Karagam dance

KARAGATTAM or Karagam is a popular folk dance from Tamil Nadu, India . It is performed in honour of goddess Mari Amman . Performers balance a waterpot on ther head which is decorated with flower arrangements with a moving paper parrot on top. We presented this dance on 27th October 2011 at Seven Arts Centre, Leeds . Dancer Priya Sundar is an expert at this folk dance .
