The original was $600, but months later, Apple credited everyone who bought one $100 back, and lowering the price to $500. Still not "low price" by today's standards, but, you can easily get a previous gen iPhone today for less than that.
Tincanman listen I’m recruiting soldiers to help me take over youtube by spamming “ok boomer” on every UA-cam video you see We shall be the greatest of the great
Wow, this video takes me back!! I remember the first time I "swiped to unlock" and I was hooked!! I remember reading Wikipedia articles on Safari and watching UA-cam all day long on my iPhone 3G lol. It literally became an extension of my body, my mind. It felt like the world was suddenly at my fingertips. I can't put into words how much the iPhone changed my life.
I’ll never forget when we all thought the 3gs was the next big thing lmao I just got my 12 today and holy shit there’s literally no wait time on the browser etc. 5g is insane.
My first smartphone was the iPhone 5. I still believe it’s the most beautiful and best designed iPhone ever. No camera bump, looked fantastic, and could reach all four corners with one hand.
I agreed with this, until iPhone X...if I had to rank, it was iPhone 5, iPhone 1, then everything else, but when the X launched, I’ve liked those designs enough to put them at the top of my list, even with the camera bump.
Seeing this reminds me of how much I loved the shiny icons and how they looked kind of 3D, and when they changed them, I wasn’t happy. I’d still prefer those.
91tech has videos about living with older phones. I think Marques knows this but didn't want to say it in case he wants to do it in the furure. No disrespect to him, UA-camrs do this a lot, it's business. But I hope he doesn't claim it's his original idea if he does
This was my first iPhone, and I thought it was the most incredible piece of technology I’d ever seen. There was no App Store at the beginning; you had the apps it came with (Safari, Messages, etc.), and no more. And it was still amazing. To me, the coolest features were the keyboard that just appeared whenever necessary - and the way text messages appeared as bubbles like a cartoon. We take all that for granted today. Nice video.
I was 2 when the first iPhone came out and when MKBHD was in high school. So the first iPhone feels like something that was from the 1900's or something!
I remember a friend came to school with it a little after it came out. I was absolutely mind blown by the....... keyboard. The touch keyboard blew my mind
Daniel Rieger same with me. I was very anti Apple that time. I was H U G E Nokia fan and at the time i was always in the Nokia N series. Which I always thought were the best. I had the Nokia N8 when I first tried a friends iPhone. It was the 4 I think. When I tried the touch interface it made me feel like my phone was 10years old. Well that N8 was my last Nokia.
@@sn4tx I loved my N95, by far my favourite phone from those cave times. My first iPhone was the 4, probably after he N95. And I instantly loved it. That is of course until I got a Samsung S3. Then I never came back to Apple. Nexus and Pixels all the way from there
Andhika Putra i used the original iphone in 2010, then an iPhone 3gs for a while, 2012 i got an iPhone 4s which i used till 2015, from that year i got an iPhone 5c and used it till 2016. got a 5s after that and used it for 3 years and now i have an iPhone Xr yeet
Shaurya Chaturvedi he used each phone for 3-4 years. Browsing through the comments there isn’t one android user who used their iteration of android devices for more than 2, typically they had to renew every year. Ask yourself why that’s the case, then you’ll understand why people buy iPhones.
I know I'm late, but just wanted to mention that my first phone was an iphone 5 that my dad owned before he gave it to me in 2015 and upgaded to a 6. The first "first-hand" smartphone I had was a Galaxy J7 Duo...back in 2018. And now I use the Oneplus Nord
@@wojciechd6765 | Flagship devices (and M7 was a flagship) usually hold up great foe the first year, really good for the next 2 years, and are pretty OK after that unless something breaks. I've used phones for arouns 3 years, and I still have them, working OK, I just don't use them. If my current phone breaks I can comfortably get one of them to use until I fix it or buy a new one. People nowadays seem to be addicted to switching phones all the time, but the fact is, it is not necesarry at all, and we are spending money on things we don't need. If we lived in a 3rd world country, we'd not be using phones at all maybe. My current phone just turned 2, I plan to use it for at least one more year and it's not even a flagship. Recently received Android 9 update. Full of features, doesn't lag, I keep my stuff on an SD card just in case it breaks.
Yeah it's kinda slow when the storage space is nearly full. But other than that, it still works well. My phone has no purple tint issues, however some other issues have popped up. I guess some dust that had accumulated through the speaker grill suddenly got dislodged when the phone fell down, and thus my front camera is useless with dust in the lens. Also I'm having Sim issues, I'm attributing that to dust as well. And I just noticed my volume down rocker stopped working. This beloved phone of mine is a tank, it fell so many times and it still works! The build quality is great!! I use it with a dbrand, haven't taken it off. The boom sound quality is still amazing! I will need a phone in the near future, but I'm not in a rush yet. That was my first epic smartphone, my first smartphone (and ohh that's with thanks to Marques through his 2013 video). My next smartphone needs to be really amazing! So for that, I'm having my sights on the oneplus 7 pro.
My first iPhone was the 4s, before that I had an HTC Sensation XE and although the HTC was way bigger and still very beatiful, the 4/4s is the pinnacle of phone design to me. Best looking phone ever.

My first smartphone was the iPhone 5. I still believe it’s the most beautiful and best designed iPhone ever. No camera bump, looked fantastic, and could reach all four corners with one hand.
I'd say iPhone 4 is the best iPhone
OG Moto X, Nexus 5, Note 4, HTC One M7 in the Android side
I agreed with this, until iPhone X...if I had to rank, it was iPhone 5, iPhone 1, then everything else, but when the X launched, I’ve liked those designs enough to put them at the top of my list, even with the camera bump.
Victor Evans The iPhone X looks nice, but the notch somewhat takes away from the design.
Seeing this reminds me of how much I loved the shiny icons and how they looked kind of 3D, and when they changed them, I wasn’t happy. I’d still prefer those.
So satisfying just to see them side by side and see how far we've come in 12 years

91tech has videos about living with older phones. I think Marques knows this but didn't want to say it in case he wants to do it in the furure. No disrespect to him, UA-camrs do this a lot, it's business. But I hope he doesn't claim it's his original idea if he does

Lol I still use my dad’s, now my 2G for alarms, music and some other stuff. It’s still great..
Nice video.
My first smartphone was the iPhone 3GS, fell in love with that thing.

this is super nostalgic and I really wish I could go back and live when this phone was brand new and revolutionary.
I was 2 when the first iPhone came out and when MKBHD was in high school. So the first iPhone feels like something that was from the 1900's or something!
i remember when i first saw an iphone, in my friends car driving home from a concert. it was so fucking cool.
The og?
I first saw it in high school summer school, one of my classmates brought it out during break and everyone was so impressed.

Shaurya Chaturvedi he used each phone for 3-4 years. Browsing through the comments there isn’t one android user who used their iteration of android devices for more than 2, typically they had to renew every year. Ask yourself why that’s the case, then you’ll understand why people buy iPhones.

HeyItsJ yeah it had very cool features like the completely fucked up pink camera in dark environments 😂😂😂
How about battery life? The battery always degrades a lot, but I just pop a new one if It gets annoying.
