like a particularly dark/round rhythm circuit sound.
Your intro song was great! The style and tones you get remind me of the first Clockhammer record. Have you ever heard of them? If not - give that record a listen. You might enjoy it. Do what we used to do in the 1990s and listen to it as an entire album. And live with it for a while. Sent with good vibes.
Thanks! I really grew up in 2000s so my ‘90s influences are mostly secondhand from later bands-love getting to hear where that all actually came from though so will def give that album a spin.
@@ambienttrash5234 They were doing their own thing for sure - at a time when a lot of indie/alt bands when beginning to sound the same. We wore their cassette out multiple times from playing it too much. haha Hope you like! Try the first album out and see what you think. Don't want to spoil it - but the magic is in their unexpected changes - their ability to go from super heavy parts to ultra soft was pretty unique at the time....listen for that. Their 2nd record is great too. Best to listen and familiarize one record at a time and in order of release. Shines light on how they evolved. Absolutely love your style and songs. Have a great weekend.
I swapped the bridge for a hot MASS-90 just because I missed the hotter JMJM pickup, but the neck is still in there and I’ve got no plans to swap either right now
@@ambienttrash5234did you have to do a custom order to get them to put the mass 90 in a jazzmaster housing? having trouble seeing if they sell them in a jazzy style by default
@@Rao-ce3em I don’t think so unfortunately, JM pickups are bigger than P90s and the covers have extra bits for the screws that won’t fit a normal rectangular route
They're not designed to be noiseless individually, but I've not been bothered by it even with my pedals/amp/computer/lights etc. all running in this small space. The middle position is hum-cancelling as you'd expect, but I mean at the end of the day, they're single-coils so some noise is inevitable when you run enough gain.
@@ambienttrash5234 ok cool. I have the j. Mascis and the stock pickups drive me crazy. Lol. So even if they’re just quieter than what’s in there Ide be happy.
Just bought these because of this demo. Great playing and demo as always!
I don't want to mess with my J Mascis as it is but this makes me want to buy another and mod it out
Sick demo, I’m defiantly interested in these especially the Humbucker set.
Thanks! I'm really itching to try the Between Worlds set-unfortunately didn't have time to demo those this time around but it'll happen soon!

neck pickup is crushing
Really liked your old pickups man..... but I LOVE THESE.
Duuuude me too. 🖤
These sound great, intro track rules
Thank you! 🖤
RIFF!!
Hey, man what silver knobs are those on your Jazz-master?
Flying saucers from Love My Switches
@@ambienttrash5234 thanks a lot.
Great demo. What tuning were you in? Sounded killer!
Thanks! Most of it is in standard and then everything from Distortion to the end is DADGAD
I’m about to pull the trigger on a set of these. Is your jazzmaster running a 1 meg pot or a 250k?
still got the stock 1M pots in it 👍🏻
Thank you so much for the quick reply. I got them ordered. I have the black bobbin 250k pots in mine but that can change if it’s to muddy.
Did you keep and or are you intending on keeping these in the jm jm?

What’s the name of intro track?
Just something I wrote for this vid, haven't given it one yet 🤷🏻♂️
Wow, it sounds amazing! It would be cool if you turned it into an extended version
