I have the actual film screening in a separate window on the computer and as I'm watching the above interview with Peter Turner, he also appears in the film in the cameo role of Jack, the stagehand at the one-hour-twenty-five-minute mark. What a coincidence.
What a lovely humble man. Fantastic interview Monica. You do ask some great questions. Creative people always look so relaxed around you when you interview them. Bravo. I want to see this film.
Brilliant performances in an astonishing and gorgeous story. Through Peter Turner, I learned about the wondrous and magnificent Gloria Grahame who I'd never heard of before. Many thanks!
I always thought Gloria was a lovely and appealing person and I didn’t know much of her history until I saw the film. It was really emotional. She was ahead of her time I agree.

Yes, Annette Benning really nailed the Gloria Grahame role. Entire cast was impressive. Hadn't seen Julie Waters lately, she's always wonderful. I've been a Gloria G fan since I was a kid. She's among the best of all film noir actresses. Too bad she didn't have a more successful career, as she got older. Gloria was great looking and very sexy, too. That infamous pout, those big eyes...😍😍
I have just seen the movie and absolutely loved it. It had a certain resonance with me. The acting was superb and now I will be reading the book. Thank you Peter.
I absolutely agree with you and I am also reading the memoirs. Brilliant! So simple yet so amazing. Real stories are so special. Peter is such a lovely person. Unlike some of the bullies in the film industry.
When I bought the book many years ago upon release I was disappointed that it had no pictures of them together except for a blurry picture on the dust jacket. It took away some the books credibility as far as I was concerned. Still would like to see the movie, though.
flitebiscuit I dunno. She did not look her best in the later years because she was ill. I bet Peter did that for HER privacy - the photos I mean. That is a sensitive thing.
@@samuelparker9882 Bullshit. That was an allegation by Nicholas Ray. Ray, while a great director, was an alcoholic/drug abuser and a notorious womanizer. He seduced a very young, 16 yr old Natalie Wood in 1955. I wouldn't believe a damned thing Nicky boy said. Gloria and those around at the time all indicate that the guy in question was a grown man, when they got romantic. Also of note on this, Gloria and Ray's son, from another marraige, Anthony, remained married for 14 yrs. Ten more than her marriage with Nick lasted. I suggest you delve into this a bit further, before you judge and get nasty about a woman like her. Jackass.

Annette Bennington should get an Oscar for her incredible performance. Thank you Peter for sharing..
Real love is rare❤️🌹
I think Jamie Bell was equally as good too
Bening😉

Ditto
It wasn’t in the book.
Seems like a good guy. Currently reading the book - very moving - can't wait to see the film
beautiful book, beautiful love story and great guy!
The film is FANTASTIC but! VERY sad. out now on dvd through Amazon
best film ive seen all year.
I feel Hollywood was just the wrong place to look for love for Gloria.. particularly in that generation of 50s
what a charming smart interesting man he is
Good interview! I want to see pics of Peter and Gloria when they were dating. Where can I find them??
I'll check if I can find them in the memoirs and will let you know

The original book had an element of opportunism and seedy implying a sexual relationship with a dying woman
I don't think so at all.
There’s always one who sees things as he is rather than as they are.
There's an elephant in the room...
crimsonrush a minor stroke maybe?
He seems effeminate
You are not suggesting he is embellishing the truth for attention are you? How dare you!
He did admit in the film (I haven’t read the book, but I’d imagine it’s the same) that he is bisexual
