    They say she became more queenly later. Well, the Queen was born royal, MT had risen to power on her own. I think she had good reason to be proud.

    You see always how dignified she was in public and how compassionate and maternal in private. Wonderful personality

    I wrote a letter to Prime Minister Thatcher when she was in office. I got a letter back from her. Was so cool. What a nice lady she was.
    She was probably the only positive woman in my teenage years. If there were others they didn't stand out as much is she.

      I second Romain's question. I'd love to know if you'd be so kind as to share, although understand if you'd rather it remained private

      It was so long ago I don't even recall what I wrote her but I thought it was great that she responded to my email with the official state letterhead and her picture.Kyle Bruce

    The point is that she had an ideology backbone : even painful decisions came with a reason.

    • @kevinlongman007

      Yes but she always thought she was right even when she was wrong for example over the Poll Tax.

    • @cragerzz
      @cragerzz 4 роки тому +1

      @@kevinlongman007 Thats one example, not always! Apart from that which she did admit afterwards wasnt quite correct she was the greatest PM since Churchill.
      She had the balls to say yes!
      But she had even bigger balls when she said NO NO NO!
      She kept the scurge of socialism out of our great nation and that itself was courageous and absolutely CORRECT then and now and always will be!

    • @kevinlongman007
      @kevinlongman007 4 роки тому

      @@cragerzz many of her own ministers and advisors said she had become too autocratic by the time she was ousted and her inability to admit when she was wrong was one of the main reasons that her own party got rid of her.

      The 'ideology was supported by intellect, wise thinking and a vast comprehension of the value of the West and what it then meant to the world. it was no dissociated irrational 'ideology'.

    It's very difficult to transform attitudes and habits! I think Maggie did exactly that or at least made an attempt in that direction! The British traditionalists are not easy to change.
    LEFT would argue that she tried to change people on her own terms and conditions, and that is what made her so unpopular.
    The only other politician who comes to my mind is Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore.

  • @Peter-ov6xh

    Neil Kinnock never says no to an interview on the subject of Margaret Thatcher, always with a view to bashing her or diminishing her reputation. Neil, you're a historical irrelevance and you won't even merit a footnote. Give up.

    Not easy for women:
    had she been less feminine they would have insulted her for being too masculine.
    Being more on the feminine side she was a great “flirt” and USED her femininity.
    Make your mind up, guys, you cannot play both fields.

    Frankly speaking the Prime Minister should have at least one maid to do the cooking and cleaning. Her or hourly is expensive and it's not unreasonable do one helper to do some of the work for her brain to do the work of the Prime Minister.

    How can some one say this is the best prime minister weve had ?.She wrecked Scotland and England
    with her ways thats how the country is in such a state today.When she closed all our steel works and the mines
    Ok..they were costing money,she never invested that money she was saving in trainning our young people of that time.
    We are a country of pen pushers now and call centres.We have to import trades men from other countries as well
    as doctors and nurses as our own people are not trained in anything.She is hated among the working class here in
    Scotland and the north of England.If there wasnt more people in England than in Scotland she would have never
    been voted in and the time she was in power she did nothing but cause poverty,of coarse thats the Tories for you look
    around you its happening today again....GRrrrr.

    • @FC-hj9ub
      @FC-hj9ub 4 роки тому +4

      It's a very narrow view to think steel and similar industries died because of her. They were industries stuck in the past and already dying, it was a shame for the workers, but it was survival of the most resilient economies
