- VAN LIFE TV HACK - Make your tv a SMART TV using your mobile phone.
A quick and easy method to make your non smart tv a smart tv using your mobile phone and one small cheap accessory.
I`m not normally one to sit around and watch tv in my van when the weathers good. I`ll always prefer to be out swimming, cycling, surfing, exploring with my drone and lots of other outdoor activities rather than watching tv.
There are times though, when the weather turns nasty and we end up being stuck inside our vans to get some shelter from the rain. It's these moments when I like to tune in to the tv and watch a bit of NETFLIX, UA-cam or other apps that are available on my mobile phone.
I've recently learnt how to connect my mobile phone to the tv to make my tv a smart tv.
To do this I purchased a "4K HDMI to Lighting Cable". This cost me $45 on ebay.

Very professional presentation as usual but Denno to do all that you need a 5 year old on board or a really smart dog like Spencer it would be easier if raining to just play connect four all day or go to the pub FFS

Another TV hack to turn it into a smart TV, is to simply buy a Chromecast dongle and plug it into your TV'S HDMI port. IPhone can then cast wirelessly to your TV, no wires, connection leads whatsoever 👍
Sounds like another great idea. I’m a bit behind the times I think. My son showed me this one with the iPhone cable and I thought I had the latest and greatest tv hack. Since then a lot of others have told me about chrome cases and fire sticks.
Just when I think I’ve got the latest & greatest something new comes out & im behind the times again. 😜👍
