Long Travel Tacoma on 37's Build Walkaround
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лют 2025
- This is our 2006 Toyota Tacoma Build Walk around, it has full long travel front and rear, as well as 37" tires on beadlocks, and the list goes on and on. This is the final look at the truck before it gets completely rebuilt for no real reason other than "why not?"
This truck is completely beat up and abused. It has been worked hard and put away dirty, and it shows! It's also a tech's truck, so you know how that goes, it doesn't get taken care of how it should because customers always come first!

Thanks for watching! This truck has been abused hard and put away dirty! I never had time to build it the way I wanted to or how I would on a customer's truck, so it's a little scabby, but if you have any questions, leave a comment and I'll try to answer!
Boss man with a boss truck. Stoked to see the next iteration!
I love the air intake mod! Definitely better than a snorkel.
Can’t wait to see the progress on the new video series!
Truck is so sick. Purpose built. Can’t believe how close the knuckles are to the tire
Can't wait to install my JD Fab rear suspension kit. Love the videos!
Awesome setup. Inspiring my tundra build for sure
Stoked to see how this turns out!
I can't wait. Thank you
incredible footage, 🤗
Definitely coming to check your shop out, thinking of buying a trd off road (2016-current), and obviously I can’t keep it stock lol. I’ll pick up a hoodie while I’m there!
Sick to see people actually wheel their rigs
Awesome truck, seems to work well for your needs. Can’t wait to hear what you have in store for the new build, i know it will be rad 🤘🏼
Thanks! It's been good, learned a lot of things not to do with this truck, so excited to start fresh on it!
I keep my TP 🧻 in the exact same spot 🤣, Really stoked to see the build series 🤙
Do you have more pictures of the bed cage? This video gave me a bunch of ideas thank you
Sick Taco👍
I know these things have a history of frame rust so curious how you deal with that in addition to flex. And any modifications you've done to make it last longer mechanically.
The Tacoma frames had issues in the rust belt states due to salt. My 2014 Tacoma frame has zero rust in east Texas.
I'll go over that in the build series, but it's not a super simple process!
Love that truck, just the way it is.
Truck looks badass just as is
"Nothing special" then proceeds to show how its all special and molded lol sick truck!
What glue did you use to glue your windshield washer reservoir together with?
I used a soldering iron to melt the plastic back together as best I could (I don't own a plastic welder), and then used flex seal goop to make sure it didn't have any leaks.
What’s your 12v battery isolator setup? You have an inverter as well? Stoked to see the new build. I’ve been following along on Tacomaworld haha
It's a BlueSea MCL-ACR for the isolator. I don't have an inverter currently, and the stock one that came in the truck stopped working a while ago, so I just have a Jackery for charging stuff. I plan to put one in eventually though
Does the cowl intake make noticeable noise from inside cab or loss of HVAC output?
slightly, but not super noticeable.
Sick!!
Heck yeah. Cowl intake mod!
Does your cowl intake make your windshield fog up easier
Not that I ever noticed
Would you rebuild and sell those shocks and coilovers? If so lmk!
Will the 934 CV fit on a Taco that doesn't have a Long travel kit? I also have 2006 Tacoma TRD sport. It's not lifted yet, but I'm thinking a 2" lift is good for what I want to do.
you should be able to get stock length ones. You do have to notch the frame a bit to fit them. I've never looked for stock length ones if I'm honest
@@OverlandOutfitters ok, sweat thanks for the info. I also have another question in relation to the TRD sport model. You said yours was a TRD sport model, and I'm assuming you converted it to 4x4. If so, what all did you do to the front, other than changing out the hubs and spindles, did you have to do for the front suspension? And did the old cross member for the transmission match up to 4x4 transmission? I'm wanting to know so I know what I have to do when I have to cross that bridge. I'm just trying map things out before I go full send with this project
@@zacharychamberlain4189 it was a 4x4 from the factory, sorry!
@@OverlandOutfitters you're all good. Wasn't sure if 4x4 was an option or not back in 2006. I knew newer models came with that option. Now I'm wondering if the pre-runner badge is the indicator for wich TRD sport models had the 4x4. Thanks for the info
@@zacharychamberlain4189 Yes, the Pre-Runners are V6 2WD. Most other 2WD tacoma's would be the 2.7L with 5 lug wheels
Did u tub before or after long travel?
I tubbed during install because I did the 37 and long travel at the same time
How many kms? Sweet truck!
340,000km! Guess I accidentally responded to your question on another comment a year ago haha
Is there a concern for hydrogen off gassing from the batteries in the bad?
AGM batteries are sealed and don't off gas, but there is also a vent in the back of the cab behind the seat, so I've never worried about it
What ceiling net are you using?
340,000km
I'm actually go na be sad to see that truck change. boooo Its been awesome watching it in the videos and it has all the character that represents OverlandOutfitters... . lol. Please done make some shiny pretty princess Boo Boo truck...lol
I hear ya, it just had a bunch of issues that I'll go over in the build series. It needed a full overhaul no matter what, so I'm going to take the opportunity to build my dream truck. Don't worry, she'll be pretty, but not a princess! It was honestly a bit embarrassing when customers wanted to look at it, because it's not at all like how our typical workmanship is.
@@OverlandOutfitters And thats the beauty of the truck. Its you man, its you and me and everyone else that gets 1 pin stripe then get's 1000 and its all good, its everyone of us that started building our trucks and just tested every part of it until it looked like it went through hell, all the while putting a smile on our faces. But I know its time has come. I truly believe your success or part of it anyway has come from everyday dude's that can relate because our trucks look like yours. lol. What ever your new build turns out to be don't forget us everyday weekend wheelers who hobble things together cause we love the lifestyle.... best of luck on the build and I will get to BC one day and visit you guys...cheers
This new mic set up crazy. Braeden sounding extra crispy in this vid 🤣
I've been pretty sick the last couple weeks 🙃
@@OverlandOutfitters get well soon big guy!
