The percussive break in this track 43 is something that I've missed since their earlier years & you'll find tracks with percussion added in at their Rockpalast Gigs which you can buy on DVD & you'll get 2 Live Gigs for the price of 1 as they recorded both of those Level 42's Gigs... In fact playing the Rockpalast shows became like the place to play in the 70s & 80s just like it was when The Beatles went to German clubs to hone their skills before becoming one of the biggest bands in the world, but the difference with most of these gigs was that everyone playing at the Rockpalast were already a great band or solo act & if your willing to look for them on the internet you may find many bands & solo artists were recorded their like U2/Peter Gabriel/R.E.M/David Bowie/Duran Duran/Chicago & so many more... It'd take to long to type but I'll add the link via Wikipedia at the end of my comment... I'm not sure how many were recorded for TV to VHS & then converted over to DVD but all you need to do is look at the list/find the act you like & search on the internet if they were recorded their as I bought my 2 for the price of 1 Live Gigs for Level 42 from Amazon... Other track I loved with added percussive drums was " Kouyate " from Level 42's " True Colours " album & Yes they play that track in 1 of the Rockpalast Gigs... I just moved home & most of my stuff is still in boxes so I'm not sure what gig it was but hey no worries as you get 2 Level 42 Gigs for the price of 1... I'm going to see Level 42 again in October this year as I never miss a chance (if I can help it) to see Level 42 Live... I hope the Rockpalast information has been of help & you buy those 2 Show for 1 & you may also find many other's that you liked that were recorded their... I know you can see their performance of " Kouyate " here on UA-cam but if your a fan you'll want to see the whole set from those early gigs... Link below is for all the acts who played at Rockpalast & I'm pretty sure but not 100% certain that most if not all those gigs were recorded & then put on VHS/Betamax & converted to DVD & hopefully you can order & buy whatever acts that played their en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockpalast I hope this has been of some help & I look forward to seeing Level 42 in October... RIP Boon Gould .....
Great comment from clearly a big fan. I agree - I love the percussion breaks and 'Kouyate' is a fabulous early track. Percussion break on The Chant last tour was brilliant tour (on UA-cam). I too am looking forward to seeing the band October 2020 in Birmingham!
@@jameswhite7997 Well James from a fellow Level 42 in Glasgow you have a fantastic night in October when the lads play in Birmingham... Since its their 40th Anniversay Tour I'm hoping more of their early tracks are played but either way it's going to be a great night has by all as the lads from Level 42 always play an amazing set at the highest level of musicianship... All The Best Over The Weekend & you have a great night when you see Level 42 In Birmingham... Slainte Mhath James Ps I've you don't own it already buy the Level 42 in Rockpalast on DVD as you'll get 2 Live shows for the price of one... They play all the old classics along with the songs from the "True Colours " Album & their rendition of " Kouyate " is amazing... I'm sure you can still get it New Online or have a look in your local Music Supplier Store... Back in the day I'd go to HMV for all my Live Concerts but they've been closed down for some time now... Don't pay anymore than £15 as there are some chancers out there trying to cash on the fact that this year is Level 42's 40th Anniversay & hence they've raised their prices on anything Level 42 related... That & the sad passing of founding Level 42 member Boon Gould (RIP) has seen a sharp rise on Level 42 merchandise... You'll find plenty of footage on UA-cam of their Rockpalast performances & when they re-released those 2 Gigs at the Rockpalast as 1 but now available on DVD they set it to Widescreen Ratio & 5.1 Audio.. If you have this on DVD then just ignore my comment but if not your missing out on 2 classic gigs when Level 42 played all their older songs... .....
fantastic band, fantastic music, fan since 1988... still so good these days, killer-drummer, killer musicians, glad to see Mike Lindup, too ! The bass looks very good, but sound is not as good as with the JD or Alembic, I think, the "golden" mids are missed...
this is real music! played by real great musician!
One of my favourite bands #Level42 thank you always for the music .
One of my favorites, especially the lyrics!
Sweet Jesus! That drum break makes the hairs on my neck stand up. This is music. This is communicating. This is LIVING.
In Jesus' name!
Going on with the ensemble which could have fascinated ever since....
My favourite band...❤
How amazing to see Mark King and the guys drumming! Their talents know no bounds. :)
That percussion break! So tight!
Love it !!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍☺☺☺☺☺☺
fantastic sound best band ever .
Love how this turns into a samba...
Wow!!!
Fan since the mid 80's. I kinda miss the Jaydee sound, but who cares when the bass (and the drums!) in general is absolute best in class.
Adding Pete Ray Biggin to my favorite drummers list..
