In my stoner days, whenever I'd be smoking with someone, I'd always play this song. 10/10 times the person would pause, jaw dropped, and demand to know what song this was when the drop hit. Still an all-time fav.

I love the moment when she becomes conscious in the fact that she has allowed herself to meld into the mindset of her captures. She's even dancing with them, trying on their fur and she has become lost and then she becomes terrified at what she has allowed herself to do.

I’ve always seen at as she tried making peace with her inner demons, only to find herself becoming one of them herself and seeing what she had become and loathing it.

    • @shanelogan630
      @shanelogan630 3 місяці тому

I’ve always seen them as her inner demons, visions of those who’ve wronged her, friends, family, a lover. And by the end of her madness after having been abandoned in the field she starts to dance with her demons instead of fighting them, coming to the realization that in the end she’d become just like them.

This song is absolutely epic. The "dance now" idea, and how we are captured by simulating others (dressing like them), then showing up and dancing only to realise eventually that we are surrounded my monsters. "Like a puppet now, I cannot move to my own beat." And then "And to your rhythm I will shout. My love for play." We are all too willing to give ourselves up at times...

    • @50zezima

      Agreed.
The songs are great but the videos and music together are just so interesting and engaging.
The Iamamiwhoami team literally created a world for this character, each song and album expanded the journey with loose narrative drivers leaving much of the story up to the viewer. And all of this is framed by such excellent cinematography, lighting and panoramic views.
In my opinion, no other group has pulled this off as well as Yonah and team did with KIN and BOUNTY.

    [Verse 1]
    Moving closer now
Your hand just knocked me off my feet
    Yeah, like a puppet now
I cannot move to my own beat
    [Chorus 1]
    But I can dance tonight
I'll make up songs for us to sing
You hold my heart with cotton string
And to your rhythm I will shout
    My love for play
    [Interlude - Vocalisations]
    [Verse 2]
    Take off your hat
And pull a rabbit out for me
    I'm like a lackey now
I'll lay on my back, get on my knees
I'll lay on my back, get on my, my, my, my, my
    [Bridge]
So I will dance now, dance now
    Dance now, dance now
    Dance now, dance now
    Dance now, dance now
    [Chorus 2]
    But I can dance tonight
    Dance now
I'll make up songs for us to sing
    Dance now, dance now
    But I can dance
You hold my heart with cotton string
    Dance now, dance now
I'll make up songs to sing
And to your rhythm I will shout
    Dance now, dance now
    My love for play
    Dance now
    [Interlude - Vocalisations]
    Dance now, dance now
    Dance now, dance now

the music paired with the visual effects is just perfection! I've been listening to their music for many years now and iamamiwhoami's stuff is the only kind of music that makes me feel in that special way. I caught myself dancing to their songs like crazy with closed eyes, like I was in another world, but was also crying because of the beauty of their art. I never had those kind of feelings before, it's kind of like a mixture between love, happines compared with sadness, darkness, a mature and artistic sexiness, craziness and a cold or warm feeling caused the temperature of the nature shown in the vids. I never took drugs, but I imagine it could feel like this. My friends don't like them at all unfortunately haha. now typing that comment I think i sound like a weirdo, but that's ok, I just want everybody to know how fantastic iamamiwhoami is

What does your comment even mean. You use a song to smoke the weed so like the music from your speaker lights your weed for you or something?

      +gerardo iglesias RIGHT OMG !!?
+Too poo No but most of the time, people smoke to relax or at least release the stress by dancing, singing, working out or doing whatever, and this song is perfect to groove you out when you smoke weed, its good vibes makes that you can't help but dance the hell out of your soul and feel overwhelmed by the love coming out of this majestic beat ! But Jonna's songs in general are part of the best songs to smoke to, she's truly got that magic in her voice and art ! (-and heart as well, I believe)

I love that Jonna really looks like she's enjoying herself in this video. What's great about iamamiwhoami is that it's not all about SERIOUS ARTISTE POUTS but that they have a playful side to them, as well.
