You should add the names of Haile Gebreselasse and kenennisa Bekele, the great long-distance runner who shuttered the world record in 5000 and 10000 meters repeatedly at the world stage of OLYMPIC.
Why is there no mention of ShellyAnn Fraser-Pryce?
As great as she is, is she better than the list? But surely would’ve put her as honorable mention
And she is greater than Merlyn Ottey
Exactly my thoughts. This is so bias, it's not funny. Shelly-Ann Frazer Pryce....you never heard about her? You got to be kidding. You still have time to see her, she will be in your face at the 2024 summer Olympics.
@@davefenton7375 the title is a give away. I don't know why y'all missing the point. "....Who Changed Sports History Forever"
If the title was for the fastest female sprinters in sports history then she'd have made the list

She has never heard of Africa. This is a BS commentary
@@ralph839 Your comment is ridiculous.
Jesse Owen’s record held for 25 years. Amazing. 🏃🏾♂️
And, White people hate that; just like they hate every black person.
Jesse Owens was the true trailblazer of all. He had to endure the harsh world of African American bias and treatment of Africans living in the USA and the entire world! He stood tall and proud to be a outstanding role model and person!!
Jessie was not African. He was FBA It's offensive to call us African
@@sionrouge1697 That is not the focus. We here are saluting the great athlete he was. Please stay on task.
It’s not offensive to be called an African if you’re black…all black people around the world are from Africa…
@@jimmyadams6635 all people come from Africa. People have evolved. BLACK Americans are not African
@@jimmyadams6635So if white people don’t mutated from the blacks., ( because it’s scientifically impossible the other way around) or did they get here from a process called grafting? Much how the domesticated dogs evolved from the wolves? One way or the other but they’re not the original man made in gods image. Thank you 😊🙏🏽
Wilma Randolph story touch me.
Usain Bolt should be #1, you people are Bias, what? Because he's a Jamaican, whoever made this video his an asshole.
Edwin Moses should be on that list
Usain Bolt, because he's the fastest man in the world, plain and simple...
It’s about a lot more than just speed that makes you great
@@autonthomas367 pretty sure he wouldn't have ran that fast a race with the kind of adversity Jesse Owen had to go through. Turf was hard which was just soil and grass, almost non existent training regiment or sports science. Had to stay away from the white athletes because of segregation. And like someone just pointed out, having the fastest time doesn't necessarily make you the greatest, there's more to it
@rashidibrahim4083 Owens faced loads of extreme racial harassment early in his career, it continued but he had some advocates help him eventually. But he wasn't provided the same meals, was not allowed to eat with his white teamates, and sent to black only restaurants, or take out foid...,wasn't allowed to live on the Ohio state campus, it was whites only. Not provided the same amenities as white athletes, like a locker and a shower. Had to stay at black only hotels. Was purposely fed spoiled food, etc.while traveling This was the way it was for most people of color during the era, especially black men.
The determination and pure athletic prowess is, of course, to be cherished and respected forever. To rise above the deeply racist society shows bravery and he was humble.
He was heroic.
He made Hitler squirm!!!
@@TheRoafer indeed he was.
Read somewhere where he claimed that he was treated better in Nazi Germany in 1936 (we all know how fucked up that time was for those considered "non-aryan") than he was treated at home. Just like Ali when after winning Gold in the Olympics, they still couldn't serve him a burger in his home state. The same with other athletes like Jackie Robinson, Joe Louis, Jack Johnson. Those are the people who should be considered "Greats"
They are and were all great athlete God bless the memory of those that are gone on and God bless those who are here now
Evelyn Ashford should have been on the list. She was a clean athlete!
THE ONLY clean athlete!!!

Best of all time must include USAIN Bolt (GOAT), Asafa Powell, Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce (GOAT) and Elaine Thompson-Herah. Their track records show how they have changed history.
YES YES YES YES!!!! Jamaica Jamaica Jamaica ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Usain Bolt can never be number one, because he never did anything but run!
Jesse Owens and Carl Lewis ran and jumped!
Plus because of World war 2 Jesse Owens never had a chance to compete in more than one Olympics! ❤
African Americans have a much longer dominance in Track And Field history than the Jamaicans, and their short history. Jesse Owens was doing it in the1930s as did other African Americans.
What did Powell do.
Yes he break a world record but lots of people do that however SFP and ETH impact has not bear any fruit yet are is just blossoming so we can look out for the Clayton twins liston etc.

Some of The film clips of Jesse Owens are not him in them but of actors that portrayed him in movies, that was disrespectful and totally inappropriate. With all of the film of his accomplishments using those clips proves that this episode was indeed done with a lack of respect and knowledge of the other BLACK athletes in the history of Track and Field worldwide!

There will always be someone who will come along and do it better than you. That's the beauty of individualism......
#1 should be Jesse Owens who really went thru strunggles.
What about Wade van Niekerk
@@davidvanderross5200 they are only naming 10. Give the people a break. Besides, breaking a record does not make one a trailblazer.

Jesse, definitely deserves no. 1. More should have been denoted on how Avery Brundage, stopped Mr. Owen's from going further in T&F (along w/others).
Our black people always dominant on the track and field.
That’s true. Americans and Jamaicans dominate more sprints. Africans dominate more distance running. All awesome to watch.
I'm going to rephrase. Black people dominate anything we touch
Not lying Michael Johnson was a prodigy. Throughout his career NOBODY could beat him. His one defeat was against Donovan Bailey in a specially orchestrated show down.
The way he dominated the 200 n 400m, the way edwin moses dominated the 400m hurdles with a 10 yr win streak, the way sydney mclaughlin dominates the 400m hurdles n the way grant hollow dominates the 110m hurdles...these folks are built all the way different. Their lvl of greatness was/is so much higher than any1 else in their field. MJ literally had a stranglehold on 2 events for yrs until he dropped the 200 n just ran the 400. It was nuts.
Daley Thompson and Mo Farah
Usain bolt is not just the fastest athlete he is the greatest he should be number one notably this is not just about black African athletes this is about American athletes we know that is her opinion but there are so many athletes who should be in the top 10 who are missing
The only person that deserves to be ranked above Usain Bolt is Jesse Owens.
Well said
Edwin Moses is missing
Next time just make a video of the best Black American sprinters that change American history, and this would be fine. If we are talking about what runners do when they are running and changing history while doing that, no man can be ahead of Usain Bolt and no woman can be ahead of Shelly-Ann Fraser Price, who isn't even on the list. There isn't any mention of Frankie Fredericks, a Namibian stinter or any athlete from any of the long distance running nations of Africa.
Jessie Owens is THE BEST LEGENDARY athlete during his generation. To endure the presence of HITLER & RACISM in USA. Hitler almost took over The World 🌎. That was intense pressure.🤔☮️🙏✨
I can't imagine no African athlete is mentioned nor recognized for their achievements and international contributions to sports generally and athletics in particular.
Jesse is definitely number 1.
Jesse started it all
Jessie Owen's IS THE ONE 👍 👍 👍 ❤❤❤
You got #1 right... respectfully
Greatest of all times ,Owens ! Who could have known we can ,if not for him?
Bob Hayes, Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce and Elaine Thompson-Herah should have been included on the list.
Shelly by far whether black or white in track and field has the most medals and was not even placed on an honorable list not to mention Evelyn Ashford nah man this is garbage and placed carl lewis above Usain bolt's career more garbage failure

Just so you know Merlin ottey is definitely the best out of all black 🖤 or white 🤍 athletes back then 😢😢😢
I love this program I'm learning a lot thank you 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Thank you Merlin otety you have made us all proud God bless you
Merlene Ottey
I always cheered Merlene on because Iliked her smooth melanin loaded body and face, she is a beautiful, well built woman She is as beauty does. Her eyes remind me of a forer girlfriend.
Nah, it was Jackie Joyner Kersee, easily

Seeing this title, I immediately guessed 5 or 6 runners that were on the list. This was a great video. I learned about Merlene Ottey, who I didn't know about. Smith and Carlos will forever standout for their symbolic Black power fist and all that it cost them following the games. My family has always enjoyed track and field events during the Olympics and this video took me down memory lane.
Thank you for including Marlene Ottey. One of the greats. I’m a Pakistani though.
It was mesmerizing short history & present of black sprinters.
Maybe the title should have read "Sprinters" as in the long distant running, there's ton of black runners who changed sports history forever. The East Africans to be specific
Good one
Agreed with 98 % of the comments, but ottey is greater than most that were mentioned. Which tract athlete compete internationally at the age of 52? Overall the comments were great. Merlene ottey should be placed at a better spot on your lisr.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Competed at the age of 52... for Slovenia.
Her last appearance for Jamaica was the 2000 Olympics at the age of 40.
😢I appreciate your videos on these great sportsmen and women, cause I was a sportsman, pl go ahead and show us more videos of them.
Jesse Owens was definitely #1 across time of sports..
BOB HAYES!!
What about the African athletes from Kenya, Ethiopia, Frederick from Namibia, Lincford Chrissy from UK.What i only see here is the USA athletes. Why didn't you just say African American and Jamaica? I didn't enjoy it not a bit because you are being bias.
Akii bua from Uganda 1972 introduced the final lap

Zero distance runners on this list when distance running is dominated by black runners from African countries
It is the most herculean task to create a "LIST" of anything without controversy. But it is always fun to read these lists, and even more fun reading the comments.
What about Wilma Rudolph, Tenn State Tigerbelles, Wilmoinia Tyus?
Loved the piece but being from outside the US, found that it left out athletes that did not run in the US.
This video was well done. The Jesse Owens section, the most important segment, does not need video clips from fictional version of his life. Overall, I agree with your list and enjoyed it.
Mostly good choices. Very entertaining
Your list is flawed by omitting key African athletes. It should include the first African marathon gold medalists and the man who broke the 2-hour marathon barrier. Giants like Haile Gebrselassie, Kenenisa Bekele, Eliud Kipchoge, and Paul Tergat are missing. While Black athletes from other regions have achieved success, they don't represent the specific dominance of African runners. Please change the title to reflect this accurately.
Completely agree with your sentiment, but the WR in the Marathon is 2:00:35 set by Kelvin Kiptum (RIP).
Kipchoge's time was a publicity stunt which was heavily assisted.
You should have said according to USA.Better still short distance running. And BTW bolt is at par with Jordan ,Lewis reminds me of Magic.
John Carlos and Tommie Smith‼️
This list is too short. There were many great black runners!!! And some who were never known by the world.
You really put bolt at that number 😂😂 the man who’s responsible for changing the world of track and field
Why say 10 best black runners? Why not just 10 best runners of all time. Its not like you have any other runners that would be better.
Because Black people have been left out for recognition worldwide.
@@chuckemeade nah. When you condition your statements to only black, you reduce our greatness and our reach from being universal to a small "sub group otherness". Which is what they want. Since they are not included, we are not better than them. Don't do this to us. Other people are already minimizing us. We are the greatest period eclipsing all race.
When they do competitions, whiite people never say, "the most beautiful white women", they say "the most beautiful woman". This means they include everyone and are the most beautiful of all. We need to be this bold. I hate when black folks put limitations on themselves.
Ottey is so statuesqe, graceful, and classy. She was gorgeous.
Yeah thanks younger folk's need to see this
Flojo👏🏾 Florence Griffith Joyner #
Forever my IDOL Flojo❤❤❤
I know his is about track and field ...,but a video about cyclists Major Taylor would be great. He was the second black athlete to win a world championship, this was for any sport. He faced severe hate and horrible discrimination in the 99% all white sport. He toured the world and won against almost EVERYONE. He shattered records. This man was absolutely phenomenal in every aspect. Even by today's standards he would stand out as amazing and was born in 1878.
Major Taylor....,world champion in 1899, while being treated horribly, booted out of restaurants, not allowed a hotel room etc.
One of the most amazing cyclists from the USA ever, and not exaggerating to say he was one of the best cyclist in the world...,ever!! He seriously crashed it!!
There are some athletes that should've been move up the list. Alyson Felix and Usain Bolt should've been in the top 3 along with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. Michael Johnson should be in the top 5.
You forgot Edwin Moses hurdles, champion
Edwin Moses changed his sport. He had an excellent career.
Yes, I like the track and field games
Seek out more from Jamaica, Africa, and other parts of the world.
There is no mention of Shellyann Pryce of Jamaica
1. I agree with Jessie Owens being ranked at #1.
2. It seems that only deceased or retired Athletes could make this list!!!
3. How could Allison Felix be ranked above Usain Bolt? She only spoke out about Maternity leave when she was personally affected and she most won relay medals. She is greatly overrated!!
4. What did Flo Jo do to be on this list? Where was her impact? Two good season and questionable WRs??
5. The list was dominated by Black Americans, I guess they are the only ones making impact in the sport!!! Smh
If you're talking about the Athlete's ability to influence a generation and motivate young people and philanthrophic attributes, then Shelly-ann Fraser-Pryce must be included. What about Elaine Thompson Herah and Veronica Campbell Brown? Oh, I forget, they're Jamaicans so they couldn't be included..smh. A very bias video with little credibility!! 👎👎
Bolt is seventh in the list 🤣
USAIN BOLT IS FASTEST RUNNER OF ALL TIME AND FOREVER NO ONE WILL BREAK IS WORLD RECORD
Can you do a piece on the history of the Olympics
You arranged it in the way I thought but my only protest is how you put Michael Johnson at no 10 and Usain Bolt at 4 or 5 I guess.
The 2 of them should be among best 5. Bolt at No 3 and Johnson at No 5
Usain Bolt and Shelly Ann Fraser definitely the greatest and should not be mentioned in the same sentence as these drug stores
The rankings were perfect with Jessie Owens on top.
I will always be in awe of Jesse Owens. His story brings a tear to my eye but sadly this list should be categorised by the best or the most influential. Also separate male from female.Edwin Moses is missing but you put in two guys that finished 1st n 3rd in one olympics because they wore black gloves. Weird.
Bolt is number 7?!!
That was my question too How?????
Like how #7?
The ones higher??? That’s where he should be. Okay maybe higher than Alison Felix not the others
Harvey Glance should be mention !
Edwin Moses should be included.
I noticed that only the USA athletes' coaches were mentioned.
Shelly-Ann Frazer- Pryce deserves a mention.
Agreed totally disrespected as the most decorated track and field athlete period
Edward Moses the 400 Hurdles, he never lost that I know of. Gale deepest was not sopose to walk, but she was so fast. Please look them up
Frankie Fredericks? Herbert McKenley? Arthur Wint( First Jamaican Gold Medalist 1948 London) Georg Rhoden?
Wow! It’s unbelievable that Carl Lewis didn’t lose a long jump competition for ten years. I think around 65 meets. That’s crazy
Usain Bolt 7 😮
Yes
This list is spectacular and educated me.MO over Wilma nah but who do you bump. The original legend Jesse Owens 🎤
Shelly Ann should have been added
That when dope was undetected
Donald O'Riley Quarrie CD (born 25 February 1951) is a Jamaican former track and field athlete, one of the world's top sprinters during the 1970s.
Shelly-Ann became the first-ever Caribbean woman to win gold in the 100m final. She was honored with the Jamaican Order of Distinction and The Prime Minister's Youth Award for Excellence in Sports.
Donovan Bailey, Jamaican-born Canadian sprinter who specialized in the 100-meter dash, winning a gold medal in the event at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. He once held the world record for the 100 metres.
I find you list biased. That it only featured athletes from USA and Jamaica at most, makes it look like only black athletes from those two counties count. There are numerous athletes from other parts of the World of African/ black descent that have made great contribution to both middle and long distance that did not get a spot in your list of 10. There is Shelly Ann Fraser Price of Jamaica, John Stephen Akwari - Tanzania, Kipchoge Keino - Kenya, Haile Gebreselassie of Ethiopia, Kenenisa Bekele, Genzebe & Tirunish Dibaba, Eliud Kipchoge, Faith Kipyegon, Maria Mutola of Mozambique, Mo Farah - UK and the list goes on. they are the people my generation knows about Heroes that are both inspirational and role models in their countries and the African continent... How you missed an athlete from Kenya or Ethiopia the home of middle- and long-distance athletes makes your criteria biased
Since you have included "Afrik" in your name, consider also showcasing extraordinary African talent: Algeria, Ethiopia, Kenya have all introduced legendary runners to the world of athletics.
Jessie Owens definitely deserves to be number 1 for being dominant in a time when racial inequality was at the forefront. Though, its because of what he did in the Berlin Olympics that rumors were started about black athletes having an unfair advantage for having an extra bone in their legs. 😮
MICHAEL JOHNSON!
What about Gail Devers
Bolt should have been number 2. How js he behind car Lewis . He got a gold by disqualification !
Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce should be number one
Maybe 11. She's still writing her story and haven't seen all her fruits just yet.
No she shouldn't
Yes am learning and enjoying this great spirt documentary but i have one question , why isn't shelly fraser there
Solid list and well deserved. So, that makes the title a bit disingenuous. This makes the title a bit of a stretch. Rename to “great American and Jamaican” sprinters. As many champions to have come from Africa since the 60’s and none of them to be mentioned, the likes of Kipchoge Keino, Gabreselassie, David Rudisha and even a person that ran a Sub 2hr marathon not to get in on this is a disgrace. Do a complete list and maybe I can watch the whole thing. 🙄
Crappy video not to be taken seriously. Kipchoge should on any list involving great athletes regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, etc..
Since you encapsulated my thoughts so well, I wouldn't comment further.
