Rodri had already missed some games this season and this is more partly of poor managing from Pep. Maybe the same way Arteta did with Thomas Partey in the past. They have enough advance technology and medical team to give Pep advise whether a player is physically burnt out. Rodri has made it clear in the past about the amount of football games players play is not sustainable for the body. Rodri was dealing with that injury and made it worse not given rest for this big game. He was a no go from Pep and medical team. I’m baffled pep risked him early on this season. Now he lost him for the rest of the season.
Since Rodri joined in 2019, City has won 110 of the 150 Premier League games in which he played, with only 19 losses. This translates to a win rate of about 73% and a loss rate of 13%. Tbh I was feeling pretty down with the injuries and the way the season was shaping up. But the fact we made it through this period is absolutely reason for the club and fans to feel emboldened, no other team will have a run that difficult and only city would get comparable results if they did. I didn't need the Rodri injury, after our performance yesterday, to determine that it's our season. There's a reason rival fans are ignoring that second part of the first half, we took the game by the scruff of the neck and made them city players look like petulant children. Then we went and put out one of the best defensive performances in 2024 with 10 men. And our rewards were getting to see the city players and fans cry all night about it. Two points behind with city to play at the emirates, best believe that atmosphere is going to be extremely hostile and we're going to make the suffer.
I don't wish for any player to get an injury like that especially after Timber and Jack Wilshire injuries that could have ended their dreams. But for Rodri and any City player, the God's of football have spoken. Rodri tried to setup Kai and did the same thing to Partey and injured his self in the process. After that Coty player won't on social media to bitch about us not playing the way they wanted us to play so they can win games.
I said before the Season started that it would be just our luck to finish 2nd to city 2 years running then finally finish above them and then finish 2nd to Liverpool ! But I also said we would get 100 points this year ! So if Liverpool are going to finish above us they will have to go some lol
20399 minutes for City - this is how much Rodri played for them in six seasons. He has been integral to them. They really don´t have anyone near as good as him. Will hurt them hard.
Rodri is a one of a kind, City will not be able to buy a like for like replacement for him. If one existed out there Arsenal would have bought him. This is gona be interesting

It is definitely season defining because Man City doesn’t just play the same way without Rodri especially against the bigger teams. Rodri is a huuuuuggggeeee miss
I love Rodri, although I am a gooner, but....... I can't stand the City arrogance from both the club and its fanbase. They reap what they sow with their cockiness and although I feel for Rodri, I give zero shits for Citeh and their fans!
I’m less PC that everyone else. I love Arsenal not Rodri. I’m not celebrating his injury but I am celebrating what it means for my team. I wonder if city believe in karma 🤔
Still remember when he fully and unnecessarily took out Odegaard in a international match last year. Odegaard was quite luck not to be badly hurt from that challenge.
In terms of transfers for City too, I think people overlook how much of an impact the thought that Pep might be in his final City season is having on potential arrivals
IMO Rodri is Man City's Odegaard - as in, the player they can't truly replace and will do less well without. For all the talk of Man City having a better squad due to having multiple players who can replace De Bruyne (their closest player to Odegaard profile-wise) when he's out, it wasn't until this injury happened that I realised that Man City have a similar weak link in their chain. Their win percentages with and without Rodri last season tell us all we need to know.
Issue is those guys can’t emulate Rodri’s role. Only Kovacic and Gundogan can play a true playmaking dm role and even still not in the same way Rodri does. He’s the best dm in the world rn and losing him is big even though they have incredible cover.
Rodri or no Rodri, its high time we pull up our socks. We cannot drop any more points. Our attack needs to click now. Tbf in the past 2 games, its our defenders who have scored.
